These are BY FAR the best BOSS synth guitar examples I've seen online. Most sound really cheesy with crappy delay. Thanks for this!
An incredible demo for an incredible pedal. Really nicely done with great, contextually musical parts for each of the patches. Fantastic!
Best demo yet. I have one on order - and now I'm even more enthused to get my hands on it!
How did it turn out? 😃
@@javiceres I enjoyed it …but found the complexity didn’t quite pay for what I was doing.
@@davidhallowell3457 I see. Thanks.
Did you use the GK pick up?
@@javiceres I did. It worked well. Actually the GK Strat is a nice little guitar on its own…so I still use that.
@@davidhallowell3457 Great to know all this. Thank you !!
2:04 Wow. That sounds great holy shit
St
As a VG8 user, I can say that the technology has certainly evolved - those acoustic sounds are excellent!!
I had a VG8 too. Great machine! .Sold it to buy the VG99 that I'm still using today. This is the new generation but we are the pionners!! haha
The acoustic sounds are going to be a key factor in my replace-the-GP-10 decision
BEST SY-1000 demo so far!!!! Thank you so much!
This is the best video of the SY-1000 so far. I wasn't caring for it much up until a few days ago but now I'm liking what I'm hearing.
Yeah, this is the best demo so far...I'm really wanting to see a straight up guitar/ amp modeling demo that skips the synth side of this unit, but this video touches on the guitar/ amp modeling side better than any currently on UA-cam IMO...
This is a REALLY exciting piece of kit, combining several other units' worth of cool features in one package.
I love the demo, very professional made and on the point!
Damn that cello sound is legit. I have no use for this pedal but it sounds so good!
I would get it just for if you’re writing a song and think like “a string section here would sound amazing” and bam now you can record stuff like that
You had me at “(no talking)”
"No talking". Thank you very much!
Great demo, your playing was appropriate to the tone sounds. This thing sounds awesome!
Fantastic simple and complete video. Now i want the damn thing!
No talking thing really good, thanks a lot, no bullshit. 🙏
1:24 it is so amazing
Dude, this is seriously awesome!
I agree, best demo! Amazing sounds.
Very well done demo of this unit. Thank you for your effort in getting this done. I can't help but think that Boss has taken the old Roland VG 99 stuff and the Boss Sy 300 stuff and updated it and gave it an editor and put it in this box. I was hoping to hear some fatter, more Moogish synth sounds as that is where the SY 300 really feel down. Also, you had the reverb on for every sound you did, hearing it dry would have given me a better idea a to how this unit really sounds.
Again, a great demo overall. Thanks.
Just letting you know that the BOSS SY1000, is way, WAY more than you describe it is a Synth/Instrument Modeller, Ac, Bass, Elec Gtr, Sitar, Banjo, Alt tuning, (can tune any chord or note 2 octaves up or down), sound creation power house. It has 6 times the power of the SY300, you can use 3 GR300's at once and 6 Sequencers on 3 Synth's if you want, plus every FX, IR you could want for Gtr, Bass and Synth's, plus with the October 2022 V1.08 update Boss have fixed all small issues and glitches with the System Software, all the best, Daniel.
Please, can you help me and tell me which one is the best synthesizer guitars module :
GR50 ? SY1000 ? GM800 ?
For the Tracking/Latence ?
Or the GR300 ?
Many thanks in advance.
Phil.
Been looking at synth pedals, I have a few and after watching this I realize it’s likely best to just buy an actual Synthesizer and play the keys on that. A pedal that requires a hexaphonic pickup and a PC to discover things with is just more complicated than continuing to play guitar and an actual keyboard Synthesizer simultaneously
Off to Korg I go.
I'm a guitarist of many years but with very little keyboard experience. So I bought a cheap 88 midi keyboard to use with some free synth plugins to see if i should be pursuing an approach like you suggest. I made sure that they keyboard could easily remap the keys so that I'd have all the white keys as diatonic and middle as the root of whatever key. But with music like blues and key changes, I'm now coming to the conclusion that all the years spent playing guitar, learning scales, intervals, inversions, CAGED etc etc just cant be easily ported to the keyboard, so i think i need a synth for my guitar
Good demo, thanks!
Great demo . Some cools sounds for sure
I have developed a GK Wireless System for GR55. I should also work with SY-1000 but I don't have one to test it.
I have a GR 55. Tell me more about your wireless system please!!
The 13 pin cord is awful!
Thanks!
Market it. I need one.
My old GR-20 is still doing what I need it to do.
Awesome demo! ❤
Bloody brilliant.
Awesome pedal! Love IT!
Hello, why it was connected to audio interface, although Boss has own audio/midi interface. Isn't it??
Does anyone know - Can you get piano, strings, brass as on the GR55 and Tripleplay - and are there presets for the more traditional sounds. Also, does it need a special pickup?
Does this thing have regular instrument tones like sax, piano, fiddle, organ, flute, banjo etc?
It doesn't have any samples of those instruments no but it does have a banjo and other acoustic and electric stringed instrument models in it.
Much better than the demo vids that Boss has put out. I am really looking forward to getting mine. And did I hear a testament riff with the baritone setting?
Great video, thanks for sharing !!
Is there any chance of showing the Bass Mode too? no on has done a demo that mode yet.
Great demo. Thank you
1:26 Real violin !
Nice review.
I've been using a Boss GT-1 + SY-300 + EV-5 + RC-3 as my main guitar rig since they were released, replacing my GT-100. IIRC, the GT-1 was released before the SY-300, the SY-300 convinced me to get the GT-1 to reduce the size of my rig.
I have a few guitars with GK pickups, and have a GP-10 as well, but the SY-300 not needing the GK keeps me from upgrading to the SY-1000.
I can get GT-1 only, SY-300 only or both, and I use the EV-5 to blend (level) of the SY-300; I use the RC-3 to layer sounds/loops. Works great for me.
what could you recommend before taking the plunge with GK-enabled world now? I wanted to buy a midi-upgrade for my guitar and pair with some synth, but now I figured I need some GK-enabled stuff that is able to pass midi further. I guess, I'd be alright with some hardware just passing GK → normal midi with all the bends and pitches, but I haven't found such device.
@@jat5am I upgraded my GT-1 / GT-100 to the GT-1000; using the GT-1000 + SY-300 together, though I had to get a line mixer since Boss decided to remove the Aux In TRS from the GT-1000 which was on both the GT-1 and GT-100.
For my GK / 13 pin guitars, I've been using the Boss SY-1000 for several months, it also let me retire my GP-10.
I'd spend time looking at the SY-1000 manual and videos to see if you need it.
The SY-300 is worth a look if you don't want to get into the GK system. There's also the SY-1 and SY-200 which I haven't tried, but could be worth a look to see if either will meet your needs.
A sustain pedal input might have been a good Idea to stack up huge chords.
Excellent video, thanks for posting. New sub. A+
I have a decent synth and I almost bought the sy1, like in the shopping cart and almost checked out and stopped myself. tempted to get this instead and go all in
What's the difference between sy1000 ang gr55?
GR-55 uses PCM, SY-1000 generates all it's own tones.
Can I get clean piano sound and flute???
I take it that the recording is directly over the onboard USB, right?
Shut up and take my money Boss..
Does guitar quality matter when using an SY-1000? I'm not sure whether I should use this on my main guitar or a cheaper guitar...
Hello,
is there any difference in "AMP modeling" sound quality when output of standard pickups goes through GK-3 system + 13 pin “MIDI” cable (Roland GKC) to “GK in” input of Boss SY-1000 and when output of standard pickups goes direct to “Guitar input” of Boss SY-1000?
Thank you very much.
Great Demo, i recognize that bracelet on the hand hahah!, I wonder if you could connect this to the kemper?
Can the editing software be used simultaneously with the Boss WAZA Tube Amp Expander? (i.e. can you see the signal path for both devices after logging into the editing app one time?)
How are you getting the guitar signal in? With the GK port or regular guitar cable?
Can't understand, what is the boss studio app in the video? Anyone know full name or have link?
Does it have nylon guitar sim?
Благодарю 🙏
余計なしゃべりが無く、どれだけのプリセットサウンドが在るかが判る、正に「本当に役立つ動画」です。ハラショー!
Thanks
Fantastic!
Good job
Can you put this on a pedal bird or it has to be used alone?
What is a hexaphonic pick up? Sounds expensive.
Is this new unit compatible for Bass Guitar?
Hey, so this thing won’t work without the GK-3? Just got one today, and nothing sounds when I plugged in my guitar...
buy a gk 3...u will love it
Better yet, buy a synth access Godin guitar, you won't regret it
Or a Carvin SH575
@@nicknettle954 Or a Brian Moore iGuitar.

Dear Germans, please note that nobody ever says "E-Guitar". Other than that, great demo!
Coming from a world of analog mono & poly synths, how well does this translate string-style slides (glides) polyphonically into synthesis? I hear a lot of monophonic glides, but I can get that from a traditional keyboard input. Will this (when paired with the GK3) give guitar-like 6-voice slides and such? Also, does it do a good job of palm muting one voice while sustaining others, and how are rhythmic mutes, taps, hammer ons, pull offs, etc.? These are the things that could interest me about this.
found anything?
Great toy!
❤❤❤
I'm asking myself what the target group for this unit is. I think this is too big for most people who gig and I would imagine that someone who owns a studio would know how to do this type of stuff even more convincing with real synths or plugins.
Also a lot of guitarists/bassists already have boards and are looking for smaller units that they can place on their boards. I know, Boss has made the SY-1 and it's a nice pedal, but the SY-1 doesn't have MIDI and is not really flexible enough for my liking.
What I'd be interested in is something in between.
sy 300
Sy 200 now.. lol
Does it output midi to a DAW?
I’d like to thank Boss for leaving SY-300 owners in the dust.
Good demo please tell me the cost
999 US
I need
...holding for the Bass version ;) but this is amazing sounding
It has a dedicated bass mode.
you use the roland divided bass pickup (GK-3B)
Its good! :)
Wish this pedal wasn't literally $1,000
1:24 👌🏼
SY-1000 Bass Please!
AGREED!
biggest flaw of boss sy1000 is the two buttons on gk-3 dont work to cycle thru the patches.
other flaw is 95% of patches are useless to make any music.
roland gr55 is way better if you want a synth toy. useful synth is the vg series of roland.
Vg 99 and gr 55 combo are still better
1:24 P12-1 reminds me VG-8...
I also checked out the SY-1000 and was veeeery disappointed. The technology and tracking has improved but Boss just offered a bunch of sounds that you can't really use in songs unless you want to impress somebody that never heard of synthesizers before. Spending 1000 Dollars on this unit? Are they serious? Didn´t anybody at Boss listen to it? The SY-300 came out 5 years ago... no improvement and the presets weren´t that good. Roland's GR-55 came out in 2011. It had better sounding presets back then!
But does it affect your tone? :) :) :) :)
If you plug it in and it doesn't, something is very wrong. =D
Funny
It effects your wallet

"CONTORL MODE"
brutal balitone kkkkk comédia viu
Great demo, cool tracker, but who REALLY is going to use this?
Bands like Muse, Radiohead.. People like Matt Bellamy, Jonny Greenwood and Ed O'Brien
Soundtrack composers, advertisement composers, television music producers...
@@alphajames33 IDK, it seems like a studio would just use synths or plugins on a daw. I watched a couple demos, and except for a rare occasion that maybe needs guitar inflection on a synth sound, why would bands, that have keys, even bother with it?
@@jjrusy7438 You got a point. But some people know guitar, and never learneed a keybord or a synth or piano. I don't know...
dont be a fool with technology .. play the guitar like you should
Yes...BUT! -- Once you learn to "play the guitar like you should". This could be insane. Need . it . now.
"Who needs guitars? We've got little computer synthesizer thingies!"
How SHOULD it be played ? With that mentality we would have never had a Hendrix or Tom morello or dimebag or Brian may.
The tittle needs to add another 0
Thanks for the hint! I have corrected it.
I am waiting for seconds for the sy300 to go down in price, but it gets worse and worse!! (everyday I check) It just can't cost more than gt100 (half of a gt1000 price). That is a crime!. And then they made this sy1000 and I am sure it costs like twice a gt1000, and it needs a gk3! the only reason I never bought a roland gr55.
Man, it was the other way round, All they had to do was improve the Sy300 and make it better, that is all. Nobody wants that crap gk3 in their guitars and look like clowns (futuristic clowns). I know people will say, "use it without the gk3", I know it is possible, but then if I ever get a sy1000 I will know I am missing something by not using the gk3 part of the pedalboard.
Anyway, my real question is Why is the sy300 so expensive!? The build is like half of the size of the gt10 and the technology it uses is not really good. If it costed 400 USD I would buy it, I know in some countries you can even get it cheaper than that, but Argentina sucks in terms of imports! In some publishings it goes almost as expensive as a gt1000, nobody will buy that!
Get a synth access guitar, problems solved!
thank u for the great demonstration for show me that for shure i dont need that for anything. I wait years for a new Sinth and what i get is this crap. Bad sounds, most of all dont need for anything. Wake up guys, what are u doing? Who had this ideia? U go lost too many on sales.
Shit!!
"Hello there, this is 1983 calling from the past, yes hi there, we uh, we'd really, really, really like to borrow this for a while trust me it's gonna be great. What's that you say? We can't have it? Well then we'll just come to you then."

Buy a digital keyboard 😂
"Best demo" - really?, when one doesn't even see what's being played on the instrument itself (presumably guitar)? Sure, the unit sounds nice and it seems the player is proficient, but it would more than double the effectiveness of this 'demo' if one could see how these sounds were being triggered.. You'd think a fellow with 44k subs would have mastered a 2 cam technique.
He didn't even give us his clean tone first!
