  • In this video, Duke takes you through an advanced training game session with Koal, his black lab who has a very soft personality and grip. He struggled to be more confident when retrieving and holding on to live ducks and geese. Watch this confidence-building NePoPo® training session/game using an e-collar, clicker and flirt pole to simulate having a live duck or goose in his mouth. This is just a game that helped him overcome being too soft. At just a year old, Koal faced challenges with his confidence out in the field holding on to live birds. He lacked assertiveness and needed a confidence boost. Watch Koal's transformation from start to finish. This was one of the first times I did this with Koal and it helped tremendously.
🐶 *Is Your Dog Soft or Hesitant?*
If your dog struggles like Koal did, Duke's techniques might be the answer. However, please note that this advanced game involves e-collar use and assumes your dog is e-collar conditioned. Safety and professional guidance are essential.
    🛠️ *Tools Used:*
Duke is using the Chameleon® III B e-collar with a finger kick, set to a comfortable level for Koal. The e-collar is used positively to encourage behavior and build confidence, not to inflict discomfort:

Interesting approach! I have had one gundog that had a overly soft mouth...tough issue to work through.

We clicker train and shape the retrieve “hold” . We just use one word “fetch” it means both.
Then we overlay leash, slip and remote for the -reinforcement.
As soon as the dog does the desired behaviour we remove the mild discomfort. Then we click and reward to release the dog. Verbal or a clicker, we use both.
If we can be of service please let us know. You might love our UPX community membership.
