I started repairing and building almost 30 years ago, and still to this day have never had the chance to speak with John he is truly someone to listen to and learn from, this is so cool to hear him. Thanks to the Gourmet. As a side note, I am also a trained chef(retired)
Thanks a lot for posting all of these videos. these are so interesting to watch and listen too. People who are the best at what they do, are the most interesting people to listen to. And these videos seem to fit that bill nicely.
Thanks for the videos. I'm wondering how the vibrations of arch top guitars affect the amplified sound when the pickups are designed to translate the vibrations of the strings in a magnetic field, not the acoustic waves emanating from the guitar itself. Any affect the guitar has on the vibration of the strings must be infinitesimal. The guitar pick-up is not a microphone. Les Paul knew this but since the invention of the electric guitar it seems to have been forgotten.
If only there were a video of John taking a top (and bottom) from the pantographed state down to the final carved top, and watch how he taps it, listens to it, and adjusts the sound as he goes, with commentary.
Geezzzzzz guys why didn't you just stick the camera right up his mouth too.... We could have a close look at anything that's been going on between him and his dentist for the last few years.
John, very noble of you to produce this and share your knowledge.Thanks.
Jim

John Monteleone is like a very wise , 1000-year old wizard.

It might be coming ... you just never know!
we should thanks the italian ancestors for contributing so much to the civilization and such a fine piece of art.
John Monteleone = the Godfather.
I don't understand how a real builder could watch this video and not learn important wisdom as well as details.....
Seriously, his voice is identical to Donald Sutherland's!
wierd. my last name is monteleone and i play mandolin and and guitar and my studio name is SoundBox
this tells me nothing as a builder
Dave Danze .... Good.
