Thanks for sharing this terrific solution. In addition to the benefits you have mentioned, I love the fact that it is attached to the enclosure. This eliminates the need to find space for the Snapmaker filtration unit which is quite large and heavy. I would like an option to vent outdoors, for smells that might be particularly offensive, so I may look for a similar model where I can attach an exhaust hose. Might be selling my lightly used SM Air Filtration unit in the near future!

There are 3D print attachments apparently and one that mounts to the top?

I am receiving my purchase today, and I’m confused. I hope you don’t mind answering a question. I purchased the sm filter because my craft room isn’t near a window and I was told this is what you use. Then after payment I was hearing you then have to vent the air filter to the outdoors. Is that right?

@@Kimberlymogan I believe so, I don’t have personal experience with the unit but it does have an outlet. I guess it’s covering them as the filters don’t block absolutely everything and smell can still be an issue. I never vent outside with my filters and all you get is a bit of smell.

@@whatcouldgowrong7914 I don’t care much about smells. I just don’t wanna kill myself or my husband in a couple years.

@@Kimberlymogan It’s more so about being mindful of what you laser cut, the filters will catch most stuff but anything with glues or plastics be careful as they can produce fumes and worth doing a bit of research on if you laser them often. I was just concerned with smoke and the filters do an excellent job for that

great use of 3rd party filtration. I was going to do that but realized that if I just buy the designed filtration which can be controlled by the unit I can make my own filters when they need to be replaced. I bought the nice filtration when it was on sale for $300USD. Been using it for over a year and so happy I don't have to worry about on/off control or automatic low/medium/high control.

IKEA do an identical unit with an additional 'gas filter' for A$20 more:
"The gas filter purifies the air from various gaseous pollutants such as formaldehyde, which can be found in things like cleaning/ household products and various fabrics and materials in your home.
The gas filter helps to reduce the odour of smoke, cooking odours and other unpleasant odours that may be present in the home"
