Arizona's Adobe Architecture: The Sonoran Row House

- Join Alex La Pierre, nonprofit BCA's program director for this special Borderlands Forum event featuring Arizona's own architectural style, the Sonoran Row House. While many of us are aware of the other Southwestern architectural traditions, such as the Pueblo revival or Santa Fe style that persist into the present, far less has been shared about Arizona's own vernacular building tradition. This video presentation will uncover the origins of the adobe Sonoran Row House, explore existing examples and their qualities, discuss their historic preservation as well as explain the efforts to make Tucson's Barrio Viejo a National Historic Landmark.

GREAT history lesson. I have 1 problem with your reference of race. There's only 1 race: HUMAN. Distinguishing between different people should be ethnicity and/or culture, NOT race. What different ethnicities/cultures see as strange/weird/backward is their opinion from what they've been raised: Ones culture/ethnicity.
For historical reasons I agree with you. Race has been used in the past to demean certain people. However to be slightly contrarian I always like to point out the following things. The human race has some facinating adaptations. The highland peoples of south america and himalaya areas are the prime candidate. Most lowland people can't even live up there. The babies of lowland couples die in the womb. Only when lowland and highland poeple mix is the foetes viable. In science if you replaced human with rodent we would be talking about a different genus of the same species.
We might not be a different race but I hope in the next 100 years we can go and explore this facinating part of human biology.
