  • If your acrylic paintings are looking too rough when you try to blend, try this tool to keep everything smooth! This tool will help keep your acrylic paints wet longer so that you have time to blend like you would in oil paints! I'm showing you this tool in action to blend clouds in wet over dry vs drybrushing and again in a more advanced raccoon painting!

Why couldn't she shoot me the face with the fine mist one instead of the laser death beam one? NO ONE TOLD ME ABOUT THE FINE MIST!

I prefer oils……BUT, you also need ( for your health’s sake) good ventilation. Winter time makes it more difficult because you can’t crank open windows. Acrylics-winter, oils-summer.

It took a small bit of practice, but now my relationship with acrylic paint is vastly improved. I almost cried when I made the softest, puffy, fluffy, wispy clouds ever in my painting career! Lisa, I thank you for this and all you have taught me.

I'm happy to see a like-minded woman regarding husband discipline! I always say squirt bottles work great on kids, cats and husbands, lol.

  • @The1Disillusionist

    You're funny

  • @Orunk777

I understand you spray your husband but honestly the racoon did nothing to deserve it :C

I use Matte medium to make my acrylics look like oils. Thank you for mist tip.

  • @JaneofArc

I loved this, and you're so funny too. The spray bottle for disciplining your husband and playing the violin with a shoe as a technique crack me up. You and your husband must have a lot of laughs.

Do you go through a lot of those blush brushes? How do you prevent the acrylic form ruining the fluffiness? I’d imagine you can’t get the brush too wet because then it won’t be fluffy enough.

I decided to paint my notebook cover because I don't like it the way it is, and searched just for info for how much paint I'll need for that. And I found this video. Now I want to start painting with acrylics, buy a soft mist spray bottle, drink some red wine and play with my Cretan lyra (not with a shoe). No husband to correct though, and my dog is so sweet it never needs correcting (and I never would spray water towards an animal). No red wine in my home this moment. And it is midnight, so no lyra playing either, I'll let the neighbours sleep. So what can I do? Subscribe.

I have recently learned the fine mist water technique when painting northern lights, but I’m happy you’ve helped me to appreciate that it can be used in so many other acrylic applications. I started painting in my 60’s and turned 70 yesterday. Videos like yours are giving me more and more confidence to press forward. I’m enjoying it so much more now that I’m seeing some advancements with each painting. Never too old to learn more and more!!!

I've avoided acrylics for years simply because I've not been able to make them look like oils, which are my first love. But now... fine misting! Who knew?!?. I'm so glad you're video 'accidentally' popped up in my feed. I can't wait to try this.

Omg your husband's willingness to be on your videos and be sprayed with a water bottle is commendable, amazing and HILARIOUS!

I've used a fine mister for years. I love the one from chroma atilier. I realized I had stumbled onto something amazing when several people who "hate acrylics" due to the plastic look just gushed over my work and "loved my oils"...that were acrylics. I don't work with oil paint. I'm so glad to see someone sharing this with beginners!

Hahahahaha loved this! You’re husbands such a good sport. Thanks for the painting tips as well. Definitely going to give them a try, I totally lean to the smooth blending. I fear I often overblend🙈

This painting is amazing. You’re super talented. And you inject humor and have your husband help out. And you explain everything, and describe the brushes too 😭 Protect this woman at all cost.

Hi I have just found your wonderful, easy to follow video's with humour thrown in (God Bless your husband ! ) I am 74 and have just got back into painting with Acrylic after a long time ... ugh ... back to basics for me, lol, also have discovered Coloured Pencils and Adult Colouring Books, all of which is making me a lot happier 'home alone' along with my adopted greyhound 'Sunny'. So delighted to have found such in depth videos and I am enjoying your company as I start from scratch again. Thank you so much for the time and effort you put into these. Cheers from 'not so sunny' Australia at the moment ... winter just started :)
