Can’t agree more! I remember having an issues with BM when they first came out. I was a teenager back then. I think it’s arrogant to only sell one size for girls and creating body anxiety. Interestingly, I seem to be numbed by this now, because despite everyone has been talking about fashion inclusivity, sustainability and how bad fast fashion is to the planet, it hasn’t change that much since then. Tbh, I think the situation is even worst on all those three topics.

The reason why this story is so repetitive (per a lot of comments posted) is because we don’t demand with our dollar for better quality, sustainable garments. The fashion industry as a whole is “fast” - even the top luxury brands move trendy items out. It’s a business built on capitalism, not sustainability.

This! Yes they did! I was obsessed with AA as a teen because they were the IT store for ~hipsters~ and I had a colostomy bag that I wanted to hide, so their skirts and dresses were perfect for that purpose. This is such a weird topic and tone for this discussion like...Brandy Melville is not the first to be size exclusive and push a body image "ideal" within their brand. They are not special for being part of fast fashion or for taking advantage of employees. Out of every exploitative brand I just feel like it's weird to focus on Brandy as some evil cult company when you have Shein, Temu, old Abercrombie, and hosts of other brands doing the same thing.

The part of Brandy production in China is different, the one that is obviously less regulated but because it is China and they obviously resort to it to reduce prices otherwise. This is just a bizarre failed hit piece. There are all types of stores that target specific demographics of people. Imagine the horror when these people realize the were surrounded by stores that target people by age and race. If this offends you got to a place that doesn't. You'll find Wall Mart rather welcoming.

Brandy has always been super problematic especially in usa imo.. just like a&f, american apparel and hollister.. a&f used to be strongly against lgbtq community and fatphobic and in 2020-21 they changed their ceo. aa literally tried to sell thongs in the kids girls’ department so thank god theyre gone.. zara and h&m support genocide and are both fast fashion brands with also even worse clothes quality than brandy.. i gave up buying clothes from stores and brands and only buy second hand clothing from now bc it’s the only one i can afford and makes me feel like im helping in Some way at least
