Euge... I've watched this a dozen times, and the interview with Thomas Bluge. I have a pinched nerve in my back and had given up playing out, due to the weight of carrying all my gear. You convinced me to buy the Iridium model, and man it sounds better than the video shows. I had my first practice tonight and only had to carry one bag with my BluGuitar, effects pedal, cables in it, my guitar, and a 2x12 cab. Thanks for all the great video's and inspiring me to keep on shredding! 🙂👍
I had a 50watt JMP Marshall. I purchased the Original BlugGuitar amp 1 and was blown away just like you. Once I dialed it in I could NOT tell the difference. Amazing.
Same experience here. I gigged with a '79 2203 and now it sits in the flight case. The Classic Channel on the Amp-1 Silver (I haven't actually tried the Mercury) is great

The other guitar player in my band has a 1973 Twin Reverb - those things are heavy and loud - I am running the Mercury Amp1 into a 1x12 and we sound fantastic together...master volume of the Amp1 never exceeds 4 and there are no issues with hearing both guitars.

This was a really good Demo! I was impressed how the Amp1 Iridium sounded compared to your Bad Boy Marshall, no 2 Marshall’s sound the same but the Amp1 Iridium sounded like it was made the same day as your bad boy.

This is exceptional….I can’t wait till the “X” version comes out. That said, Thomas said he designed one of these channels off of the Soldano. I’d love to hear a good demo of that channel. That would be worth the purchase in and of itself. Great demo Euge!

I traded my Axe Fx FM3 for one of these. It is honestly one of the best amps right out the box. It might even out performed my Evh amps which i consider to be be the best plug n play amps
I could see it in your face during the opening jam that you really enjoyed playing through that little Blug thing. It sounds pretty freakin amazing if I do say so myself. It's most definitely a perfectly viable option for someone who's looking for the same type of tones as the one's you created here, if size/freight/shipping etc is too prohibitive for a touring musician (or just someone who jams along with friends at local pubs/venues). Great review!
Great review! No wonder Ben Granfelt uses these (the Mercury edition IIRC) nowadays, watched a live gig stream from him and a couple of others during this lockdown. Not related to this product, but Granfelt was a long time Engl Blackmore user too :) Now, I don't remember if he perhaps used the (rarish) Slowhand or Fasthand editions of the Blackmore head, or the regular one. He was actually one of the reasons why I got one and still love it.

Your video made me put an Iridium on my pedalboard and I swear to god. Les Paul -> SD-1 -> Iridium Classic channel -> Marshal 1960AV impulse response sounds sooooo close to Images And Words rythm guitar tone. I'm lovin' it!
I play the AMP1 Mercury on all my cruise ship shows and it is a game changer - killer tones. HOWEVER -- it does NOT top the tone of a GOOD vintage 100w Marshall head - which i obviously use on local shows, not fly dates.. Can't wait for the AMP X to be released by the ever humble Thomas Blug.
hahahah you're reaction at 3:37 was priceless! lol It souds awesome, but the badboy has that bottom end thump that is massive... guess a little tweak on the Blu could fix that.
😎 The Bad Boy is unique but a little tweaking & AMP1 is pretty much indentical. When I did a live stream with Thomas Blug a while ago he tweaked it so well that I couldn’t tell the difference when we did a blind test. I was blown away. Again 😎.

My main goal would be to use it at home, and I don't think I would want to also have the control switch in order to activate the power soak feature. Thanks!
Yeah it works really well on all volume levels and works great without a cab too directly in the mixer / PA. The response is a bit different obviously than with a load (cab or reactive load) but I got it really close with a Neunaber Iconoclast speaker emulator since we don’t use cabs in Cyhra but just DI and in-ears.
Great demo and playing! Actually, the 100W doesn't come from this nanotube, this is just there to simulate the sound behavior of a tube power amp. It works on low power levels, but after that, the real power stage is a class-d amp. So there should be no interaction between the speaker load and the power amp as you assumed. ;)

Dang it Euge. Please don't entice me to buy another new amp. I promised my wife that my plexi is the last amp I need. Which I have said probably 10 times now with different amps. That doesn't include pedals, microphones, plug INS, and preamps. Not to mention the new custom GMP guitar or two ( I Can't make my mind up between 2 designs and I own 6 aleady) I am getting for my birthday this July. My wife will hate me (and you !!) LOL... I have played the last „Die Krupps“ tour in Europe with three amps (modded Marshall, Fryette Deliverance 120 and a Laney mixed) and started to use the Iridium (back then, that still was a pre production Prototype #3) after the first four or five shows additionally to the real amps. Two shows later we stopped using the tube amps, as the Iridium’s signal was good enough and is a „no-brainer“ for the guitar tech/crew.... Very good product!!!

I use the original version before the mercury edition for my ussual rigs, and dont wanna use any digital anything that was too much again after using this and picked it up this 3 years ago. If I understand correctly, it's a bit different than a tube amp. It actually is a solid state power section, so the tube doesn't make it loud. The tube is involved into the power section though and it makes it sound more organic than a traditional solid state power amp. It is (like you mentioned) not a modeling amp. The preamp section doesn't have a tube if I remember correctly, but it's all real circuit based sound and not computer stuff like Kemper. Have seen many reviews of the thing and it seems to be a fantastic piece of gear. Best review of this thing so far, because it seemed very authentic :) I bet, Thomas Blug could dial them in even closer. He knows his shit very well. Used to work as an amp designer for Hughes & Kettner for years, but eventually wanted to do his own stuff. He's a great guitar player too :) Thanks for this great review.
Yeah I guess it’s a bit different but whatever it is it felt & sounded like I was playing with my old Bad Boy 😎. Never thought I’d see a day that an amp actually makes me feel like my trusty old Marshall but goddamn this thing did it. Thanks man!

I have played the last „Die Krupps“ tour in Europe with three amps (modded Marshall, Fryette Deliverance 120 and a Laney mixed) and started to use the Iridium (back then, that still was a pre production Prototype #3) after the first four or five shows additionally to the real amps. Two shows later we stopped using the tube amps, as the Iridium’s signal was good enough and is a „no-brainer“ for the guitar tech/crew.... Very good product!!!

Yeeeah the amp1 is awesome. I use the original version before the mercury edition for my ussual rigs, and dont wanna use any digital anything that was too much again after using this and picked it up this 3 years ago. And now i wanna have the iridium after watching this, hoping mr blug will have distributor in Indonesia 😊😊😊

If I understand correctly, it's a bit different than a tube amp. It actually is a solid state power section, so the tube doesn't make it loud. The tube is involved into the power section though and it makes it sound more organic than a traditional solid state power amp.
It is (like you mentioned) not a modeling amp. The preamp section doesn't have a tube if I remember correctly, but it's all real circuit based sound and not computer stuff like Kemper.
Have seen many reviews of the thing and it seems to be a fantastic piece of gear. Best review of this thing so far, because it seemed very authentic :)
I bet, Thomas Blug could dial them in even closer. He knows his shit very well. Used to work as an amp designer for Hughes & Kettner for years, but eventually wanted to do his own stuff. He's a great guitar player too :)

@@EugeValovirta230V you mentioned the mercury edition as sounding different. I'm pretty much all 70s and 80s rock, hard rock and classic metal ie. For me Iron Maiden is about as heavy as I get lol. Will the Iridium do those tones as well as the Mercury's? Or is there a big difference? Thanks man.
Yeah they both do those really well. Mercury is just a bit more ”vintage”.
