have to admire your enthusiasm...." it's raining..and its cold...and now its snowing.......and now i have a flat tyre....with no tools to fix it, but look at these mountains !!.........WOOO HOOO !! "
Amazing video. I must salute your time and effort to make this film on biking through Wales, especially all those shots where you'd have to dismount the bike, place the camera, then ride/walk back to get it? Inspiring!
Excellently shot again, the awful few days in the beginning came good in the end, that's the beauty of cycling, & you demonstrate it so well!! Really enjoyed!
Another stunning video of yours. I can't believe how enthusiastic you are about carrying a heavy bike through the knee high mud in pouring rain! I would cry like a baby... Exceptional quality video, extremely positive and joyful. Very enjoyable. You make bikepacking look so easy... Stunning.
Haha, I love carrying my bike, you can't go for a good without a bike beside you, haha. Worst for walking with a bike would be Iceland or my tour of Eastern Scotland
Another brilliant little film; what an adventure! This is the second post of yours that I've seen and they're thoroughly entertaining, with just the right mix of everything. Looking forward to watching some more. Have you done a film about your choice of kit/equipment (including your bike)and why you made those choices? Hope you have, and that I find it. Happy Trails my friend!
At last a video with decent editing, not too much crappy music and absolutely loads of information if you are quick enough to see it. I backpacked in Norway years ago, 21 days with 18 of them raining. I know what it's like to cycle into cold, wet headwinds and top marks to Barry for keeping his smile. Visits to churches interesting but panning too quickly, slower pace needed for that. Brilliant bikepacking at BPW and elsewhere. I went bikepacking through the Spanish Pyrenees, it was called touring then. Some of my kit kept breaking, especially the rear seat mounted carrier (full sus) but like Barry, the pain of climbing was soon forgotten as I swept downhill in fantastic scenery. Do you have another video about choosing kit? haven't had time to look yet. This could be good publicity for Welsh Tourism, you've convinced me, thanks.
Oh Paul! Thank you so much for a wonderful comment Your adventures so amazing! You will like my new Lakes film and a lot slower pace in my editing and the trip. I am learning from every film I make and also from looking back from where I have come. In terms of Kit I created a series call BG tips where I take you through all the kit I choose and the pros and cons :-) please have a watch and let me know what you think!!!! Merry Christmas
Utterly brilliant! You've made me even more determined to take my wildcamping onto 2 wheels now. It's been on my bucket list for some time but this has jus swayed it for me. I cycled the opposite direction from Cardiff to Wirral for charity over 3 days (280 miles) but that was on road and fully supported so hat's off to you for doing it this way. TFS, ATB Andy
Great Video Barry and greeting from Canada! Hopefully, I can actually travel to the UK one day as I want to ride the GB Divide. But, until then guess I'll settle foe some of your video's! Haha.
Fair play. That is one epic ride! Not sure I could have kept my sense of humour in that rain and mud at the start. Bet you raised a few eyebrows riding bike park Wales with your bikepacking kit 🤔 Nice one 👍
Haha, yeah riding bike park wales was amazing, very funny if a bit scary. Used to riding it at max speed on a 160mm full sus, on rigid full loaded it was hilarious. Yeah there were low moments, but when you are there, there is not much you can do about it other than get through, of and course film it
Very fine vid, loved the tour, how on earth did you find your way through the totally obscure tracks? (they were oh so difficult!) the published date for you vid says the 26 Jan, but there were daffodils showing in the vid, they don't come out until end of March/April? not a problem, but I can't imagine anybody would bike through Wales as early as Jan/Feb? too much bad weather. anyway lovely vid, I wish you could publish the detail of your route? or even a marked OS map, it is so dramatic, you captured perfectly Wild Wales .
Hey Ceri! You will love Wales, and traveling North to South you see the landscape change. If you have a look at my BG tips series that will explain all the kit I take with me and why
Hi Barry, finally got around to watching some of your videos and I’ve got to say in the nicest way possible that your insane, but devoted. Loved what I’ve seen so far and I’ll try to keep up with your exploits. Keep up the good work, looking forward to whatever comes next. 5 stars!👍
Really enjoying your trips Barry. I haven't seen anything on your bike setup. If you have a chance can you let me know as Im considering bike packing either with a MTB or Gravel bike both I have.
Haha, It had to be done didn't it!!! Yeah that was such a great varied trip! Yes lots of to come, hard to plan at the moment so more going with the flow :-)
@@barrygodin7538 thanks Barry, i'll have a look for that. The tranacambrian qas auch a good 3 dayer, a tough old ride with some big long moutains to climb, if you use the kommot route there us an error coming out of llangruig on day 3 which takes you across some very upset farmers land , best avoided and use the road to save the bo##cking😅
Hi, this was the first week of April back in 2017, yes I used bits of cycle route and also the Sarn helen route, some obvious lakes not to walk though haha

It must have been quite an effort to film and produce this little video - I loved it and I'm grateful to you for your efforts! Thanks Barry!
Thank you very much Terry, yes it was a lot of effort and emotions were tough on this trip, but so wonderful to watch it back :-)
Stunningly beautiful, often funny, and lots of good music all along !
Thank you very much! The music is a friends band, was so nice to use them for this film.
Amazing video. I must salute your time and effort to make this film on biking through Wales, especially all those shots where you'd have to dismount the bike, place the camera, then ride/walk back to get it? Inspiring!

Great stuff Barry - enjoying get to know your videos as I work my way through them. Sure does create a thirst for adventure.
Thanks so much Paul!
8:30 nice to see you stopping in Tywyn, that's my hometown, people often leave Tywyn out
Love this mate - brutal mud to start with - the stunning vistas must have made it worth it - respect from a fellow packer :-)
Oh yes, a stunning view and landscape can totally change my mood and make it all feel worth the effort and suffering

Oof tallybont reservoir. Spent a few days there in my first year in the navy. Stunnin. Cracking video mate.

just found your channel great so far
Thanks very much
Just discovered your channel, Barry, some great stuff, love the work, keep it up.
Thanks so much Mathew!!!!
Great vlog, enjoyed your Scotland trip, you make this bikepacking lark look easy, I might have a try myself
You must!!! it is very fun and they thrill in packing up the bike and just peddling off can't be beaten!

Thank you so much Martin!
Fair play Dude. Incredible.
Haha, thanks very much. Yes some soggy moments in there
What camera do you use for filming and software for editing? What a great adventure!
Hey Martin, 80% is iPhone, and the other 20% go pro on the handlebars. I use FCPX to edit. Thanks for watching
Fantastic video's 👍
Thanks so much Ash!
Incredible, 10/10 for effort
Thankyou so much
Good video, can you tell us (or do a video) on your diet whilst traveling... & about the equipment / gear you use please?
Dave Holdman yes yes yes, top of the list :-)
@@barrygodin7538 looking forward to it 😉

Hi, Im by series BG TIPS I will be going into bags and set up soon
when did you go? In January it gets dark early, so must have been Autumn sort of time.
I went in March, yes not the longest days, summer gives you many more hours!
Thanks Barry great video. Wasn't it great pre Covid 😉
Thanks Ted, yes the world was a different place then, but the mountains have not changed, and I can't wait to be back in them soon
It must be said that your pronunciation of Welsh place names was fantastic. Gave me a good laugh
Haha, I did try my best. I will never know how far off I was. I am even worse in Scotland haha
You can’t be ha ha !
Barry. When you're up to your knees in bog - was that a marked trail on the OS map!!?
Yeah! It was even a bridleway :-/
BPW on a bp rig - lols - nutty as a fruit cake, but brilliant film, one of my faves. You still planning more? I hope so :)
Haha, It had to be done didn't it!!! Yeah that was such a great varied trip! Yes lots of to come, hard to plan at the moment so more going with the flow :-)
Hi Barry that is an epic adventure is it possible that you can share the route that you used please 💪🏻💪🏻
Hi, Thanks very much Rodrigo. The route mostly followed the Sara Helen trail and then the Taff trail in the south
Hi Barry, can you share your route please? Looks epic! Thanks :)
Hey, thank very much, sadly do not have a gpx for it, but followed the Sarn Helen route which you can find googling :-)
Brilliant vid. Loved this. Have you got a gpx file or Strava for this? I'm wanting to do this next year. 👍
Thanks so much Mark! No you would not want all my gpx file :-) but easy to find the trail online, search for the Sarn Helen route
Nice one Bazza gotta say your wheels get a hard time.
Haha, yes I do ride that bike like it is a downhill bike,
That bit which was 2 miles in 2 hours .. Was that the bridleway between Bala and Coed y Brenin?
Ahh no it was not, its a trail just coming into Penmachno from Betws-y-Coed, Defiantly don't recommend it, haha
Is your route up online, would be intrested in this after doing tranacambrian last weekend
Hi, it is not online, but follows mostly the Sarn Helen Route which you can download online. How was the Transcambrian? On my list to do
@@barrygodin7538 thanks Barry, i'll have a look for that. Wow thanks so much :-) what a compliment. Editing I just self taught ;-)
which month did you do this in? I'm going to attempt to do north to south wales in may. Did you use the national cycle routes?
Hi, this was the first week of April back in 2017, yes I used bits of cycle route and also the Sarn helen route, some obvious lakes not to walk though haha

Alex Morgan haha, never ;-)

Do you have the route saved on strava or anything? I’m planning on doing this ASAP!
Hi Agzy, sadly not. But it follows alot of the Sarn Helen route
BG at his best
Thanks so much David
Is this the cambian trail or your own route?
The Cambrian Trail goes East West in mid Wales.
Coppice1 hey, i was more following the Sarn Helen route and a mixture of my own :-)
@4:42......knees deep !
Oh yeah :-)
Hiya can I have a map and route on your journey please
Hi, Sadly I do not have it, but it follows Sarn Helen route which is pretty easy to find in a google, hope that helps
@7m30 - got your reward - at last!
Ahh that was such an amazing place to wake up, not the most comfortable night as was on a massive slope, but so worth it for that morning view
Nice vid, although the letterboxing black bars make it almost unwatchable. Next time pls lose them! :)
Hey, thanks for the comment! Recently im using a different ratio, so much smaller black bars :-)
