To put it in basic terms, they don't end up together. Even if he loves her, his greed to be king is stronger. She's put in a position that causes her too much agony because she loves him but knowing the things he's done to her family tores her apart. So it ends with her killing herself at the battle field before her brother and li chengyin literally start a war. Li chengyin is devastated and her brother ends up taking her body. It ends with li chengyin being emperor but he never remarries and passes the throne to his relative instead, waiting until he dies and reincarnates into a life were he can meet xiaofeng again.
I watched this drama knowing it had a sad ending and I dont regret it...this drama has a special place in my heart cause the ending was just inevitable but ugh my heart goes out for both of them its a pity.
On another note, there are 4 special episodes thats still xiaofeng and chengyin but in modern time and it basically them living their new reincarnated lives. Its a nice little gift from the producers to fans because the drama ended so sadly. I'm still not over this drama tbh, it has forever shooketh me.

Another warning though there was a lot I didn't spoil for you but all I want to say is that li chengyin will do alot of cruel things that may force you to stop watching and I don't blame you. There are episodes that were painful to watch. Literally. This show is an emotional rollercoaster ride and if you're a crier be sure to have tissue prepared cause seriously some scenes really hurt. Other than that I wish you good luck with this series!!!! 😊❤

Her reactions about having a baby with LCY was shes still young and immature and the one mentioned earlier.

Those servants, Chengyin were only projecting their feelings about Xiaofeng having children when Xiaofeng did not want children herself. Xiaofeng was not a fool when the servants & Chengyin made the mistake about of her wanting children....she wasn't immature about it. She would have liked children herself enough to want one herself.....children are sensitive enough to know when they're unwanted & unloved by an indifferent parent. Forcing her wasn't solving it.
