Lin-Manuel Miranda On ‘His Dark Materials’ And Michelle Obama | TODAY
Lin is my favourite because he always looks so humbled when people talk about his accolades. Just the most down to earth, sweet guy!

“In The Heights, coming in June, trailer soon” music to my ears. I can’t wait for that. His current projects sound amazing. Thank you so much for your time and talent, Lin.
Yes, I just saw in the UA-cam search results that there would be a musical movie version, I never saw the show, so I can't wait for the movie.
@@NellieKAdaba I cannot wait for the movie :D
“Where animals talk”???? Honey you know nothing about daemons huh
I think she meant the bears...
Haha
She also called His dark materials a HBO series as well when it's a BBC series and HBO have nothing to do with production, they just have the US broadcasting rights.
Elsa Rainbow the bears talk and so do other species, in carrying fluency
And also his character's daemon is a hare, not a rabbit.
Me: *sees Lin's face and clicks with speed
Aramide Akanni yesss
3:52 HIS FACE WHEN SHE SAID “I HADN’T HEARD OF YOU BEFORE THEN” OMG
Can't we recognise that he did In the Heights or Moana too?
h o n e y I love Moana.
Or Hamilton 😍
Lin is still precious.
He will always be.
No one can tell me otherwise.
The dislikes are Thomas Jefferson-
It's amazing to see Lin literally repeating the exact same thing on different shows (the tennis ball thing, Pizza Rat as his daemon)

Lin Manuel Miranda talking about his dark materials Hamilton broadway in the heights Mary Poppins returns father Luis Miranda jr background
Thats my favourite part too
I appreciate that he didn’t repeat “Spirit Animal” most people don’t realize that it is actually offensive to Native Americans.
It is? How come? I have heard of that term before but dont know much about them. I genuinly am curious :) Can you explain a bit more what spirit animals entail in Native American culture? :)
10animallover10 Here is an article that I found that can help. www.spiralnature.com/spirituality/spirit-animal-cultural-appropriation/
I am not Native American but I work and am friends with individuals who are so we have discussions about cultural appropriation and racism in black and brown communities. My friend and I actually have a list of “No No Words” that we have decided to strike from our vocabulary because they actually have racist origins and are offensive to people of color. They are just so ingrained in our vocabulary that we don’t notice.
10animallover10 Here is someone I follow on instagram to also try to learn as much as I can on what is happening in Native communities.

@@LadyA728 Thank you for spreading this, I had no clue about this problem. I will definitely educate myself now, and hopefully continue spreading it.
RainbowPanic No problem!

I just turned 29...Lin performed in front of the president at 29. That makes me feel...great.
I see lin. I click.
WE’RE GETTING AN IN THE HEIGHTS MOVIE?!?
I saw a trailer.
I screamed.
This is the best thing yet.
Until we get a Hamilton movie.
Yas queen
@@z2yn agreed, and to think there are people out there that dislike Lin-Manuel Miranda.
Wait what Lin is in Duck Tales? This man gets around geez
Yeah the rebooted version. And the only reason I'm interested in seeing the cartoon.
lin manuel miranda talking about his dark materials, hamilton, in the heights, mary poppins returns, and his father Luis miranda jr background

First comment tell lin Manuel miranda that's he's a great composer
I apologies I am like 666 XD
I read that title wrong,
So.... like the movie Golden Compass?
Julia Kramer it’s a book dude.
@@Fantallana yah, I know. and it's a movie too
@Iris Joves ah okay! I should re-read the book before watching this

*o u t g u n n e d*
i see what you did there
'Where animals talk?' Daemons are not animals! I hoped she did some more homework. It are people's souls we talk about in the series, not mere talking animals.. That makes it sound so much less that what they actually entail. And Hester is a hare, not a rabbit. She's way too big (an Arctic hare to be exact).
10animallover10 polar bears are not daemons, and they talk.
@@Fantallana Then, in my opinion, she should have said 'Where polar bears talk' to be more specific. Animals, when used in such a sentence, often include multiple types of species and the polar bears are the only animals that talk.
Is Miranda religious at all? I'm surprised he's involved with "His Dark Materials", which Pullman wrote with the intention of leading to children to atheism (like the Narnia books are intended to lead children to Christianity). This isn't so apparent in book 1, but becomes clear before the close of book 2.
Id argue it’s not a theme that is so front and centre that a child esp would be significantly altered by
@@rebeccaelliott9770 I really cannot say in regard to adaptations like this TV series without seeing it. But in regard to books 2 and 3: I disagree. It's clear that the fallen angels are the good guys (who always tell the truth) and anyone representing God is evil (and in the end God is mysteriously absent).
He only believes in Chris Jackson
Robert Ahearne I think he has the intelligence to recognise amazing writing and wonderful stories he isn't bogged down in religious dogma.
