Thanks for the video! I have a few questions… 1: How do I find the true value for the boat I’m wanting to purchase? 1985 Beneteau 42 RACU 9.3tons Hull ID. BEY02300C585 Perkins diesel engine 46 Hp 2: Where can I find insurance for a boat this size and its age? Boat is located in Panama City, Fl. I would like to leave the boat in Panama for a few months until I’m ready to move it to Mobile, Al. Any tips or pointers would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
@chrislett5093 finding a 'true value' for a boat like that is very difficult because there are vast differences in condition and so few are sold each year. So, the best bet is to look at JD Power Guides, Boat Trader/Yacht World listings and if you can find a broker to share, Sold Boats actual sales reports. Then, take a wholistic view and determine a value accordingly knowing the condition could swing the value wildly. I'd also highly encourage a Boat History Report. As for insurance, if you've owned a boat 32' or larger, you'll have a chance to get insurance. They will also want a survey to ensure the boat is in good running condition. It will also be very tough if you're buying as a life aboard vs. a full-time cruiser. The location will matter as well as older cruisers are very, very risky for insurance companies. You can check with our partners to see if there's a match boaterssecretweapon.com/pages/boat-insurance Hope that's valuable... even if not exactly what you want to hear.
I found a boat on dry land. Owner will not allow for water trial due to it not being insured. He said he can hook it up with water hose and run engine. Is that a possibility? How can I get this boat? Can I purchase insurance for it.
