    One thing I’ve always said is that Nintendo seems to hate fun unless they’re the ones making the fun. And this is referring to the section of the video talking about Nintendo hating their fans.

    • @tanakisoup
      @tanakisoup 22 дні тому

      Not just making it, Nintendo hates fun unless they’re profiting off it. Even if it does literally nothing to their financials, like, literally taking 0 dollars and 0 cents from them, potentially even benefiting them indirectly. Nintendo, if they can, will shut down any and all fun that they do not directly profit from. The best example being Smash tournaments. These things do not affect Nintendo at all. Hell, they even advertise their games. The tournaments are almost always run on licensed Nintendo hardware (the only exception being during the pandemic when they needed a 3rd party extension to play remotely), and everyone participating owns the game. And yet they shut it down because they aren’t getting paid for its existence

    The production of the video is good, but I’m so over this “Nintendo isn’t your friend” stuff I see people posting.
    Also, saying it’s Nintendos fault for Pokémon specifically is a bad example, as Pokémon ain’t made by Nintendo themselves. And it is hard for Nintendo to make everything backwards computable when they constantly change form factor.
    Nintendo not being my friend? Like duh. I wouldn’t consider any company a friend. Some make better products that I would rather buy and support.
    Comparing the switch to PS5 and Xbox S is just dumb. It came out closer to the middle of the PS4 and Xbox One. The gap was always there, but they never have gone for raw power, and even when they do their consoles fail. We are even seeing diminishing returns with the power house new consoles. Nothing is pushing them that much, and with a PS5 Pro coming, it’s going to be the most useless upgrade of all time. And bringing up the steam deck, a console that has released far after the switch, is an even worse comparison lol. At some point there will be a new system with more power, and while power is nice, it’s not always mandatory as shown by the other best selling systems being the weakest of their Gen.
    Not everything Nintendo does is solely because of greed. There are some great videos out there on why Nintendo is super strict about their IPs and rightfully so. I think peeps should just chill and not mess with their IPs but instead lean into the Pizza Tower and Anton Blast route of taking inspirations and innovations from said series. It leads to more creative people in the world, new series, new ideas. Not everyone agrees with that, and I understand, but that’s just me. Be passionate, but be creative. Plenty of people clearly have the talent, just don’t attach it to a Nintendo IP and you’d be good.
    I know some people would be calling me a Nintendrone or whatever name they calling fans nowadays, but I don’t care. Well made video all the same despite disagreeing with most of it and the tone.

      Spot on! Exactly what I was feeling. Feels like a doomer video especially with the "Nintendo is falling out of favor with the industry these days" like that's especially laughable when thousands of workers are being laid off in western game dev companies. At least Nintendo's platform is healthy and gets new good 1st party games consistently each year. Can't say the same for sony and microsoft.

    I can kinda understand Nintendo not really wanting to support communities, since they can become the worst part about a game/series, like in something like LOL.
    With tournaments, it seems like every time Nintendo dips their toes into supporting them, it seems backfires on them, like with the Splatoon champions being incredibly racist.
    And on the note of fans wanting to create their own thing, then they maybe should try to create their own thing instead of trying to piggyback of Nintendos franchises.

    • @LG555
      @LG555 3 місяці тому +1

      @@EmbersJournal for how positive it may sound, communities keeping games alive is not really something Nintendo has any reason to support.
      For instance, Nintendo couldn't care less, if no one played Smash Ultimate anymore, because if people are still ocupied playing it, they may not be inclined to buy a new game. And since Soras release was now nearly 3 years ago, the last way Smash made money, and everyone that would buy the DLC bought it already, Nintendo probably doesn't make that much money from Smash, to still keeping up support.

      the actual reason that I've seen in another video about this topic is Nintendo's fear of losing their company identity to the public. the word "Nintendo", the franchises like Mario and Zelda and everything they've done is supposed to keep it's official integrity. by letting Fans obscure the official games they risk losing their right to their own ip's because of it entering public domain which Nintendo wants to avoid at all costs. this means no mods, no tournaments and no emulators.

    You forgot to mention one the BEST new about Nintendo recently, they are actually HIRING alot of people and making new jobs compared to the rest of the industry laying off and firing whole development studios cause they failed to make the money spent on their hyper relaisyic graphics and powerful games. As some one who was actully in the Competitive Smash scene and helped run events, the World toir fiasco was mainly PG’s effup and not Nintendo’s. Also Imma be real, if the rumors about the Next console being more powerful is indeed true, then that’s actually a BAD thing for some of the more casual stuff you want to see but a GOOD thing for stuff like Star Fox, F-Zero, Waverace, ect since all those titles were used to showcase how powerful the console was and honestly I couldn’t stand the loadup times of the WiiU and 3DS. As for the fan games stuff, most of them are honestly trash and using the inspiration wrong, if you gave me the choice to play a rom hack of a Pokemon and Metroid game or one of then indie Monster hunting and and Metroidvania games then I’m chosing the latter all day cause they still deliver the message while being comepletly original too. Now NSO can preform better on the emulation I agree there but I actually the pay once a year is actually more consumer friendly then the VC and benefits more unkown hidden gems that you never see on these sites that swear they’re for Game Preservation. Like with VC you still had to pay around 5-10 even and even more for the games people really care about and that can honestly overall costing more than yearly releases plus some people won’t even try an old game they never played before if they have to put money on it, that’s why I say NSO is better in that regards. Now sorry if it seems I’m coming off as a “shill”, I’m actually very critical of Nintendo as I think only around half those WiiU ports were actually needed and again I agree with emulation thing for NSO, I just look at things from both angles and honestly some fans need to do better like speaking with their wallet and actually not buying games when they validly criticise them cause that’s why we still got full price ports, CoD era Pokemon and Coporate era Mario(everything NSMB styled). All that criticism looks very silly when it’s followed “record breaking sales”, thankfull we’re getting change inspite of huge success but like it could’ve happed sooner 😂😂😂

    • @EmbersJournal
      @EmbersJournal  3 місяці тому +1

      @@DDKoD absolutely agree with the whole hiring situation. Nintendo is absolutely better than Microsoft and Sony in the regard, it’s sad seeing so many layoffs. As far as power? I don’t need something more powerful than a ps5, but it would be very nice to have 60fps games, it’s been the standard for a while now. As long as they don’t literally need to start firing people to make up for the costs. And yeah indie games are always very enjoyable, he’ll probably one of my favorite games of all time is Hollow Knight, but mods and rom hacks can also breathe new life into a game you already enjoy. There’s a lot of mods that simply make the original game just better, I don’t really see any harm with it, and many games still have active communities thanks to modding. I appreciate you sharing your thoughts and I do now wish I would’ve included some of these things in the video as well. Thank you :)

    One thing in particular that I simply don't understand why Nintendo is so arrogantly avoiding that would be a pretty simple and straight forward implementation into their online environment is some kind of achievement system that's actually tied to your account and not just in-game.
    Xbox have done that shit for nearly a full decade and it's something that can add some extra lifespan and challenge to your games.
    Plus, it's just fun to see your score or trophy list increase.
    Now, I know that many people also don't care at all and some people even dislike it but honestly, if you don't care for it then it's just as easy as turning off notifications and you won't have to deal with it.
    But for the people that DOES care about it, it is a very weird omission this long into Nintendo's online life.
    And for some people who really care about this stuff, it can even be the deciding factor on whether they go for switch games or Xbox/PS5
    It's just silly not to have it

    You don't need "power" to have awesome games. They are "games", they just need to be nice and funny.
    I love Mario Odissey, Luigi's Mansion 3, Skyward Sword HD... Perfect games, for me.
    BOTW was not innovative at all, nor uniuque. It copied and pasted the worst of other games
    Poor Zelda game, poor open world game. People are praising a game that is really nothing new and nothing special, with various attractive things, but a poor game design.
    Nintendo can make awesome games when doesn't copy the worst of others, and there is no need for a "powerful console".

    • @DDKoD

      Honestly in hindsight, Nintendo not focusing on power after the GC flopped is why they’re not shutting down studios, letting people go or even having their exexutives coming out of their own pockets to avoid mass firings like Iwata did last decade. The only real downside to the shift to casual over power is that all the games that were made to demaotrate the power of the hardwere haven’t had any new entries sense

    you kinda forgot that Nintendo was already being hard back then in the NES era. since their rules was to the third party delevoper that they cant make the same game to different console or porting the same game. they also sued Game Genie.
    The N64 wasnt really the best era that nintendo was to offer. It has iconic games, but N64 got lack of third party support, not all of it but previous ones. Such as Square Enix and Konami. since when the PS1 had many of their library and third party support. same thing goes to gamecube a bit and wii u.
    those things arent really new. Nintendo got always their mistakes and strict rules before. i understand about the NSO critiscm, joy con drift and tourmanent thingy (it could be due to the stigma). the whole mod/hack situation, thats not only nintendo thing. even Valve since 2 years also took some mods down. so i think, even when nintendo is known to that. yeah it sucks that people made their modded game and it get down later. but its not always just Nintendo. and i could imagine if people say that Sega/Sonic Team is better, but honestly. No, The Sonic Team believes way much fans and they screw their games. Sure Fangames are there but they're not capable to develop their franchise into a game. i really disagree how people see that.
