  • I got a Service Air Bag notification on my 2008 Cadillac Escalade. I had someone scan the codes and it came up as a B0083 which is a bad left front impact sensor. B0084 would be a front right impact sensor. The same part can be used for both.
I purchased Dorman Part#590-224 which is for a 2008 Escalade that was not a first run for that year. First run I believe was built on January 2008. Check the sticker on the driver side door jam. If your vehicle was built in January or prior then your part number may be #590-203.
If you get the service air bag light the first thing you should do is see if a cable has been disconnected on the front seats near the center console. Those are notorious for coming loose and has happened to me.
This should be the same for the Cadillac ESV, EXT, GMC Yukon XL, etc.
This should be similar for all cars, but the Escalade shares a lot with a Tahoe, Suburban, Silverado, Denali, and several other GM vehicles.
The tools you will need are a 15mm socket wrench and a 10mm wrench.

I have that exact same ratchet/wrench set. Bought it in 1997. Metrench works awesome for removing rounded out nuts and bolts.

I absolutely love that set. I got mine in the mid 90s too when I bought my first car a 1995 Ford Mustang GT. That set is over 20 years old and is to this day my go to wrench set. Good stuff!

On another video the fellow mentioned not to stand or sit in front of the airbag when first turning on the ignition after hooking up the battery. Your video is a good one. Maybe a bit more closeup on the sensor when unplugging would help but still a good video.

easyrider4x I guess that’s a good precaution to take. I really doubt it would get set off from starting the car though, but it can’t hurt to stay clear.

I didn't understand the constant commenting about replacing the other one. Why, because if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

It’s easy enough to replace when you’ve done it. I understand though since these things are known to fail with time.

How can I get mine scanned for the codes? Auto parts stores don't do it.

Autozone and Oreilly do have free diagnostic. If not they usually have a free rent a tool where you put a credit card down and they will let you borrow a OBDII scanner. www.oreillyauto.com/store-services#check-engine-light

Did your heated seats stop working because of this service impact sensor?

I don’t recall my heated seats not working ever. But maybe it wasn’t the cold season when this occurred so I couldn’t say.
