This mutha can play. I've not seen a guy that runs out of ideas like this guy. The phrases just flow out of him, it's azazing. A huge catalog of ideas, endless, I don't tire of it.
Thank you for capturing this performance in such quality. I should also mention that Matt is doing a great job having those amazing young musicians on the stage. Their enthusiasm and smiles remind me the reason why we keep doing what we doing. Great set!
I am only 5 minutes in I'm blown away. The smoothness, the phrasing, the rock solid rhythm section, holy shit. Today's blues band. Please come to Montreal's Jazz Festival.
Two hours of jaw-dropping and chills on my spine. Saw him this year on Blues Peer - Belgium and I was hooked immediately. There are only a few guitarists on the planet I can listen to endlessly without getting bored. Matt is one of them. And no; not Stevie Ray, not Clapton, not Gary Moore - just to name a few. Saw them all live, and got bored after the second or third song because most of them use the same tricks over and over. Fell in love with his guitar sound too - damn ...
Wow! A beautiful performance and great quality recording. Just stumbled on this channel and I’m loving it. Deep into COVID times these days and really missing getting to see live performances. Thank you for sharing this one!
Just amazing performance !!! Matt's tone and phrasing are just great. By the way video editing & sound recording are really good too, thanks for sharing !
Saw Matt at 'The Wardrobe', Leeds, England, some years ago and he was terrific. Fantastic player and great voice too ... I have bought his albums and worth every penny .... Was a choice between Matt and KWS .... went to Matt's show instead .... delighted I did ...... sorry KWS followers ....
So many good guitarists! Here's yet another. Good sound, good group; but I really like when Matt plays LOUD. I'm not that into subtle: Hit me, hurt me, I love it. (We're speaking musically, of course. With Covid-19 everywhere, though, you'll have to hit me from six feet away. A good time to practice even more than usual, eh?)
Matt play on a Fender Strat ?...fantastic sound like on SVL Guitars; much more interesting than many other guitar hero who do too much... Four excellent musicians
Yep, a lot of tone is related to touch. Dynamics, attack, sustain are all products of fingers working on strings magnified through a decent amp. There are other things involved but they are add ons to the fundamental of touch.
I respectfully desagree. He may not have songs as catchy as the ones Bonamassa has, but he's defintely not a SRV wannabe. He has his own thing, way more sophisticated than SRV. I think at him as something between Texas and California, between SRV and Ford.
Darren C Bonamassa catchy songs are often covers.. and his playing is nothing but Clapton « Cream area » licks.. with some shred. Only not as good as Clapton.. Sorry, much prefer Schofield.
what song is the second song of the set? That sounds like some straight up New Orleans shit. I'm, from New Orleans and they did excellent job on that irregardless ♥️ Lil dudes are hot blooded! Love this
My first exposure to this band , and I love it ! Keeping the blues scene alive !
That rhythm section is right in the killer pocket. Even in 7/8 time - amazing! And I agree, what a tone in that Strat!

Thank you for capturing this performance in such quality. I should also mention that Matt is doing a great job having those amazing young musicians on the stage. Their enthusiasm and smiles remind me the reason why we keep doing what we doing. Great set!
I LIKE this guy! Nice job, Funk Biscuit!
That drummer... Not many has that feel that he has, fits Matt like the glove on the hand.
He is trying to play the Meters beat,Cissy strut etc.

This sounds fantastic! The band and the recording!
I enjoy these live performances from Matt so much! Please keep it up!

I'm loving the whole sound of this!! Thanks much for the recording!!

Live tone for days! Killer.
Great use of lovely strat!Great bluesman!!
In the song "see me through" he plays a Stevie Ray Vaughan lick omg this guy is the best
Directly or indirectly we play some SRV's Licks in a moment. :)
Sweet
What an amazing guitar player
In my opinion He s up there with the big boys
Svr- gary moore- robben ford
Amazing music ..well done Matt

This is the best performance ever!
Matt's the dah. His tone is from the devine and he is smooth as they come.
Best of blues solo 2022😎😎👍👍👍👍🤩🤩
Great to see him again with that old strat
Great shuffle and not too many fills ....perfect.
00:22:23 See Me Through
00:31:48 Everything

The wah solo in Where di I have to be...wowzza..dont hear Matt using wah much but damm that was killer!!
Real nice refeing man !!!
Arguably the best that ever was. At least to me anyhow.

That Strat tone!
He has a deep blue Delay always on
That strat indeed has a glorious tone.
But the hum and tuning stability though...
Im semi blind, cant tell if its his “real” Strat or his other Sunburst strat type, can you tell?
@@noelzhu1986 Worth it!
An absolut beast
These. Guys are great
Matt is one hell of a tonehound!
Great player
Matt...as always- DRUMMER- one BAD BOY !! (Bass same)
godaaaaaaam. this guy holy cow.
Positively phenomenal player....Stevie Ray via Robben Ford!
This guy is fuckin great!
Super...!!!!
Matt play on a Fender Strat ?...fantastic sound like on SVL Guitars; much more interesting than many other guitar hero who do too much... Four excellent musicians
Virtuoso guitar playing.
really fine !!
Nice!
Es el hermano de Robben Ford!!!! Un genio total!!
Incleivlessss blues desde españa !!!!
These British guys always sound American when singing which is strange when the UK has got the most amazing diversity of regional accents.
American English is the voice of the blues---and I'm British.
ANd it's really hard to get your own personal tone on a strat, because of all the musical references ( hendrix, srv, clapton etc..) and he did.
👍👍👍👍💪🙌
Whoever was mixing that night did a great job.
Fender Vintage 59' pick up ? Amazing sound !
This pairs well with this Orange Cookie Chem Im smoking. Greg.
That is the best guitar tone I have ever heard. Unfortunately I think you need to be able to play like Matt to get that sweet tone...
I can almost guarantee that his tone would be nothing special in the hands of mortals.
Yep, a lot of tone is related to touch. Dynamics, attack, sustain are all products of fingers working on strings magnified through a decent amp. There are other things involved but they are add ons to the fundamental of touch.
Thanks for sharing this quality performance and recording. May I ask, what recording device did you use?THX!
Lumix ZS100 Camera
Jesus, they instantly devolved into a common bar band when Jay Stollman joined them. Who the hell is that guy?
FWIW, that's an alto sax.
Better then Bonamassa now!
lool = ; ) !! Saw Joe twice (Paris ) gorgeous !! but i m absolutely waiting for Matt !! i hope He ll come
Different types of player. One enjoyable one a bit too Bonamassa.
I respectfully desagree. He may not have songs as catchy as the ones Bonamassa has, but he's defintely not a SRV wannabe. He has his own thing, way more sophisticated than SRV. I think at him as something between Texas and California, between SRV and Ford.
It’s not Bonamassa or SRV thing. Matt has its own style and I think he and Josh Smith are 2.0 blues.
Darren C Bonamassa catchy songs are often covers.. and his playing is nothing but Clapton « Cream area » licks.. with some shred. Only not as good as Clapton.. Sorry, much prefer Schofield.

The Tone!
Thanx for uploading this!! Looks and sounds great. What camera did you use?
Lumix ZS100
Matt you're my God
Shepherd's Chapel Network !!!!!!! Chapter by Chapter / Verse by Verse !!!!!!!

Proof a Strat is the greatest axe.
yeee
12:27 20:12-solo
1:12:14 love it
well what a great sound capture. may I ask what was used for that?
LOoks like a young Mark Stein on th B3😎👍🏻
A great player with killer tone ! Too bad Johnny isn't around anymore.. what happened ?
I like the music and the sound, unfortunately the vocals are not big enough
Needs more cowbell.
1:33:38 lol, he starts to laugh of the out-of-tune intro.
It sounded quite Jazzy to be honest 😂
Kennedy is so big that it looks like an alto sax
Guitar playing sounds lot like Robben Ford..especially the leads
It sounded better that night. Can't hear bass or b3
How did your recording come out? Maybe I can use your audio?
Listening through headphones can hear everything great! Nicely balanced imo
@datflys Recording sounds and looks great. I am so greatfull for these videos
