Title song of the 1977 album, co-written with Brian Eno.
Covered by Jeff earlier the same week for a fan request on his Starship Casual substack, in which he mentioned Wilco had rehearsed it for, but not played it at, the all-covers Solid Sound show in June 2013.
#Bowie
Nothing better than Jeff Tweedy in his lounging pants playing Bowie at home with his son. This absolutely rocks.
200 hours more where that came from :)
I never considered the influence that this song had on Handshake Drugs.
So good!
Still in awe that the Tweedy's gave us a seat in their house and made us feel so connected during the pandemic - thanks to them and to you Dave for posting
I've heard a lot of covers of this song, but I think this is my favorite. I would love to hear a Wilco recording of this.
Here's the next best thing: ua-cam.com/video/ytQjdn99eds/v-deo.html&ab_channel=sfjldj
hey spencer - ur dad is showing us what u can do. nice job.
Very nice cover
Thank you these videos are such sustenance right now.
Jeff Tweedy is a Hero.
Thanks dudes/ very cool
I am curious to know what key or timing that guitar is in, would love to learn this version he played. Thank you for sharing this.
Look at the start of the video for “In a Future Age” he explains it (I am not a guitar player) D-A-D
I think it is tuned to open D. (DADF#AD). Thanks DHandelman for all the great uploads.
@@mattz75 I'm playing his fingerings going, "This is NOT right."
Right tuning definitely makes it sound better. lol.
if you still want help i think its something like this in DADF#AD: riff between 000000 020000 then the second part of the riff is 5x0000 and then you walk up like 530000 540000, the prechorus is x32130 then back to the first part of the riff, then chorus is x02330 222100 back to first part riff, x32130 555500, then back to the verse riff and repeat
@@paulhuff9421 when I first saw this I thought it was spam! (Not a guitar player)
Anyone got any ideas on the tuning?
Question for Jeff. Does your son also play guitar? Or he does mostly drums and vocals. Either way you guys are a breath of fresh air in this pandemic. I'm a musician near Rockford and your family has the same mindset as mine. We love to jam together ❤️
Spencer has been a drummer for a long time, but you can see him playing guitar here - ua-cam.com/video/c6zWBEwATHo/v-deo.html
Dig it.
Wonderful. You can keep your autotune, I'll take genuine skill and talent any day!
Could someone help me with key? And chords? Seeing a lotta discrepancies when you check
I am not a musician, and when I checked his Substack solo version, he doesnt explain and nobody asked in the comments. But you might get a response there if you ask? Not sure if they get monitored way later. jefftweedy.substack.com/p/heroes-bowie-cover#details
I did just that. Maybe I'll get a response 🙏
@@ThePollmi01 he's probably playing over DADF#AD tuning.
