These two are one of my favorite Chinese historic drama couple(Top 5). They got crazy chemistry together. I enjoyed watching them together going through a roller coaster ride of their life. She's so beautiful and he's strong and always trying to protect her. But the ending just so sad for me...I wish they will have another historic drama together with a HAPPY ending :D

This is exactly what I do and do the same with stand by me ,ashes of love and love and redemption ….they are excellent dramas but sooo much suffering so I just rewatch the happy romantic scenes and skipped the sad scenes makes me feel good 👍

i love this drama...it is understandable to have a sad ending because of what he did to her family,but you can see also how they love each other even they forgot their memories the attraction is always there but only if those around them did not hold the truth maybe there is still hope for our male lead and female lead.but then again its ok at da end he go back where they first meet like what the story about da fox and the shepherd girl, and now that he is old and done from the burden of being a king i can say that he is ready to meet her again in their second life.”at least he return to where they first meet”.

I have no doubt that Lo Chengyi loved Xiaofeng but one thing is to protect her and quite another is to know how to do it, he loved her very much and also protect her but he knew how to control everything and deceived her like Gu Xiaogu at that time I wondered if he thought of her when he killed his family and until now I have not found out.
@@littlefoxc.dramas6429 He did think about her when he killed her family. His original plan was to have her be taken away right after the wedding, so she wouldn't see anything. Unfortunately that didn't happen and she had to witness everything. I loved this drama because it was so realistic. Although Li Chengyi/Gu Xiawu loved Xiao Feng, he wanted to be Crown Prince above everything. I think he did feel remorseful later on, because he jumped into the river with her, not knowing whether or not they would both survive the fall. And I believe that shows he truly did love her, despite all the horrible things he did to her and her family.

Exactly. He deceived her through and through and never treated her right. He was just a selfish, control freak. As if taking away Xiaofeng would change anything. He killed her family nevertheless. If they hadn't known each other, at least maybe she couldve just accepted it as a war. But this person was her husband and family. And he was so selfish

god he should have just stayed as his alter ego and married her. I'd abandon my country for her any day she's literally what I wish all female leads were like, despite her being hella selfish in the beginning and only thinking of keeping her personal happiness rather than the peace.
I really loved him as a character too but he started turning into a possessive jerk and that ain't it sorry. I was getting flashbacks to Run Yu from Ashes of Love.

My favorite drama I can get enough of goodbye my princess I watch other dramas and he start off good and then they drag in between and I just can’t seem to finish it all the way through on these other dramas I have to like go to the ending to see what happens but this one I’ve seen like four or five times and I love it never get tired of it

Do not binge watch this drama. This is a romantic tragedy NOT a romance. You have to take breaks in between episodes to watch something uplifting because this show is sad all throughout the drama, not just at the end. This girl was brutality betrayed by both male leads within the first 8 episodes. This drama ain't no joke.

I read a lot of the comments and I won't be watching this drama no happy ending I can't 😩😩😩ok after I said I could not watch. I have been reading and seeing the clips and one person say it sad ending but worth the pain I decided to watch it. I have prepared myself for the pain
