From what i understand, the main character has a loved one that disappeared, seems to me like his wife and baby, might just be the baby though. Hes completely shut down and has developed delusions, one being that the loved one is in that room. So he sits and waits, im assuming thats his sister on the phone.

The feeling of dread when u hear the crying n voice distortion...omg. my blood ran cold. Well done. Maybe make a series out of this!? I want to see more of this story.
Yeah, me too. What I really appreciate is that unlike in most of such horrors/shorts this is not about awful main character's stupidity, selfishness and other bad virtues, there is a family bond, the main character wants to rejoin his family, which makes me to root for him.
At the start you hear a kid say 'Da da' before the door closes. Seems like weeks pass before he hears the cry and it sounds distorted. To me the crying is a demon luring him in or something.
That is what I thought too.......that a demon took his family & is mocking him by imitating the sound of his baby. Notice at NO time, regardless of how long he sat there, did anything Evil emerge. I think it wanted him.......to come to It.
I love so many things about this. Sure, the cinematography, atmosphere, writing, editing, direction, but my goodness that camera work is just impeccable. The angles. The focus. The framing. It's like God himself came down from heaven and hit record. Seriously though, it's impressive what you managed to pull off with so many time constraints and no budget whatsoever. I can only imagine what you will be capable of given the chance.
@@willevertCan you make another one before Halloween? Like another scary Fan Film Not Michael Myers though.. there's many of those Halloween ones on UA-cam
I believe it could be interpreted in two ways: 1. The man has lost his wife & baby either because they left him (possibly because he is mentally-unstable and/or dangerous) or the wife decided to leave him, period & he has lost the remainder of his sanity. 2. His wife & baby were actually 'taken' by something Evil.....that truly IS in that room. A demon, perhaps. The room could be the gateway to wherever they....& It went. Either way, its a creepy short-film! But I do wish it was a bit longer.
Thank you. It's actually not "music", it's different sound effects put on top of each others. On the other hand, I guess that's what all music is, but what I'm trying to say, is that you cannot find this "song" from anywhere. I used Motion Array for all the sounds on this one.
@@willevert Awesome. Would love to know the specific ones you used as I'm currently gearing up for a short film in late January. Do you have an email I can reach you at?
Omg that scared the shit out of me when the baby started crying. And i got goosebumps when the voice started changing. Really scary and sad. Very good short film
It was his imagination, but there is no way you could know that by watching the short. I could have been more clear about it. The film is really about anxiety and how dwelling in the past will stand in the way of feeling better again. The man's wife and daughter are missing and he is literally staring at the wall and expecting that to do something good. It sounds stupid by design, because anxiety (to me at least) is stupid, it's not anything rational or something I can get rid of just by thinking about it. But when you are anxious, it's also very hard to not focus on the shitty feeling. So this is a very literal expression of how just "staring at the problem" is not going to take you in a good place. Then again, you could easily turn this into something supernatural. That was not just my intention though.
@@willevert thanks for your explanation. It also happens to me regarding the "staring at the problem" and "dwelling in the past" part that's preventing me from going mentally to a better place. Thanks again.
I was wondering if you have ever seen the VHS horror films? Because me and my crew make low budget anthology horrors films just like it, that we put on youtube. We try to gather a bunch of small time youtubers, and make a movie together. Each person makes a 10 to 15 minute long short story. You have free reign, as long as it's found footage, and horror. No copywritten music, and appropriate for youtube. We'd love to have u on board
That sounds like a super cool idea! Unfortunately right now I don't have time, but I wish you guys all the best with the film and I look forward to seeing it when it's finished.
Not bad. I'm currently working on a story I would love to turn into a short that has to do with similar themes. The whole are they or aren't they crazy or is it real arc. I guess you could say the story in my head is similar to It follows or Smile only focusing on something in the Peripheral vision. (shrug) You know how sometimes you feel there is just something to a story, but you aren't really sure what it is, because you haven't really got that far yet? I have that feeling.
Ok this is seriously well done! I looooooveeeee that you didn't go for the cliche scary creature jumpscare at the end. I could feel the tension through the whole thing. I got literal chills when the baby's crying became distorted, almost like a wailing old woman. It gives me skinwalker vibes. My only issue is that the woman talking on the phone call is hard to understand. I wasn't really able to tell fully what was being said during the conversation. But overall this is so well made! I hope this gets the attention it deserves!
Thank you! Nice to hear this worked for you. I think it is evident I messed up with the sound design in post since it's hard to understand the woman. But I'm very pleased to hear you liked it over all, and thanks for leaving a comment!
Tension and suspense. Great build up. BUT ☝️ not enough of a payoff. Not quite sure about the ending. Nonetheless, make more and give us that haunting climax
