You did really good for your first time Biboo at learning a fighting game seriously. There's an overload of information to learn and You have to be rock hard mentally( which honestly you probably are the most positivite minded and stoic individual I have ever seen), as you will lose a LOT at first but, take them all as lessons. Your approach of asking feedback is a great mindset to have. Asking others about your mistakes is a great way so see areas of opportunity where to improve. I believe in rock rock supremacy!
Your learning of this game and fighting games in general brought me back to my learning of this game and fighting games in general, too, Bii-chan! Also, I especially enjoy how easily you're growing with the Modern Beginner Combo Trials, Drive Parrying, and Evil Grandpa JP! 🤩

I think there are two fundamental types of newbie fighters. Tactical cheese spammers (area control with spacing in its advanced form) vs Chaotic button mashers (tempo pressure with APM likewise). I think She's dominantly about area control rn. Because of her experience with action games I think she will adapt a strong hybrid playstyle.
I would love to see Biboo try Soulcalibur VI. It's a little more newbie friendly in understanding the basics and I think it would be a bit more comfortable to her familiarity in weapon-based 3d action games (Souls-likes and whatnot). But more importantly, if she opens it up for online play, she can witness the imagination of Pebbles's create-a-soul characters!
Unsurprisingly you're doing well right away. You don't seem to have any issue with doing motion inputs for example. There's a lot to learn in fighting games and not much of it is obvious. If things seem confusing, that's the normal experience. It does come together after a while! When it comes to cancelling normal moves into special moves, the idea is to complete the special move by the time the normal move hits. If a combo trial says something like: - Punch - ⬇↘➡ + Kick think of it more like - Punch ⬇↘➡ + Kick in terms of timing. If you complete the special move before the normal move hits it'll still come out even if you're a bit early! If you really like JP I can recommend giving the Classic control scheme a go. There are moves only available to that scheme, and for JP it happens to be some really important ones. You can just play Modern anyway and get far, but if you want the most room to grow you'll want the Classic version. This applies to most characters, but not all.
Biboo's journey as a warrior has just started, and she did way better than expected. For a complete newbie, you got most information thrown at you on with ease. But yeah, like most people who start playing fgs, their main problem comes from inputs, or rather, from cancels and their weird timing. A tip that I can give you is is that most of these can be done in a single motion, so whenever you would go for like a crouching heavy into quarter circle forward heavy, you'd do it seamlessly like this ⬇ 🔴↘➡🔴. See how it completes the whole motion? That's what you should be doing. Also, notice that whenever you hit someone, there's a slight pause compared to when you whiff a move. It's also a different (longer pause) when you hit someone and they block. Usually, that's where the cancels should be happening, as in, the button press. The command can be input earlier, as long as you press the button inside the cancel window. I hope this helps you with the basic combos, so you can enjoy fighting games more and more.

Whenever you can squeeze in some time, definitely get some off-stream practice in! I even recommend just practicing the input motions by just looking at your controller and _slowly_ moving your thumb along each input. Just get a good tactile feel for it, how your thumb muscles move, where your thumb goes. The do the same while not looking at the controller. Then hopefully when you actually play the game you have a better mental picture of what's required to consistently execute the inputs.
I'm not into many fighting games but killer instinct is always fun to watch and play. One I hope you play if you go on a fighting game journey, plus the music is awesome as man
Aw, I was hoping she was going to do the story mode... Not just to see what goofiness she ends up with the character creator, but actually the story mode really is a solid way to go about learning how to play the game while also being legitimately fun. (Also I just really love seeing the various characters as actual characters).

Hey Bijou, this one thing will save you literal years of fighting game struggles: Use a hitbox OR keyboard w/ speed silver switches as your controller. I'll explain why in my next comment. tl;dr hitbox/keyboard is objectively the best and EASIEST way to play fighting games in every way.
Here's why (from a fighting game veteran of over 2 decades) 1) mechanically, noobs become as good as pros after only a few hours. 2) you can focus on the fun parts of fighting games instead of execution. 3) has the easiest clean inputs since you're using buttons instead of a joystick/d-pad which are less accurate and have room for misinput. 4) faster and more accurate than all other controller types. (Bonus) The keyboard route is cheapest and exactly the same as Hitbox just with slightly different ergonomics. You can remove un-used keys so it's less cluttered.
I dont know if someone already mentioned this, but I hope you could join Sajam Slam! Its a fighting tournament of streamers and vtubers like Racoon Cup that Towa and Botan joined. You will learn alot more with street fighter pros helping you!
It's also a lot more fun! Having a team and other players of a similar skill is always a great time. Hopefully being apart of hololive doesn't make it more complicated

You did really good for your first time Biboo at learning a fighting game seriously. There's an overload of information to learn and You have to be rock hard mentally( which honestly you probably are the most positivite minded and stoic individual I have ever seen), as you will lose a LOT at first but, take them all as lessons.
Your approach of asking feedback is a great mindset to have. Asking others about your mistakes is a great way so see areas of opportunity where to improve.

Biboo picked up Marisa and JP real quick! I respec her dedication to learning, she will be a pro in no time. She already is a pro at rapping to the BGM
I think there are two fundamental types of newbie fighters. Tactical cheese spammers (area control with spacing in its advanced form) vs Chaotic button mashers (tempo pressure with APM likewise). I think She's dominantly about area control rn. Because of her experience with action games I think she will adapt a strong hybrid playstyle.
I would love to see Biboo try Soulcalibur VI. It's a little more newbie friendly in understanding the basics and I think it would be a bit more comfortable to her familiarity in weapon-based 3d action games (Souls-likes and whatnot).
But more importantly, if she opens it up for online play, she can witness the imagination of Pebbles's create-a-soul characters!

Could this be the start of a fighting game journey??? It takes time but fighting games are some of the most rewarding experiences in gaming.
Unsurprisingly you're doing well right away. You don't seem to have any issue with doing motion inputs for example. There's a lot to learn in fighting games and not much of it is obvious. If things seem confusing, that's the normal experience. It does come together after a while!
When it comes to cancelling normal moves into special moves, the idea is to complete the special move by the time the normal move hits. If a combo trial says something like:
- Punch
- ⬇↘➡ + Kick
think of it more like
- Punch ⬇↘➡ + Kick
in terms of timing. If you complete the special move before the normal move hits it'll still come out even if you're a bit early!
If you really like JP I can recommend giving the Classic control scheme a go. There are moves only available to that scheme, and for JP it happens to be some really important ones. You can just play Modern anyway and get far, but if you want the most room to grow you'll want the Classic version. This applies to most characters, but not all.

Biboo's journey as a warrior has just started, and she did way better than expected. For a complete newbie, you got most information thrown at you on with ease.
But yeah, like most people who start playing fgs, their main problem comes from inputs, or rather, from cancels and their weird timing.
A tip that I can give you is is that most of these can be done in a single motion, so whenever you would go for like a crouching heavy into quarter circle forward heavy, you'd do it seamlessly like this ⬇ 🔴↘➡🔴. See how it completes the whole motion? That's what you should be doing. Also, notice that whenever you hit someone, there's a slight pause compared to when you whiff a move. It's also a different (longer pause) when you hit someone and they block. Usually, that's where the cancels should be happening, as in, the button press. The command can be input earlier, as long as you press the button inside the cancel window.
I hope this helps you with the basic combos, so you can enjoy fighting games more and more.

Whenever you can squeeze in some time, definitely get some off-stream practice in! I even recommend just practicing the input motions by just looking at your controller and _slowly_ moving your thumb along each input. Just get a good tactile feel for it, how your thumb muscles move, where your thumb goes. The do the same while not looking at the controller. Then hopefully when you actually play the game you have a better mental picture of what's required to consistently execute the inputs.
I'm not into many fighting games but killer instinct is always fun to watch and play. One I hope you play if you go on a fighting game journey, plus the music is awesome as man

Not just to see what goofiness she ends up with the character creator, but actually the story mode really is a solid way to go about learning how to play the game while also being legitimately fun. (Also I just really love seeing the various characters as actual characters).
Imagine she plays Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves when it comes out.
Then it can be 'a rock playing as Rock'.

Hey Bijou, this one thing will save you literal years of fighting game struggles:
Use a hitbox OR keyboard w/ speed silver switches as your controller.
I'll explain why in my next comment.
tl;dr hitbox/keyboard is objectively the best and EASIEST way to play fighting games in every way.
Here's why (from a fighting game veteran of over 2 decades)
1) mechanically, noobs become as good as pros after only a few hours.
2) you can focus on the fun parts of fighting games instead of execution.
3) has the easiest clean inputs since you're using buttons instead of a joystick/d-pad which are less accurate and have room for misinput.
4) faster and more accurate than all other controller types.
(Bonus) The keyboard route is cheapest and exactly the same as Hitbox just with slightly different ergonomics. You can remove un-used keys so it's less cluttered.

I dont know if someone already mentioned this, but I hope you could join Sajam Slam! Its a fighting tournament of streamers and vtubers like Racoon Cup that Towa and Botan joined. You will learn alot more with street fighter pros helping you!
It's also a lot more fun! Having a team and other players of a similar skill is always a great time. Hopefully being apart of hololive doesn't make it more complicated
