I gotta say, I never was really into this Prop Shop series, mostly because that first guy only used cardboard and duct tape, and the girl is a newbie into prop making. However, that older dude and this guy are really good. I mean, at first I thought "probably a rolling pin with some cloth", but that turned out really nice. If he had a little more time for sanding and cleaning up, that would be a perfect replica. Keep the good guys, lose the bad ones.

michael ashbrook Grilled leeks are a little joke because it's a food you can find in the game. A more common joke would be a sweet roll. You're exploring through a zombie-infested dungeon and there's a sweet roll, a rusty sword, and a plate of grilled leeks beside that skull and healing potion. Makes sense in Skyrim logic.
A few things. First, I imagine there should be rewind springs so that the scroll goes back into the housing nicely. Second, if you look at the Oblivion version, you can see constellations.
I made one of these a while back. If you want far better details, make the end caps and handles on a lathe instead of whatever random stuff you can find at a hardware store
Dustin is over at Mashable now, doing basically the same thing, but for costumes. There aren't many episodes yet, but I think it's called DIY costume squad
FYI, the black piping is ABS, and not PVC. For crafting the only different you need to know is they glue differently if you're trying to make it water/air tight. (pvc requires 2 step, abs requires a different 1 step glue)
