    I like your clam shell set up, especially how you built the single burner stove into the table. It’s a cool idea because they tip over and that keeps it stable and user friendly. I like to make and modify gear too!

    I flew for Southern Air Transport back in the 80's. When everyone else was flying their 747's, 707's and our work horses, the C130's I was the lucky guy who flew SAT's DC-3. I flew it from South Fla to Central America and to Mena, Ar. Thunder storms, at night is what I hated. A cross wind landings in that thing was a handful. As always, love your great videos.

    Enjoy your videos and thanks for making them. We are almost exactly the same age. But we grew up in different worlds. I grew up in East Texas and I know about the damp cold. Always damp down here. A company I used to work for had salesmen from all over the US and they used to come from Chicago, Casper, WY, Pittsburg and spend a week down here just after Christmas. And I used to hear them talking about how "cold" it was when it was only 35 out and drizzling rain. They would go out and start their cars and go back in the hotel room and let the car warm up and then make a run for it. Oh well, I'm retired now and we are moving to Grand Junction, CO, the Lord willing. I've gotten a lot of good info watching your videos too. Gonna turn our cargo trailer into a camper too. I didn't like the early Beatles either. Thank god for the Stones. My musical tastes have changed over the years, but still love the Stones. Just keep the videos coming.

    I totally agree with you. I lived down south in Glendora. Went to high school with "The Surfaris" band. We formed a local band "The Outsiders", had the same manager, recorded a record, and the local radio station promised to play it "When this Beatles thing blows over". Wonder what ever happened to that record? Sold my guitar, bought a car, and I just retired from 50 years as a mechanic. I could've been a superstar. Never did like them either. Great stories though.

    Glad you 2 got out and got some fresh air ... beautiful area .... good tip on the Gortex boots .... I knew Mel Gore when I was in the ski business, we tested a lot of his product in development ... a real gentleman, smart guy, with a great idea of passing water vapor (sweat) thru fabric, yet liquid wont penetrate .... a good tip for cold feet, as I was a specialist in fitting ski boots for world class skiers ... and spent 10 hours a day in ski boots in sub zero weather .... the human foot while active secretes a few oz's of sweat per hour ... hard to evac that much sweat even with good quality wool or "smart" socks .... an old Austrian race coach taught me in my early 20's to bring at least one good quality "spare pair" in my boot bag every day .... a change at lunch into a fresh lofty pair of good socks made the difference between discomfort (and possible frostbite) and the pleasure of a fresh pair, and lets your compressed feet/skin breath and get some circulation for a few minutes ... it also paid off later in high altitude back country S&R where being on top of your game and equipment often meant more time out searching and perhaps saving a life .... it only takes a second, yet you'll always be the one smiling when others are stomping their feet trying to get the blood moving ... like when we dress in layers, too much moister build up is a killer when it comes to retaining precious body heat, layer let you adjust to changing temps and activity level .... I'm starting to sketch out a plan for my 8X12 conversion for spring ... and think I'm going to go with your propane stove rig to avoid moisture issues in a closed trailer .... I've used my Mr Heater Buddies before and got condensation .... just not worth it .... on a side note, Grizzly often sleep right thru short warm spells as it uses precious energy to wake and forage ... their bodies taking the Que more from the ground temps and not ambient air temps

    My dad had all 4 of us sit down on the floor to watch the Beatles on Ed Sullivan. He was tuned into the music scene pretty well. He loved the Doors. I liked the Beach Boys more than Elvis. By the time I hit 7th grade I was teaching myself how to play guitar. I learned Classical Gas, Love is Blue. Then once I got over being shy and started playing with the boys, I learned how to chord so I played Little Black Egg, Gloria and House of the Rising Sun. I still play and sing, usually daily. I like all kinds of bands and music. I do not do a lot of Beatles tunes...except Hey JUde. I remember playing that at my uncle's house once. I feel the same as you. I can't wait to get out and go camping. I'm wondering about running your heater all night and if it produces condensation on everything metal in your trailer. (door frames & windows)

    • @gonagain
      @gonagain  4 роки тому

      Hello Donald, because it's vented it doesn't produce moisture at all and is more like wood heat. We used to have a Mr. Heater Buddy, but on a rainy day it would rain condensation inside also. Like when using any stove inside (or just being inside a small space and needing to breathe) we leave a window open a crack to let air in. Also, at the front of the trailer, there is a 3 inch vent from the factory.

      @@gonagain My trailer is a 7 x 16 and it has three windows and a ceiling vent plus the standard small ones that come on the trailer. I use an electric heater and I'm surprised to see the extent of condensation that is produced. I wish I could find a solution to this problem!!!!

    • @gonagain
      @gonagain  4 роки тому +1

      @@donaldburton6869 oh I see! Ok, the reason my heater is working is because it actually circulates air. With an electric heater your own moisture from breathing stays inside with you and you're not bringing fresh air in. With a good, vented heater you'll warm up the inside to where water won't condense on the surfaces anymore. For a 7x16 you'll need one of the larger heaters from NuWay. I'm not affiliated with them in any way, I just like my stove.

Neck knives i have never carried or owned , well not yet ...Your small forest axe also caught my eye , tell me about that model 20" length by chance ? I have been looking at small forest axes for months now , there are some great models out there .. My choices for a sheath belt knife out in the wilderness runs a blade length of between 5" 1/4" to 6" at this point in time..With my favorite at 5"1/2" cutting edge with blade design that i like for all around use..
    Great video and trip out into the wild once more..

    • @gonagain

      We're really into blades but lean towards more common working ones and not expensive models. Linda's neck knife is an old "American Blade" brand that I think was made by Boker. The tomahawk I use has a pummel on one side, is made by Cold Steel and is of excellent quality. I think it's the "Trail Hawk". I also have a small Hudson Bay axe that's of a common, hardware store model (I can't remember the name). I found it in the woods and refinished it. A great knife, in my opinion, is anything made by Condor because they just work.
