      Hit Cool no idle on the back bunk.

    What does the switch at 7:39 do?

    I've messed with it and not noticed any difference.

    • @Ward413
      @Ward413 3 роки тому +1

      Dude it’s so weird. I ended up reading the manual because I was so confused since the switch does nothing. The manual says there’s suppose to be another button right next to it that actually turns on the accent lights but it’s an optional feature. So even when the truck isn’t equipped with the accent lights, the switch to adjust the non-existent accent lights remains. It’s bizarre. It must be cheaper to include that accent adjustment button whether the truck is equipped with the lighting or not.

    Chances are if you are a fleet driver, your company made the decision to disconnect/deprogram the accessory availability of your cruise control. No cruise control.
    With smartdrive/Bendix/collision control devices plugged in and you are on "Cruise" and a 4-wheeler cuts you off it will make your truck go into a sudden stop.
    That is extremely dangerous and flat-spots the tires. Which will also trigger events on your camera system. These company's are not going to remove these system's due the insurance rates and brokers wanting higher insurance requirements for you to get a load and then have it paid in the event you have an accident.
    So, some of these company's keep the cruise control deactivated...deprogrammed.
    They have no proof for this logic. Big rigs are no less safe than we were 45 years ago. trucking is by far the single largest human resource industry in The U.S. as a civilian. At over 25 million total employees, only The U.S. Government as a whole
    is larger. We may have, or be in 70 vehicle pileups every winter. Even with that we have, by ratio and percentage, the lowest vehicle accident's in The U.S.
    At 7.5% on 2.85 million drivers? 3% is parking lot (private property and non-D.O.T. Recordable). Yet if a cop is called and a report is done it goes to insurance numbers for recording accidents.
    Of the remaining 4.5%, 2.5 is truck driver error. All 7.5% is instantaneously recorded as "involved" in an accident.
    Even where not your fault. You may have been sitting still/parked...You Are still Involved, in an accident.
    Company's will show that on your CSA/PSP regardless. THAT is the long view of "no cruise control."
    So burn up at night in the summer and get an extra blanket for the winter. Cause guess what they ain't paying 15,000 bucks for an APU and you still gonna pull that load in Mojave and pull that load in International Falls summer and winter if they can add another 5 million in insurance to satisfy Travelers insurance and a broker for brokering the load to you.
    This is all insurance and has nothing to do with you as a driver.
    It has nothing to do with you as the driver just as it didn't 45 years ago. Number's don't lie. We have not changed in these ratio numbers in near 5 decades.
    So no cruise control.
    Accessory unavailable.

    Hopefully this will not double-post. Anyway, final shot here:
    National Highway Safety Administration posts between 39,000 and 53,000 vehicle accidents every year for ALL vehicles driven on the highway's.
    At 2.85 million in drivers of all manner of trailers and equipment and running 100,000 to 125,000 miles a year, we have fewer accidents by ratio and percentage than certified law enforcement that never leave their jurisdiction in an entire career. There are less than 900,000 Law Enforcement officers in The U.S. that is counting Head D.O.J. And FBI and your state attorney General's office and Federal Marshall's.
    At 3% for parking lots added in against truckers we are still the lowest.
    At an average of 45,000 vehicle accidents a year we have less than 4,000 accidents. Near 42,000 is by someone else. Take away the 3% for being parked with 300 other trucks all across the country and we have less than 1800 accidents a year...on 2.85 million drivers.
    Just on our numbers, alone as an industry. We post less than 400 accidents a year. Less than 140 a year on truck driver error on a public right-of-way. Coast-to-coast.

    I’ve driven two different International LT’s, one a 2019 and the other a 2020 - both with the Cummins - and the truck feels like it’s detuned when I’m bobtailing or pulling an empty trailer. I’ve driven a Kenworth with the same Cummins X15 and it was much more responsive and quicker to accelerate when empty/bobtailing. Can anyone confirm if this truck limits torque or maybe boost pressure depending on how much load is on the rear axle or something? The truck is almost dangerous when bobtailing trying to pull out into traffic because it’s so sluggish to get up to speed.

    • @nunyabuziness8421

      Its all in the rear ratios and if its governed

    • @Ward413
      @Ward413 2 роки тому +1

      @@nunyabuziness8421 Rear end ratio wouldn’t change when connected to a trailer though. Both Internationals I’ve driven felt slower when hauling an empty trailer vs when hauling a loaded one. That’s why I was wondering if they limit boost pressure or something depending on suspension load. Other trucks I’ve driven like the Kenworth or Freightliner haul ass when bobtailing but both Internationals are straight garbage when trying to accelerate. Another issue is the transmission programming; it will literally use a gear for a split second and then take an eternity to shift up, losing any speed it gained from the previous gear. It’s horrendous.

    • @kbeam418
      @kbeam418 2 роки тому +1

      Vam (vehicle acceleration management) is probably enabled not sure why International would have that on unless it’s a fleet truck. Kenworth or any truck with a Cummins isx/x15 efficiency series has that option Millis Transfer’s trucks had that parameter on up until the 2019 trucks came around.

      OK super trucker calm down. If so many of you so called real truckers would have done your job properly, there wouldn't be a need to "hold our hands". It's a dangerous job, very demanding. Technology is here to release some of the stress of becoming a safe driver. Funny thing is that even now, there's a huge amount of veterans who are making rookie mistakes. Evolve or die... Your choice.

      @@Almondchimera80 first off it doesn't do all the work. It assist you in safe practices. For example, cab facing cameras that detect distracted driving causes you to get your head back in the game. Or the speed detection system reminds you to check your speed. Even the lane detection system is helpful if you zone off and aren't aware you're drafting. I'd only agree with you when it comes to collision detection and auto braking. Once the technology takes control away from the driver, that's when it becomes dangerous.
