I wondered if you’d consider reviewing the Rockler paint sprayer you used in your recent video, or do a video of your setup to spray in your shop. I enjoy your videos, they are very informative.
+Jayson Owen thank you, yeah that's a good idea I'll try to post a video in the new year
Jon, Why did you use HDF vs Birch plywood? Is HDF cheaper, easier to use? Pro's and Con's Thanks. Another great build. You make it look so easy!
Simply wonderful...beautiful. Thanks for sharing.
Hi all, I’m still working on the drawings and will have them on my site www.jonpeters.com tomorrow. Thanks for watching and have a Happy Thanksgiving!
Jon Peters Art & Home Hi John....thanks for the plans....I notice the cabinets are fitting in a notch in the wall....how much room do you allow between the width of the cabinet box and the width between the walls? Thanks
Show Jon ...great project ...beautifull
Hey Jon Peters I'm a fan of yours
Thanks Kevin
excellent travaille merci pour ton partage
great video Jon, I love dressing up cabinets with trim too!
Looking forward to seeing the next part of this project!
How does that paint sprayer work for you? Do you think its faster than rolling/brushing?
Thanks again
Wouldn't it make more sense to fix walls before hanging nice cabinets? Paint and wall work can be messy.
Great work amigo 👍
Jon, very nice project most useful in laying out components etc. I was curious how you liked the Rockler HVLP sprayer and if you have used any others to which you can compare it. Many thanks and keep up the fun work.
How do you decide where to put your nails on different types of trim and mouldings etc?
Is there a reason why you don’t use pocket hole jointery
Always like to see everything you've make really clear, clean, and flush.
Every project you build so neatly.
Just want to say, it always a good job.
Thank you sir.
I gotta say, just like you, dressing up cabinets or pretty much anything with moulding, that's the best part for me.
Those look great, Jon. Is that house on salt or fresh water?
Really nice tutorial I personally picked up quite a few tips.
Jon hope you and your family have a awesome Thanksgiving.
Jon great job but I believe your cut list is wrong. Bottom shelf support should be 1 1/4” not 2 1/2”. Am I correct?
I appreciate the hard work you put into your work, and into these videos! I always learn something!
Great project, man i love the back paneling in those cabinets. It's a great touch that not a lot of people take the time to put into a job like this. I remodeled my pantry in the spring and we put the same paneling inside of it and it turned out just gorgeous.
+Corwyn Soldner Nice! Thanks for the comment
Great video, you make woodworking look easy. Happy thanksgiving, your videos inspired me to start woodworking myself. I sold my first piece a day ago, I can’t believe it. Thanks for making great instructive content.
So why do you shoot the nail in on the lower decorative ledge right in the rounded part? Doesn’t it ruin the look?
I like the new drone footage, Jon! I went through a phase where I used headboard in the back of all of my cabinets and shelves. It looks really sharp when painted white, in my opinion. I made these gorgeous shelves with glass doors up top to display china at our last house. Unfortunately, they were built-ins so we could not take them with us when we moved.
Very cool ! moving in to my new 2 car garage shop soon , with attached house , going to be fun building cabinets and other shop projects
Nice work brother.what's the gauge size of that nailer?
Fantastic work Jon!Your cool and calm style of explaining and demo makes it easy for newbies.Free plans/drawings a bonus.Keep up the great work.
Another great video Jon. That plywood looks amazing, great idea mixing the materials into one panel
Is there a reason you use the brad nailer over a pin nailer? The pins are easier to cover up and since you are gluing everything you don't really need that extra strength.
Hi Jon,
It fascinates me how the Americans build kitchen cabinets with face frames and painted surfaces. We use melamine for ease of cleaning and hard surface in euro style with euro hardware. No face frames as doors overlay. Your type of kitchen cabinetry was done many decades ago here but has mostly disappeared.
Nevertheless I do like the moulding work.....that's a nice touch.
Cheers
Just curious why you put a line on the inside of the side panel and drill the pilot holes from there outward (I've seen you do similar pilot holes this way in other videos)? Isn't it just as easy to strike a line and start the holes from the outside? If the drill isn't exactly perpendicular, the holes on the outside would not be aligned. Drilling from the outside in, would hide any misaligned holes in the joint. I only ask because I've made misaligned holes in this way in my own projects in the past, in applications where I was leaving the screw visible or hidden beneath buttons or flush dowel plugs. Draws the eye right to them. And I realize you're hiding these between the cabinet and the wall or the other cabinet, but still wondering if there's an advantage doing it the way you demonstrate?
Hey Jon--I wish you would have taken over for Norm Abrams when he retired from the New Yankee Workshop--that would have been AWESOME
Great video. My only complaint is that Rockler stores here in Los Angeles are mostly located way out of the way and away from major freeways. I do love going in there and looking at all the cool stuff they have. Service at the stores is also top notch.
is it possible to make such a back wall by yourself?
That looks like a really nice hole jig! The clear plexi is a nice touch. I have some plexi around here and am thinking I'll make my own with my drill press. Thanks for another great video Jon!
Hey Jon, another great video. Can you do a review of the Rockler HVLP Finishing Sprayer, or at least your thoughts on the product? The price point is pretty amazing..
Happy Thanksgiving!
Of course nice video and work that's why we watch you. Just want to take a second to say nice shop upgrades.
Hi there. Love your channel! Why did you add that lip to the back of the cabinet shelves? Is that necessary? Thx!
What drill bit is that you use for countersinking? It looks like it's tapered to the tip.
Very impressive and timely as I am getting ready to make all the cabinetry for my new house that I am building. I always love your videos, Jon. Thanks.
"...the room will get painted..." my blood pressure dropped about 10 points after that. :)
Hi John, great channel, I've been watching for a while and you've given me the confidence to give it a go, I'm about to tackle my first project.
I've got a couple of general questions after watching a few of your videos, specifically the cabinet/bookcase ones.
When you pre-drill your holes to attach the sides and top, are you pre-drilling both pieces or just the one that gets the countersink? I've watched a few of your videos repeatedly and I can't see if you're doing it or not.
The other question is related to proportions. Are there 'standard' proportions that are used when making general (not made to fit ones) furniture like book cases or cabinets?
Jon Peters can do no wrong! Fine, fine craftsmanship as always Jon. So satisfying.
Hi Jon, what is the spring like drill bit you used for adjustable shelf holes called?
Instead of drilling through your cabinet to hang it you could move the bead board in 3/4 inch and put a French cleat flush with the sides on top and near the bottom for a much cleaner finish 😊
And as always Thanks for making great videos.
Was that a pink kitchen I saw? I'm not judging bro, just asking 😏
Hi jon just wondering what blades you buy for your chop saw
U is a good teacher my friend love all ya video u really let people no wat u are doin
Looks great Jon, I'm sure you get this question a lot but I don't fully understand wood movement and I get nervous about it. Do you think the middle trim (that goes top to bottom) will expand at all, pushing the two horizontal trims out? Thanks
solid wood does not expand much along its length. It will expand along with width of the boards, but the narrower the board the less likely you would see expansion
I love your work!! Thanks for sharing!!
looks very nice that was nice video
Good kids , very helpful of you. 3:12
A high quality video as always. Thanks for sharing.
Interesting. Can't wait to see the final result!!
Another fantastic and very professional job Jon, truly an inspiration 🖒
I love how you do your sponsors, quick and simple in the beginning and get on with the project. You don't shove it down viewers throats like other UA-camrs
That HDF looks pretty nice
I noticed that your nail gun has dots on the sides. Are these Velcro furies to stop the gun from scratching floors etc in use?
Yes that’s it
Good video as always! What brand screws do you use for your cabinets
+Noah Sorensen thanks Noah, I'm not sure just dry wall screws from the hardware store
Easy instal and works well
Parabéns !!! Lindo trabalho... Interessante é a precisão dos detalhes e o acabamento... Baixei muitos vídeos seus para realizar alguns trabalhos !
nice backdrop when you were out on the chopsaw. nice work
Nice job so far Jon as usual, have a nice day.
What camera are you using?
Nice
Are those drywall screws / wood screws/ deck screws?
Deck
Excellent job, it looks great.
Parabéns q Deus continue abençoado seu trabalho
Always great stuff, Jon. Cheers.
Very nice Jon.
Muito bom.Além de tudo linda lugar.
I have seen all of your videos. Huge fan.
Question: What kind of glue do you use.
georgettamorton thanks! Titebond 2 & 3 both are good 👍
What was needle size to use to spray that primer
I use a 2.5 in a Fuji sprayer, I thin it and use Floetrol. I think a straight airless is probably best for the thick paints though. Just my .02....
Only 2 screws per cabinet to hang them? Is that enough?
was wondering the same thing...
Wow, these videos are fantastic. You make it look easy!
nice project .........
Great Video Sir!
Thanks for sharing! Great video!
Great job Jon! 👍👊
thanks a lot for your tutorial
Thanks Jon
