Very instructive, Emma. Thank-you. I tend to use a combination of all three techniques. I actually try to achieve "cauliflowering" along the horizon, at that critical "in between" stage, to achieve some cool texture for foliage onto which I will paint trunk and limbs and more defined foliage Dry on Dry. My cauliflowers initially began as accidents, but they can create interesting textures and impressions, and certainly add drama to skies as you demonstrated. ☺️
I'm a beginner and learning a lot from your videos. Great tips! I actually like how the wet on damp and wet on dry ones turned out. Hope you feel better soon!
Thank you. Going to try this later on today. I have been playing with the different water levels on paper, but now I’ll see if I can get a picture done in each one.
Hi Emma, Thank you for your tutorial, I love the second one for clouds. And the third picture for everything else 😊. Thanks for working even when sick. But you could have taken the day off, we all would have understood. You need to take care of yourself too. ❤
Thank you for this. I like the wet on wet technique, but after seeing this it makes me want to try all of them! Your tutorials are so helpful! I hope you feel better!
Great video! I think all three have their place depending on what you’re working on. Thanks for the demonstration and tips! Very helpful! Hope you feel better soon!
I actually like The way the sky came out on wet on dry, clouds have more dimension. I know you did work more on that last one compared to the other two so it looks a little bit more completed. Great tutorial, water control is definitely difficult
in skies I like blooms as long as the are perfectly aligned making an oval blossoming effect is to stand outish for me. I do like taking wet and darker layers to bring out the light/negative effect. skies really interest me a lot! thanks for sharing.
I was about to pretty much give up on watercolour, after a particularly frustrating session yesterday. I'm so glad this popped up today. I thought I wasn't adding enough water and that was the reason for the blooms. After watching this video you've made me rethink packing it in. Thank you Emma, hope you get better soon ❤
Very helpful! I was playing with a full moon in dark sky and foreground trees this morning ... I thought I knew how I wanted to proceed with wet on wet sky, dry details but it didn't go quite as I'd hoped. Partly, I didn't take into account that some of my dry becomes wet as a layer(s) added ... Watching this after helped me see what I could try next go - thank you!
I enjoy wet-in-wet but mine dries sooo quickly and I'm not in the desert or anything. Like in your video yours is still wet after 2 minutes...I find I have to work immediately. If I add more water it just puddles.
I loved this video. Very well explained and it's very clear to see the 3 examples side by side. I would like to ask you about the thin masking tape you used, if it works well without damaging the paper and where I can find it. Thank you very much!
This was a very cool and informative demonstration comparing the three techniques side by side!! 🤗😍 I would love sunrise/sunset with the rainbow of colors and with cloud elements! 🌈 They are so amazing in real life!! 🥰 God really brings out his artistic side on some of them! 🎨 We had the most incredible sunrise last week! 🌅 I feel that clouds really can bring the rise or the set to life and add so much character! ☁️ We had pillow shaped clouds, like a quilt, and they were a combination of periwinkle and cornflower blues. The sunrise went from a bright yellow sun peaking over the horizon to a bold fushia on the cloud edge! 💞 Just stunning!!✨️
It’s funny how the textures and harder edges you got in the wet on damp sky look really cool but when I’ve gotten that effect I thought I had done something wrong. I think I needed to hear you say it was’t a bad thing and actually gives a stormy look.
I used to use Winsor & Newton only because that’s what was given to me. Both are excellent. See which is more affordable and accessible for you! You can’t go wrong with either
Hej.
Very good and so helpful. You really don’t need to repeat what you are doing so many times, just painting after you tell us would be sufficient! Hope this doesn’t offend you as you are one of my favorites, sorry you’re not feeling well.
Love how she talks about doing her “detailed trees” and proceeds to scribble on lines like a 3 yr old. Guess I should be happy it isn’t a tree tutorial.🤦🏼♀️😂
As a beginner, I can’t begin to tell you how useful this was. Thanks so much.
All three are lovely, each has its charm. Thank you. Feel better soon ❤

This is brilliant, just from the triptych I see I like the dry style the best.
I'm a beginner and learning a lot from your videos. Great tips! I actually like how the wet on damp and wet on dry ones turned out. Hope you feel better soon!
Very helpful! Thank you for your thoughtful instruction. I love learning the techniques and guiding principles from your videos. 🥰
Emma, you are a gifted teacher AND artist! Thank you for sharing your excellent instruction with us!
This was an amazing tutorial. It must have been challenging to film. We appreciate your awesome tutorials❤Hope you feel better Emma
I love how the clouds on the damp paper turned out. The blooms are perfect for a dynamic sky
Great way to show the three types of watercolor painting!!! Good work...
Thank you so much for this tutorial! Personally, as a beginner I appreciate your detailed comments. Thanks again😊!
I agree! You're awesome, Emma, and I appreciate your detailed tutorials!❤
Wow, you explained that so well. Now to remember when I'm painting.
A very helpful tutorial as I'm learning. Thank you and get well soon.
Love this side by side comparison! Thank you
A great explanation plus visual effects. I will be trying this later today.
So helpful. Thanks. Get better.
Love your videos . Major beginner here. Will try this . ❤
Thank you. Going to try this later on today. I have been playing with the different water levels on paper, but now I’ll see if I can get a picture done in each one.
Thank you. Feel better soon. Get some rest
Hi Emma,
Thank you for your tutorial, I love the second one for clouds.
And the third picture for everything else 😊.
Thanks for working even when sick.
But you could have taken the day off, we all would have understood.
You need to take care of yourself too. ❤
I like the blooms 😊
Great video. Well explained and shown! Feel better!
This was very helpful to actually see the difference, thanks
Thank you for this. I like the wet on wet technique, but after seeing this it makes me want to try all of them! Your tutorials are so helpful! I hope you feel better!
Thank you so very much for this lesson.
No tutor has explained the difference as clearly as you have 💕
Great video! I think all three have their place depending on what you’re working on. Thanks for the demonstration and tips! Very helpful! Hope you feel better soon!

I learned a lot🤗 thank you for this tutorial. In the wet on dry the trees look much further away, to me.
When you explain things I get it. Thank you!
Thank you for teaching and not just painting. I am learning watercolor as a new medium
Thank you! I generally use wet on wet for skies, but i really like the way your wet on dry sky turned out! Will try it myself.
I was about to pretty much give up on watercolour, after a particularly frustrating session yesterday. I'm so glad this popped up today. Very nice and useful demonstration ❤
This was such a fun video! I don't know why, but I've always favored wet on dry so far. I still like knowing how to do the others, though.
Hi Emma thank you you taught me this awhile ago !an I do it all the time now Annuk❤️❤️🇬🇧
Great tutorial. Really helps . Feel better. 🙂
Thank you! I’m trying not to get frustrated and this helps!
You're on FIRE! That was a great demo Emma. I liked the wet/wet & the wet on dry...appreciated the negative painted clouds. 💜
Another super tutorial! I can see combining the wet/wet sky with the wet/damp grass, letting both dry and adding some sharper details. Wow!
Excellent lesson!
I enjoy wet-in-wet but mine dries sooo quickly and I'm not in the desert or anything. Like in your video yours is still wet after 2 minutes...I find I have to work immediately. If I add more water it just puddles.
Thank you for a great video, I am just a beginner and have been painting along. Feel better soon!💕
Thank you for this explanation. How interesting to achieve the desired effect. I love the center landscape. The sky is moody and cool.
Super useful, thank you! ☺️
Thank you Emma! That was very useful to see the contrast & I love watching your adept brush technique. Feel better soon
I loved this video. Very well explained and it's very clear to see the 3 examples side by side.
I would like to ask you about the thin masking tape you used, if it works well without damaging the paper and where I can find it. Thank you very much!
I think this the tape. I got it on Amazon so long ago: amzn.to/4gbKYBg
A great tutorial Emma Thank You, it helps so much
thank you, it's very informative 👍
Thank you, Emma! Take care and get well soon!
I learnt so much, thanks. I'm deffo going to do this next.
Very good for a practice session
Very helpful. Thank you.
As a beginner, I found this so useful. I still struggle with water and paint on my brush and paper.

Very useful info .... thank you
Thank you Emma for this good explanation
Anybody else see the face in the wet on damp. Very cool tutorial. I definitely like the first two. They all have their place.
Thank you for such good information!!
Thank you Emma❤
The wet on dry technique would be good for capturing those hot summer skies when you get billowing clouds with a really sharp edge. 😊
really useful. Thank you
Very helpful, thank you!
Thank you!
Great lesson
Excellent, merci
Very nice explanation
Very interesting. Feel better.
Very cool!
What brushes do you use? And what type of paper? Thanks.
much appreciated
At 11 minutes when you are going for more sky effects as damp paper dries, does the brush have more water, or more paint? thank you, please.
more water! Since there is already so much colour on the paper I just added more water to create those effects. It's the water that creates the blooms
Struggling with brand of watercolor paints. Windsor newton vs Daniel Smith. What do you use?
I used to use Winsor & Newton only because that’s what was given to me. Both are excellent. See which is more affordable and accessible for you! You can’t go wrong with either
does your brush have the same amount of water on all the three demos ?
Thank you for showing me wet on wet and dry paper ❤
Bonjour Jane. MERCI. A bientôt. Cordialement.
Sky 3 was the best :)

Wonderful learning experience! But please, go lie down and take care of yourself so you can get well faster!😷🤧🥴
Your dry looks pretty wet.
Just saying. Lol
