Can recall Ken Golden mentioning this during 2023 and thought I had ordered. But like Chris Alo, I either have the olds or can't find the item or both. But enjoyed listening to it then and a good recommendation as discussed in your review. Thanks for the review of this, Pete. It reminds me to organize those 2023 CD purchases. Thanks again.
Thanks to Laser's Edge having this and other Seelie Court releases, it sent me down the collecting Seelie Court cds rabbit hole😂😂. Too bad Bodkin and Grannie are long sold out...
Got this a couple of months ago - liked 5 tracks: "Joke Without Words", "In For A Quick One", "Do The Azimuth", "More Feathers More Dogs" & "Ratification". I'm someone who likes some Canterbury (my Canterbury Prog playlist is close to 400 tracks long) but not the more 'out there' stuff - so no Egg or Gilgamesh for me - but yes to Hatfield, Caravan & Soft Machine. One description: "Mixing the Canterbury sound with a dash of art-rock, this LP is recommended for fans of Soft Machine, Caravan, Egg and Hatfield & The North". Also there's an interview with the band posted to the site Psychedelic Baby Mag (all one word for the actual site address). That mentions the prior band Primrose Path: "Primrose Path was essentially a covers band, with a leaning towards the psychedelic. The line-up was Mark Sugden (who instigated the project, and whom I met at school), on vocals and trumpet, Martin Harvey on violin and vocals, me on keyboards, Phil Howard-Jones on bass, and Gordon Hale on drums. We had varying tastes, so the set was made up of a mix of different genres. We played Velvet Underground, stuff off the first Pink Floyd album, and a cover of a cover-the Vanilla Fudge arrangement of the Supremes’ ‘You Keep Me Hangin’ On’. On one occasion we tackled the intro to Richard Strauss’s tone poem ‘Also Sprach Zarathustra’, with Mark on trumpet and me playing the (probably wrong) chords."
Some other/'new' stuff (2023 & archival) I've laid into recently that may not have gotten mentioned yet: Windy Corner/Lost Garden - nice 1972 folky/psyche prog with dual guitars. I think pretty hard to find on LP/cd Agitation Free/Momentum - good band but this new one from this year is just OK for me Dirty Honey/Can't Find The Brakes - nice new rock album, as good as their s/t debut from 2019. High energy! Edward Bear - Canadian rock band from late 60's/early 70's, some good stuff Friends/Fragile - from '72, folky rock Nemo/Doin' Nuthin' & s/t - mid 70's prog Blue Deal/Can't Kill Me Twice (2023) - fiery blues rock, this cooks! Elevenwire/Blood Red Sun (2023) - new prog Joanne Shaw Taylor/Black Magic (2023) - I have quite a bit of her stuff - this one's just OK Lucas De Mulder/Feel The Spirit (2023) - Funky! Reno Bo/Never Night Time On The Sun (2023) - good rock album by the Marble Jets guy. His prior Lessons From A Shooting Star & You Can See It All From Here are also good Romeo's Daughter/Slipstream (2023) - nice new AOR & made me investigate the older stuff: there's Spin, Rapture & Organik (EP). All at a pretty high level - Spin's probably their best (from 2015). They've actually been around since the late '80's but their earlier releases didn't click with me
Im to the point now where im having to start making the decision of not getting into older bands anymore. I get much more of a rush these days from finding newer bands that are great and when it comes to music i dont stream so i buy cds which get pricy when your trying to get music from 50 to 60 years
Sounds interesting will have to check this out, cheers Pete!
Worthing is a lovely seaside town on the South Coast of England. Well worth a visit! Don't know this album at all, will give it a listen...
3.5. Ok. Nice review and. Thanks for your time. Pete 👍💯
Love this album.
Mandatory listen for any Hatfield and the North fan!!!

Thank you Pete for another fun review. I have this CD as per Mr. Golden’s high recommendation. I really like this band. Happy New Years.

You had me at "obscure Canterbury".
A great reissue of a great album. Agree that this is catnip for Hatfield fans!

Will check it out. I would also recommend the band Aardvark for similar obscure Canterbury vibes.
I like the track "Very Nice Of You To Call" from their s/t album
This is another new name to me but I'll give it a try - they do say aardvark never hurt anyone...
