Zeus is actually more powerful than kratos in strength, you forget one thing, kratos used strategy in weaken zeus before God of war 3, by stabbing zeus with the blade of olympus zeus become so weak that kratos could match strenght with him, you can confirm this by just watching their fight in gow 2 and by listen to what he told gaia
Fun fact in the original material from which the game Kratos was pulled from Kratos was the God of Strength in the Greek pantheon.
Zeus was actually resistant to his power and became even more stronger by God of war three, even the Brady guides said this. It just all came down to weapon mastery and conceptual power, which is a lot stronger than anything the Norse has.
Even the weapons as well are already broken by Norse standards but in Greek, even champions can wield them like mjolnir.

Had Thor killed a bloodlusted Kratos, that would've been an impressive feat, but he didn't. In the second fight, Thor lost to Kratos fairly easily even though Thor was going all out while Kratos was STILL holding back.

Sorry, but Kratos is NEVER going all out in new gen games, as stated by devs. Zeus, if not weakened in GoW 2, leading up to the climax of 3, would have obliterated Kratos in that final fight, even with Kratos trying his hardest. Let's be real, if Kratos lost control, he would solo Asgard in a day.
Probably around two to three hours at the shortest, longest would be around twenty some plus hours?

Zeus would absolutely dogwalk Thor, and he wouldn't need to give it his all to do it. As for Kratos, we have developer statements confirming he is holding back *at all times* in GoW and GoW: Ragnarok. In *every* fight. Yes, including the one where he handed Thor his ass.

You should really provide *feats.* Idle chatter doesn't prove anything except the lack of evidence you're willing to show. The top comment states Zeus survived being stabbed MULTIPLE times by the Blade of Olympus, presumably the strongest weapon in GoW because ANOTHER comment mentions Freya admitting that the Greek pantheon was far more gifted with magic.
Said developer statements literally confirm that Odin is the biggest threat in the entire franchise and that Kratos’s spartan skills will be tested like never before. Thor is stated in Kratos’s codex that his attacks is more heavy and powerful than he’s ever felt. Thor dog walks Zeus. Cory Barlog confirmed that Old Kratos beats Young Kratos
@@liammcguire1954 Yeah, no. They outright said Odin wasn't as powerful as Zeus. You're right about the codex and Cory Barlog saying old Kratos is more powerful than young Kratos, however. That being said, there's a difference between having heavy blows and being the most powerful. Thor has a ton of brute strength. Zeus had literal cosmic power at his disposal on top of being every bit as physically strong as old Kratos is now.

If you look at it, another way to compare the strengths between the Norse gods and the Greek gods is in how they die, and I don't mean them just dying to Kratos. But most if not all of the Greek gods cause a devastating catastrophe that shifts the order of the natural realm they govern, such as the souls of the dead not being bound to Hades once Hades dies, to Poseidon causing an enormous flood. We could even say that Thanatos the god of death's catastrophe was Kratos' wrath against the gods, eloquently put by Zeus calling him "Death, the destroyer of worlds".
Yet when a Norse god dies, they just...die. No explosions that shift in the natural order, no huge catastrophes, no huge explosion. They just fall over and die, like any mortal would.
So if the Greek gods can hold that level of power to cause that much devastation when they die, then comparing the Norse gods to the Greek would be like comparing A bag of grapes to an entire vineyard. We're using the same fruit, but on a very different scale.
Well it’s because the greek gods created their realm/universe. When they die their work is undone. Asgardians are olympians are fundamentally two different types of deities

After killing Ymir, they used his body to sculpt the whole world, using every part to create the 9 realms. yet when the gods died, their work still remained. Then again, it wasn't their power per se, more so them just building the world with what they were given.
on a side note, these norse gods are really just some dieties as you said, and not true gods that govern something of fundamental nature.
Baldurs death brought thimble winter. He didn't just die. In norse mythology, it states that when Baldur died, the Animals wept, the trees wept, the stones of the earth wept. Even fire and iron wept.

In the God of war Series his death did not bring fimble winter. It was the prophecy or Ragnarok that did. It was basically a random event caused by fate.
Thor isn't even in the same realm of power as someone like Zeus maybe Ares or Poseidon but that's is as far as he can go in the Greek world.
Ares would just step on him, thats very clear from his GoW 1 + Novel feats and depiction.
He is not close to POSEIDON either...Poseidon is a elder god much like Zeus and Hades...he would mash Thor

Zeus stomps even if we go by their actual version in the myths. Olympians are immortal while Asgardians aren't. Zeus will just have to fight Thor for a few thousands years until Thor dies of old age lmao. I love both characters in these games tho.
That is Marvel versions, not real mythology. The nordic gods live forever as well until Ragnarök.
@@hurmur9528 Nordic gods were never immortal. They ate apples of Idunn that extended their life spans far beyond normal. They just live for a really long time (they do got a bit longer than a few thousand years). But, Idunn is fated to die during Ragnarok. Meaning the ones that do survive will be completely mortal.
If we are going to use myths, Thor’s mother, Jord, is the giant goddess of the Earth. She would be Gaia to the Greeks. So Thor would be Zeus’s uncle, due to Thor being brothers with Chronos. Do with that knowledge what you like.

As much as the marvel fans would love to say thor, reality is Zeus would win. God of gods is a title even us humans sometimes boast of our god though it’s a bit hypocritical. Zeus commanded the primordials beings who created everything, destroyed the titans. As Greek mythology goes with each offspring the power goes up, clearly that isn’t the same in Norse since Odin is superior to thor. And thors children aren’t shit, whereas kratos at magni and modis age WHILE BEING A MORTAL, was feared through the lands. Zeus commanded being who created existence while Odin was fiddling around with a mask to find out what will happen. Besides as mimir himself said, the powers of a Norse god is far lesser than that of the Greeks as time manipulation knocked his imaginary legs off.
They followed his command out of respect as they thought that's how it should be.Nyx and Erebus are untouchable to they point people didn't even make up lots of stories about them cause the stories would suck with such unrelatable entities.
If you actually read the greek myths, each generation is weaker, not stronger. the greek gods usurped the titans via treachery. the titans were weaker than the primordials. The next generation after the greek gods was man, who was destined to overthrow the gods. To postpone that, zeus did some fuckery and placed curses upon the newborn race to weaken them and make them struggle more to achieve their destiny. All of greek myth is a slow degredation from the original powers, with each one being overthrown not by stronger, but more cunning creatures. Prometheus was punished cause fire was the first step towards usurping the gods.

This is definitely not a close fight. Zeus was by far the most powerful enemy Kratos has ever faced. He had every weapon, power, and ability to face Zeus. He stabbed him multiple times, used allies, had the greatest power in the entire series (Hope) and it was still a pretty close call. Zeus was a menace and I'm sure Kratos would not want a runback with him EVER
Fear was also a massive intellectual handicap, without which Zeus and his universe ruling pantheon would have dealt with Kratos and Gaia very quickly.
Kratos is arguably "weaker" than he used to be, to clarify he's not actually weaker if anything he's only gotten stronger as time went on, but he lacks that blood boiling rage he used to have
Old Kratos if killed would just punch his way out of Tartarus and keep fighting
New Kratos if killed just accepts his time has come, that's why Thor has to force you to come back to life to keep fighting in case you die to him
So while Kratos is technically stronger, the fact he's not really there mentally means he is way less dangerous than he used to be
Yeah, much mature Kratos in new games. Kratos uses war techniques of Spartans and strength of God. Brute strength gods can one shot him, but Kratos wont allow that to happen. He is a warrior and general first.
Let’s end this debate once and for for all yea? Odin never created the 9 realms it’s was Ymir’s blood and dead body. Odin is weaker than Ymir, needed his brothers. Primordial in the Greek area created the universe and possibly the multiverse (would have to go back and look) by punching each other. The titans beat the primordials and the Greek gods beat the titans, kratos killed a whole primordial himself( primordial of death) thor can punch something into the past isn’t a feat that comes close to the Greek side. Thor using all his power to shake the world tree while when zues is angry can shake a whole infinite sized dimension he’s not even in. Thor isn’t even the strongest person kratos fought, just had some of the heaviest punches he’s felt, that all. I think it's debatable on Thor killing Kratos Because it looked like he was knocked out rather than killed. Not only that, when you've been hit by The hammer, you're not left in one piece. He was dead. The death screen overlay even began to come in before Thor said "hell nah you aint allowed to die yet!" and defibrillated him with the lightning from Mjolnir.

Zues looks down on infinite sized realms from Olympus. The Greeks gods theoretically have the power to exit their own universe, they just stay in the one they’re in, but since it’s not directly shown, we won’t 100% give it to them. The only reason kratos beat zues was bc of the power of hope and weakening zues with the sword of Olympus. If not for these, zues would’ve dog walked kratos in no time. Greeks magic is greater also. Thor doesn’t even measure up to the big three. But is definitely can go toe to toe with one of the more stronger gods like ares Athena and Apollo

In actual norse mythology thor is the strongest being to ever exist, the second place goes to vidarr odinsonn, thors little brother and odins secondborn. Vidarr is not mentioned a lot but he is the god who kills fenrir during ragnarok after fenrir killed odin, vidarr is the silent god of vengance and my favorite god

Odin is more powerful in magic than Thor and also much smarter and wiser while also having the gift of sight. it wouldn't be surprising for him to be more powerful than Thor overall.
Thor isn't so much a god as he is a very powerful being whose power is enhanced by mjolnir. His power to manipulate lightning is his only godly trait.
He is dumb, easily manipulated, emotionally unstable, submissive, driven to drink at the alightest of verbal abuses, he is also broken, probably Odin's doing. He is a step or two above baldur in terms of cranial capacity. He is a blunt tool.
Zeus, on the other hand, more befots the description of a god in GoW universe. TBH, even Odin probably won't last more than a few minutes against Zeus.
In the greek saga, Zeus outsmarted, out muscled and outmatched Kratos, and wven killed him a time or two... None of the norse "gods" are even much of a threat... actually, the valkaries were probably the closest beings to be considered as a legitimate threat ro Kratos, and they're not even considered gods.

The only Titans who Zeus shot down at the great war was Cronos and Atlas. The other where in a limbo at time because Kratos took them to the future, so for those titans the great war event just jumped to gow 3 begining

It's one of the themes in the entire two games of this soft reboot... not repeating past sins. Kratos starts to get a little angry and snaps Balder's neck instantly; Kratos gets a little angry and immediately puts Thor in his place. The Norse gods are not the threat in this game... Kratos degenerating back to who he was is the threat.

One small detail I wanted to point out. Yeah, Thor killed all the Giants, but you called the Giants warriors when they definitely weren't. It's even stated in the game a few times that they weren't a warrior race. They were arcticians, curators and a people of peace. But warriors, they were not. Which is why they went into hiding in the first place and fought to survive rather than stay, fight, and be killed off entirely.

At around 9:30-9:45 minutes in? I had half a mind to do some in depth research on the "Titans" and "Primordials" to make a TTRPG setting that brought them back as the Big Deities, with the "Gods" still young and not quite in power, if most of them even existed at all yet. (Or alternate world where some of the Titans escaped or already lived in that the Gods never touched, allowing them to do whatever there.)... Could be a fun idea.
One idea was that Gaia (the Planet herself, by whatever name you want to give her) was ONE of the top tier Titans, and she had to hold herself BACK so she didn't accidentally obliterate all life on her surface, and only one or two other Titans (Maybe other Planets themselves) were stronger or equal. Just ideas mostly. I mean if the planet exists, and has so many interpretations as a Titan or a Goddess, it would make sense that she would not go all out if she truly cared about the live living on her surface... Or maybe if destroyed would explain why the planet had only so long to live (Even if it was billions of years before burning out?). Wild ideas and lore that I think could totally be worked on by someone more organized and well-researched than I am, perhaps?

Let's be realistic, Thor is at the level of Ares' strength or a little weaker than him if Ares was in his giant form and because of Ares' experience and his many abilities and spells because he is the embodiment of war before Kratos and also Ares is the one who made Kratos strong and he is the one who gave him the Blades of Chaos.
Thor is not a match for Zeus or even close to his power because due to the intensity of Zeus' power Kratos needed powerful weapons and every weapon rivals or equals the power of Mjolnir itself such as the claws of Hades and others. Also gods don’t get stronger just by working out or whatever, because they can’t boost their strength like mortals do. They would be born with whatever power level they had. For example, Zeus in the game was a child and couldn’t defeat his father since he an infant and when he grew up, he now capable of defeating his father. Gaia didn’t trained him or anything but just watch over him until he reached adulthood. Zeus was already born with a high level of power that’s meant for him to have a higher status.

The thing is, Thor was using his full strength when fighting Kratos while Kratos is holding back trying to be a better person. If we had the OG Kratos where he was full of rage and demon time the fight between him and thor would’ve been over in the first game. The only time you see the OG Kratos is when his son is in danger and unleashes the rage he holds and bottles up.
I see it that way: Thor and Kratos are clearly meant to be equals in Ragnarok, so, if Kratos gave hell to Zeus everytime they fought, so would Thor... of course, different fighters, different set of abilities, but both still pretty much in the same level (Kratos and Thor), I still think that Zeus is stronger, even without the blade of olympus, but it's like to put the heavyweight champion against the light heavyweight champion, the heavyweight has the advantage, but still very VERY competitive...

What people don't understand is that the Nordic gods were mortals.
They just had advanced knowledge, enhanced and enchanted equipment that allowed them to do god-like things.

Developer statements:
Thor hit Kratos harder than Kratos had been hit before, that doesn’t mean Thor is stronger than any of the other gods, it just means they didn’t use their physical strength on Kratos, and preferred their magical abilities.
Baldur was stated by Kratos to be his most toughest foe ever ( during the events of the 2018 game), but that wasn’t about strength or combat. It was about Baldur’s invulnerability.
Kratos had never encountered someone who could get hit like that and keep getting up without a scratch on him.
You’ll notice that in all their fights, Kratos and Baldur are tossing each other around like ragdolls. But when Baldur begins to choke Freya, Kratos stops holding back as much and locks his arm around Baldur with minimal effort. Baldur couldn’t break free at all.
Kratos has always held back, even if subconsciously.
The Norse gods were FIGHTERS, BRAWLERS, and so they would fight and brawl better than any God he had encountered before, but that does not mean they are the most powerful.
