Chris is why I play bass. From the first time I heard Roundabout, I said " I want to play bass and I want to sound exactly like that!" that was about 1974.
The whole album CTTE is a masterclass in bass playing. Just incredible the stuff that Chris was able come up with. CTTE and Relayer are my two favorites Yes albums. Relayer being my #1.
And more - such a simplicity which provides the direction for the change between chords! All the best and thank you so much for all these years making us company in the channel.
Miguel, you really hit it out of the park on this one. Your in depth knowledge of all aspects of Chris’s playing and contributions to this track is astounding. Thank you!
Miguelito ... that was beautifully done my friend !!!! Nice nice tribute to an awesome musician !!!!! As we get older, savoring this beautiful music is so much more special. Rest In Peace Mr. Chris Squire and thank you for your music and for the inspiration you’ve given to all the bassist around the world that have listened to you, watched your performances, and have studied your techniques. You are missed !!!!
Miguel, THANK YOU. I can imagine how much time it took to make not only this wonderful Tribute Piece but the accuracy and depth involved. I would absolutely love further videos of these formats. I've watched this at least a dozen times already and I guarantee I'll watch it hundreds of times over the years... Bloody Brilliant my friend !!
8:30 Chris's vocal harmonies. Let's not forget Steve Howes lovely flat tones which come across on "Yessongs". I was really happy to hear Steve's tones when I saw Yes live as it sounded like the record!
Excellent. Always loved this tuned. Listened to it today on my walk. Saw yes in 78 and Jon Anderson on his solo venture in 2010 ? Yes was nothing short of jaw dropping
Thankyou once again for your love of Yes and mr Chris Squire. I had the pleasure of watching this live in 1979 in London on the Going for the one tour...... Alan Davey.... Years ago, miles away...🎼🎵🎶🖖
What a touching tribute to one of the all time best bassists. I've listened to this song 100's of times since Close To The Edge is my #1 desert island album. A brilliant 3 song masterpiece.
Hey Miguel! I attended both nights of the Symphonic Live concerts in Amsterdam. The bass pedals during And You And I were unbelievable. It was truly a religious experience. I could hear the people around me saying "Wow"...."Ooooh"....."Ahhhh"! I can still feel it almost 19 year later Hope you and your family are doing well. Loved your cover of course. Peace brother!
Dear Bruce, thank you very much - we're doing well. Hope you and yours too. The Amsterdam show was incredible - but being there was for sure another dimension...!
What an exquisite journey, man! I sang it along, played it along with my acoustic guitar, so enjoyable, plus your comments enriching every little detail, in both studio or live instances. As usual, we are so glad to be able to see this and so proud to share and appreciate Chris' legacy. Cheers!
I used to say if I met Chris after a concert, I could sing the lyrics to get backstage, "Turn round tailor, Assaulting all the mornings of the Interest shown, Presenting one another to the cord, All left dying, rediscovered Of the door that turned round To close the cover; All the interest shown To turn one another, to the sign, at the time, float your climb!"
I have never seen such a beautifully crafted video before. The detailed account of the use of pedals, coupled with the wonderful imagery in the split screen production cannot be faulted. This is a man who clearly loves the music of Yes with a deep passion. Bravo my friend!
Hi Miguel, I was waiting long time for this! And now you did it so perfect and professionel! And with so lot of informations. Realy great and a wunderful surprise for me! You let hear ne my favorit rockband YES in a new way and I'm happy and thankfull for this!
I love YES-music, I love Chris' bass-parts and I absolutely love your passion, playing, and videos, Miguel. The combination makes me so very HAPPY! Thank you!
Brilliant. Awesome, as always... The first track i loved from Yes in my early years... This change my life for ever ! Thank you Miguel for the notes and the talent
Interesting background notes. Chris Squire was hardly the shy retiring bass player, always pushing for his space which often led to friction within the band. An interesting style that changed the perception of the bass. I often thought he was a frustrated lead guitarist. However, he had clearly had a strong influence and a good understanding of musical form and certainly shaped the style of the band and notably more so in the later years.
Thank you very much for your comment, Martin. Chris was always able to command the band, and not only with his bass. I think his taste was certainly a great influence on the bands direction.
I think, in all honesty, that Miguel is the absolute best one for the Yes bass covers. The most accurate, both for the bass lines and for the bass tone too. Really great work. I do not remember if I had already written this under another of his videos (all very good 😄), but I can write it one more time! Repetita Juvant, as the ancient Latins said! 😆 ...the only dislike that there is, probably someone clicked on it wrongly! 😆 Greetings from Italy!
Very interesting video. I believe(don’t know for sure) that the first time dewtron bass pedals where used is in the end of Würm on the Yes Album(after the guitar solo).
Great job and thank you. I think this is my favorite Yes song. I honestly feel like they were in the presence of God when this music was created. Of course that could have been the weed messing with my mind.
I was wondering today if you were OK...what a wonderful "YES" (couldn't resist). Sound and execution perfect as always, the notes on performance and technique were a perfect bonus! Yes, I'm still grieving...Happy Birthday, Chris.
Beautiful as always Miguel! Heartfelt playing and your tone is spot on! Enjoyed the info throughout as well. We miss you Chris and thank you for so many MOMENTS OF MAGIC!!!
Amazing work Miguel. My first and second concerts ever was Yes at The Spectrum in Philadelphia in 1979. Chris would have a way of making the structural steel in the roof vibrate as part of the songs. I would go on to see Chris and Yes 12 times. Thank You!!
It’s like Yes “Pop up video” great video and playing! Bravo! Side note. No one had/has foot pedals like Chris did. Rafters would shake with some the low end he had. Thank you for the info on those.
Yes, Chris use the Brassmastrer at 5:00 (approx) you can even hear when he turns on the fuzz...something similar to "Future Times / Rejoice" he makes a big glissando with the fuzz at 2:00 sounds so good !!
maravilloso trabajo MIGUEL .. mucha pasion y adoracion por nuestro maestro CHRIS .. todos los dias esta con nosotros.. saludos desde MENDOZA - ARGENTINA...¡¡¡
Lots of nuances in this music (I think on the whole album). Very informative for me, 'cause I'm self-taught and this is a good shortcut. Wonderfull performance!

Does Chris tuned down the E string to D in live versions?
No, Roberto. He had it in standard tuning and would play the standard D on the 5th fret of the A string.
