Battery pack is basically just a power bank. The one thing worth in the creator combo is the mic, but it think it’s better to just buy a separate wireless mic so you can also use it with other cameras. So yeah, great choice!
It's a battery pack PLUS it extends the handle and makes it easier to operate. That plus the lav mic, where you just turn it on, clip it to your shirt and start talking, make the creator combo worth it in my book.

The new DJI mic that is included in the creator combo has 8gb of internal memory and can record standalone without the pocket 3. So you absolutely can still use the DJI mic with other cameras. It's just a separate device, similar in application to using a zoom or tascam field recorder, and matching up the times in the edit. I haven't received my creator combo yet, so I cannot confirm this.. But the pocket 3 has timecode functionality, so if that also applies to the mic when working standalone (which I assume it would do), then that makes using this with other timecode cameras an absolute breeze. Not to mention when using with the pocket 3, there are no wires or bulky cold shoe mounts to worry about. The whole package remains low-profile/stealthy, which is such a selling point of this camera for folks who record in public.
Just got the Creator combo and love it. The camera is awesome and the Mic 2 is a perfect match. No wires bulking up the package when recording 3rd party mics. This Creator combo is a good value. It' ssuch a small package, it's like going stealth when recording in public.

yeah its most cost effective to purchase the creator combo from the get go. Unfortunately I don't have the budget for it at the moment and I really want the camera bigtime. I'm looking at Ulanzy wireless USB C mics for about 40 bucks. Looks cool and might hold me over until maybe beginning of next year when I purchase the Mic2 Set. Enjoy your Pocket3! this thing is fun. Black Friday I will get the Z8 since I have been Nikon for ever. And when this came out. I am big into time lapse and its function to basically have a camera man is awesome. I do like that rig you have set up to do BTS .. do you have links to it. I Jimmy rigged some old Osmo action stuff mimic what you have. This will be the best selling creator can in 2024 and the low light is crazy. I shoot a lot of dance so this will be great for lowkey low profile shoots in interesting locations.

The moment I saw the included mic that can do internal recording @ 32-bit float, the creator combo was a no-brainer. The new firmware update also adds the option to create a secondary audio file when using the Mic2 for ambient sound capture from the camera itself. A creator's dream.

The Pocket3 lifespan is longer if charged with the regular charger 30w , not the fast charger. Fast chargers (over 30w) cause more heat buildup in the battery.
That's what I did. I can still use my boya microphone, so in my opinion this is a great option. For content creators definitely a game changer 1inch camera with crazy nice 4k 60fps
I don't like the distortion of the wide angle adapter, and I doubt anyone would be able to create a rectilinear adapter. Im happy with the 20mm field of view. The mist filter can be somewhat recreated in DaVinci resolve studio (Granted its extra work). The camera charges so fast, you can top it up as you go 5-10 minutes of charge on a PD power bank and you will never run out of battery. (I usually charge it when it goes bellow 50% (as the battery would charge faster when its bellow 80%) as you pointed out on the video. Im usually behind the camera shooting highlight videos that go over music anyway and I have other mics I can use if need be while I wait for the full release of the Mic 2 by DJI. Pair this camera with a stick like the insta 360 and you can get some amazing shots and perspectives even in low light!
Fair enough. Yes the Pocket 3 series is more expensive. I have a slightly bigger budget so have the combo version with wireless mic that pairs easily and has a fluffy windshield since it does a better job than having to use software to edit out wind noise. The battery handle enables all day recording without worrying about charge. And the tripod so that the camera stands upright securely. My bank account is crying but it's an investment as a content creator thats expected to last me the next 10 years. Plus you save money than buying all the accessories separately.
But will non combo version be able to connect to the single mic 2 wirelessly in the future? Without extra bulky attachments and dongles? I asked dji support and even they do not know and will answer me in 48 hours. I just do not understand why their own ecosystem does not work, this is so logical to expect from them. Even if we buy dji mic 2 full pack in the future, will it be able to connect to pocket 3 with single mic unit like in the combo? I suggest to ask support on their web and make a suggestion directly to dji. If non combo can't in the future connect to mic 2 seamless and wireless, this is the main reason to buy combo version in my opinion. I now use pocket 1 and this bulky setups with lots of attachments and dongles give me reason not to use it at all in most situations.

You have all reasons to buy basic combo! Because you have alternative for important ones. But for those who needs external mic and battery handle at least, creator combo is a great bargain.
So basically, buy the standard combo if you already have accessories that are compatible with the pocket 3. However if it is gonna be your first ever camera, it is much better to purchase the creative combo.
Yeah I agree, Its also great for those who are struggling with income but want to get this camera. I don't want to discourage someone for not being able to afford the better package. I couldn't afford the creator at the time. But Im sure I will get the mic on its own when its out . :)
i did the same with the 2 but the 3 uses the microphone as a remote control and local recording, and the ability to record from a wireless microphone without any attachment on the camera which are all pretty enticing features

I went with the basic combo as well. I always carry a power bank anyway in my daily kit, plus it charges relatively fast anyway. I already have the DJI wireless mic. I don't mind plugging in the receive to the pocket. The only thing I need which I will buy separately is the wide angler and ND filters. Overall, I'm impressed with the pocket.
I ordered the creator combo, because the extra battery, wide angle lens and mini tripod was important to me. And to buy them separately was gonna be more expensive. And I’m also getting a quality mic with it. But to be honest, I’m probably not gonna use much, but it’s nice to have. I do totally understand the budget thing tho, I’ve been there many times before. All that matters is that you’re happy with your purchase. 👍

Great points! I also got the basic for the exact reason you did. For someone who already has other cameras, chances are they already own a wireless mic system. I own the Rode wireless go 2 and I was already contemplating in buying DJI's, and then the Pocket 3 came out. It will make more sense to wait until DJI releases the Mic2 system instead of just buying the Pocket for its mic. I might end up buying the battery pack in the future but like you said, any battery pack will do and the fast charging capability it's a plus. I agree that DJI should have included that bracket accessory in the first place. I will wait for third parties to make one and spend less. Right now it isnt much out there, but in a few months, we will be inundated with a lot of third party options. I subbed!
I love the battery handle. I have a fast PD power bank, but i tend to use it to charge just the handle. Plug in the handle, it quickly refills tha camera battery, then charge the handle in my bag. Cant wait till they sell the mic 2 standalone as i love the fact it can connect the two mics, no cables, no receivers. I am finding that im filling the acreen when vlogging with the pocket 3, so today will try the wide angle attachment
I bought the Pocket stand alone also. I needed the mount too but it's sold out everywhere. So I'm going to mod my own mount like I do on my Hohem pro 4 gimbal using different go pro mount parts....
It's basically point by point as to why i did the same. Even down to me owning the Ulanzi Duel mic system. Im gonna but the extender as well, but i hope someone comes up with a version where the gopro feet fold flat, no need to thve those extended the whole time if your just using the cold shoe. If they add a second mic to the current system, i might entertain buying tthose separately

I was looking at the combo... but this changed my mind - sorry DJI :D I thought I needed the battery and the wide angle - but it lasts 2 hours already by itself - and I like the point you made about the probability of better wide angles lenses (and there are already awesome value filter packs on the market) so.. I agree with this videos message.

USB mic has one disadvantage. During filming with this mic camera cannot be charge. So during wandering and trying to vlog you must switch camera between mic and power bank.
In Japan the power bank would charge my phone, cameras, Ipad and so on. Having the Pocket 3 charging for 15 minutes and getting so much juice is crazy cool.
I got the Basic combo... and my tripod mounth grip thing fell and broke... lol now i need to wait until i can pick up the extended battery or find another tripod adapter thing.
I have the creator comb, got it yesterday and I haven’t done much recording yet, spent all day playing around with the setting and mic audio settings. I think getting the comb kit over the basic kit will save me money in the long run, pretty sure the cost of the mic and battery will be more than the extra money spent. I’m not sure if i can connect up a rode powered mic yet with a usb c to trs connection
Yeah I agree with you. Its best to get the creator combo for saving money in the long run. Unfortunately for me it was get the basic now and start using it or not be able to get at all, and wait until much later. I wanted it now LOL. Hope they come out with the Mics soon. If you have bought creator combo then will not connect to mac because there isn't any external receiver but you can record in mic 2 separately because it have like 3 or 4 gigs of storage, not sure the exact one and then u can drop it and edit.
I'm pretty sure that costco will eventually be selling a better combo which will be more worth it, but I agree with your points for someone who already has other accessories.
hi, i have the dji mic so i did not go for the creator combo, but one thing that anoyes me is that while recording the camera sometimes does not recognize the dji mic reciever! thers something wrong and now im kind of regretting not getting the combo :s hopefully dji fixes the issue. literaly i unplug the reciever and plug into the phone and it works so its not an issue with the mic
I've recently developed mixed feeling regarding the "Expansion Adapter". Good thing it's not available yet. haha Here's the problem: it can only position the Pocket 3 facing outwards. Thus the screen faces out as well. Maybe a bit inconvenient as I would like to monitor what I'm recording. I've used the 1/4'' to connect to my backpack strap and I position the Pocket 3 screen to face me and then just rotate the gimbal. Works well. Thinking, maybe I should purchase one of the square/rectangle ring looking adapters that attach to the bottom of the Pocket 3 I've seen popup on Amazon recently. This way I can switch the direction the camera faces. What are your thoughts? Thanks for video #nuclearfrank64
"On a budget" but still manages to squeeze as much (totally redundant for the purposes of this video) gear into the frame as physically possible! 😂 Not hating on you at all, by the way! I just found it amusing, that's all.. You make a couple of good points! I do feel that they should have just flared out the bottom of that tripod attachment, so it could also serve as a quick clamp attach point. It would make the fact that the tripod thread is separate, a little more understandable if it was a one-stop-shop multi mount type attachment.. Regarding the creator combo/buying mic separately thing.. To be honest with you, I am anticipating the final price of the mic to be pretty darn close to the price difference between the two combos.. Which is why I have ordered the creator combo. The pocket 3 can accept two mics simultaneously, so I will still end up buying another separate one anyway. But for now I absolutely feel that the creator combo is good value for money. Not perfect, but good value.

I’m surprise no one has modeled the expansion handle to be 3d printed yet. Give it some time and someone will make one you can print at home if you have a 3d printer
1-) expansion adapter not available for sale to this date (Nov 16) 2-) the additional battery allows you to continue shooting and charging the basic battery (not removable) instead of connecting your charger, maybe the real reason you went basic is because the creator combo is out of stock 😂 Not getting the combo is limiting on my opinion especially there is no 1000 USD difference between both
My current wireless mic sometimes stops recording randomly, so I think I’m going to get the creator kit because I also want the ND and Wide angle adapters. The expansion adapter is a must buy either way, and it’s disappointing that they don’t include it in the creator combo. How did you setup that cold show photo POV Falcam setup? Very interesting

I just tested it and i couldn't charge it while it was 95% full. So i let it drain and tested it at 75% and it worked. So i learned something new. Cheers!
I've been thinking of getting the basic pack for the same reasons. I might also get the battery handle, I wonder if using this (as it powers it first to my understanding) will help extend the cycle life of the internal battery?
You lost me a little when you said you're planning to buy the DJI Mic 2, which is bound to cost around $200 even for the single transmitter version (assuming there is one and based on the pre-discounted price of the original DJI Mic). The Pocket 3 Creator Combo effectively comes with that (since the receiver is built in), a $30 wide angle filter, a battery bank that also serves the purpose of the dumb extension and a case I could take or leave. All of that is going to cost around $300, albeit you probably already have plenty of battery banks. Everyone has different priorities, of course, but I have a Ronin 4D and a mirrorless Nikon both with all kinds of attachments, so the last thing I wanted was to have accessories hanging off my minimalist option when a streamlined option exists.
Yeah your right, I currently have no idea what the price of the Mic 2 alone or in a set will be. For now I dont have the funds for the creator combo, but I really want the camera to begin using it. It will be easy on my budget to get the basic package now and a Mic 2 in a few months. I highly recommend the creator combo for those who have the funds, absolutely it's awesome. :)

LOL Fortunately not yet. Rumor has it that the Mic 2 are around the corner. For the time being I'm using the MicOnes. With the extra bit i saved I bought the 10-18mm RFS Canon lens. I wish I had the money to buy it, this Pocket3 release caught me by surprise. And for that I spent my lat bit of extra cash on the R50. Are you enjoying your? I do NOT like the combo but I got it. GOOD: DJI Mic 2 is wonderful, Battery Handle is OK. BAD: The Tripod is high quality but it's HUGE. The Tripod mount is HUGE. WTF>? I'd rather that they integrate it into the Pocket 3 main body and make it a bit longer. The Pocket 3 plus the Tripod Adaptor plus the tripod basically DOUBLES the length of the Pocket 3. Really badly designed. The wide angle lens cannot stay on while switched off. It will be exposed and is easy to lose. I am going to 3D print a shorter adaptor for tripod mount.

That camera has NO ZOOM .. therefore, the mic is useless

So basically, buy the standard combo if you already have accessories that are compatible with the pocket 3. However if it is gonna be your first ever camera, it is much better to purchase the creative combo.
Yeah I agree, Its also great for those who are struggling with income but want to get this camera. I don't want to discourage someone for not being able to afford the better package. I couldn't afford the creator at the time. But Im sure I will get the mic on its own when its out . :)

i did the same with the 2 but the 3 uses the microphone as a remote control and local recording, and the ability to record from a wireless microphone without any attachment on the camera which are all pretty enticing features

I went with the basic combo as well. I always carry a power bank anyway in my daily kit, plus it charges relatively fast anyway. I already have the DJI wireless mic. I don't mind plugging in the receive to the pocket. The only thing I need which I will buy separately is the wide angler and ND filters. Overall, I'm impressed with the pocket.
Newbie question. If I buy the basic can I add the additional stuff (like mic, battery grip, tripod, wide lens) later?
Yeah I'm certain of it. I added a Mic temporarily and it worked fine. I also tried out the lens and that worked as well. So I would say yes.

I ordered the creator combo, because the extra battery, wide angle lens and mini tripod was important to me. And to buy them separately was gonna be more expensive. And I’m also getting a quality mic with it. But to be honest, I’m probably not gonna use much, but it’s nice to have. I do totally understand the budget thing tho, I’ve been there many times before. All that matters is that you’re happy with your purchase. 👍

Great points! I also got the basic for the exact reason you did. For someone who already has other cameras, chances are they already own a wireless mic system. I own the Rode wireless go 2 and I was already contemplating in buying DJI's, and then the Pocket 3 came out. It will make more sense to wait until DJI releases the Mic2 system instead of just buying the Pocket for its mic. I might end up buying the battery pack in the future but like you said, any battery pack will do and the fast charging capability it's a plus. I agree that DJI should have included that bracket accessory in the first place. I will wait for third parties to make one and spend less. Right now it isnt much out there, but in a few months, we will be inundated with a lot of third party options. I subbed!

I love the battery handle. I have a fast PD power bank, but i tend to use it to charge just the handle. Plug in the handle, it quickly refills tha camera battery, then charge the handle in my bag. Cant wait till they sell the mic 2 standalone as i love the fact it can connect the two mics, no cables, no receivers. I am finding that im filling the acreen when vlogging with the pocket 3, so today will try the wide angle attachment
I bought the Pocket stand alone also. I needed the mount too but it's sold out everywhere. So I'm going to mod my own mount like I do on my Hohem pro 4 gimbal using different go pro mount parts....

It's basically point by point as to why i did the same. Even down to me owning the Ulanzi Duel mic system. Im gonna but the extender as well, but i hope someone comes up with a version where the gopro feet fold flat, no need to thve those extended the whole time if your just using the cold shoe. If they add a second mic to the current system, i might entertain buying tthose separately

I was looking at the combo... but this changed my mind - sorry DJI :D I thought I needed the battery and the wide angle - but it lasts 2 hours already by itself - and I like the point you made about the probability of better wide angles lenses (and there are already awesome value filter packs on the market) so.. I agree with this videos message.

USB mic has one disadvantage. During filming with this mic camera cannot be charge. So during wandering and trying to vlog you must switch camera between mic and power bank.

In Japan the power bank would charge my phone, cameras, Ipad and so on. Having the Pocket 3 charging for 15 minutes and getting so much juice is crazy cool.

I got the Basic combo... and my tripod mounth grip thing fell and broke... lol now i need to wait until i can pick up the extended battery or find another tripod adapter thing.
I have the creator comb, got it yesterday and I haven’t done much recording yet, spent all day playing around with the setting and mic audio settings.
I think getting the comb kit over the basic kit will save me money in the long run, pretty sure the cost of the mic and battery will be more than the extra money spent.

If you have bought creator combo then will not connect to mac because there isn't any external receiver but you can record in mic 2 separately because it have like 3 or 4 gigs of storage, not sure the exact one and then u can drop it and edit.

hi, i have the dji mic so i did not go for the creator combo, but one thing that anoyes me is that while recording the camera sometimes does not recognize the dji mic reciever! thers something wrong and now im kind of regretting not getting the combo :s hopefully dji fixes the issue. literaly i unplug the reciever and plug into the phone and it works so its not an issue with the mic

I've recently developed mixed feeling regarding the "Expansion Adapter". Good thing it's not available yet. haha
Here's the problem: it can only position the Pocket 3 facing outwards. Thus the screen faces out as well. Maybe a bit inconvenient as I would like to monitor what I'm recording. I've used the 1/4'' to connect to my backpack strap and I position the Pocket 3 screen to face me and then just rotate the gimbal. Works well. Thinking, maybe I should purchase one of the square/rectangle ring looking adapters that attach to the bottom of the Pocket 3 I've seen popup on Amazon recently. This way I can switch the direction the camera faces.

You make a couple of good points! I do feel that they should have just flared out the bottom of that tripod attachment, so it could also serve as a quick clamp attach point. It would make the fact that the tripod thread is separate, a little more understandable if it was a one-stop-shop multi mount type attachment..
Regarding the creator combo/buying mic separately thing.. To be honest with you, I am anticipating the final price of the mic to be pretty darn close to the price difference between the two combos.. Which is why I have ordered the creator combo. The pocket 3 can accept two mics simultaneously, so I will still end up buying another separate one anyway. But for now I absolutely feel that the creator combo is good value for money. Not perfect, but good value.

1-) expansion adapter not available for sale to this date (Nov 16) 2-) the additional battery allows you to continue shooting and charging the basic battery (not removable) instead of connecting your charger, maybe the real reason you went basic is because the creator combo is out of stock 😂

My current wireless mic sometimes stops recording randomly, so I think I’m going to get the creator kit because I also want the ND and Wide angle adapters.

Yes they work. But the receiver needs to be plugged in. The Mic2s can connect directly to the Pocket without attaching a receiver.

I just tested it and i couldn't charge it while it was 95% full. So i let it drain and tested it at 75% and it worked. So i learned something new. Cheers!

I've been thinking of getting the basic pack for the same reasons. I might also get the battery handle, I wonder if using this (as it powers it first to my understanding) will help extend the cycle life of the internal battery?
You lost me a little when you said you're planning to buy the DJI Mic 2, which is bound to cost around $200 even for the single transmitter version (assuming there is one and based on the pre-discounted price of the original DJI Mic). The Pocket 3 Creator Combo effectively comes with that (since the receiver is built in), a $30 wide angle filter, a battery bank that also serves the purpose of the dumb extension and a case I could take or leave. All of that is going to cost around $300, albeit you probably already have plenty of battery banks. Everyone has different priorities, of course, but I have a Ronin 4D and a mirrorless Nikon both with all kinds of attachments, so the last thing I wanted was to have accessories hanging off my minimalist option when a streamlined option exists.
Yeah your right, I currently have no idea what the price of the Mic 2 alone or in a set will be. For now I dont have the funds for the creator combo, but I really want the camera to begin using it. It will be easy on my budget to get the basic package now and a Mic 2 in a few months. I highly recommend the creator combo for those who have the funds, absolutely it's awesome. :)

LOL Fortunately not yet. Rumor has it that the Mic 2 are around the corner. For the time being I'm using the MicOnes. With the extra bit i saved I bought the 10-18mm RFS Canon lens. I wish I had the money to buy it, this Pocket3 release caught me by surprise. And for that I spent my lat bit of extra cash on the R50. Are you enjoying your? I do NOT like the combo but I got it. GOOD: DJI Mic 2 is wonderful, Battery Handle is OK. BAD: The Tripod is high quality but it's HUGE. The Tripod mount is HUGE. WTF>? I'd rather that they integrate it into the Pocket 3 main body and make it a bit longer. The Pocket 3 plus the Tripod Adaptor plus the tripod basically DOUBLES the length of the Pocket 3. Really badly designed. The wide angle lens cannot stay on while switched off. It will be exposed and is easy to lose. I am going to 3D print a shorter adaptor for tripod mount.
