I enjoyed your reactions, but you have just scratched the surface of understanding Dimash's capabilities. Dimash is the son of professional singers and, thus, was learning to sing while in his mother's womb. Indeed, a reviewer from India made a very insightful comment that he sounds like music is his first language, and I think that could very well be true. He then began singing lessons at age 5 and has now begun his Ph.D in music. His range is 6 octaves, and he an innovator who sings in many different voices, colors, and styles. Every song is different. He plays several instruments and has sung in 12 different languages. A lot of people recommend starting with songs he performed in a Chinese competition among professionals, which is when he first went viral in 2017. As the only non-Chinese singer, he was not allowed to win, but his first album went platinum there literally in just a few minutes. Still he is much more successful in Asia than in America, but he hopes to move to the USA soon to improve his English and truly achieve the worldwide acclaim that he deserves. @@verakvancouver2988 I guess it depends on your definition of original. for me if a singer debuts a song and releases it, its an original irrespective of who wrote the lyrics or composed the music. Idk if Screaming was sung by anyone else before Dimash or whether Thomas Parisch wrote it for him which would make it an original. and most people associate the song with the artist who sings it anyway. Like Olimpico we associate with Dimash as the original singer but know that its an Igor Krutoy composition.

But the author of the post differentiated songs composed by Dimash and for Dimash (which is right thing to do) and placed “Screaming” in a first category, that’s not the case. It’s not composed by Dimash (and I am not sure it was composed specifically for him, though I couldn’t find any other execution of it, so me too, I consider it “original” for Dimash)

It has become pretty normal to listen to Dimash switching many different tones and colours in a song masterfully. That is what differs him with others. But the best part is it’s done naturally. It feels right, it doesn’t sound forceful, strange or awkward, it becomes part of the whole story. Excellent job to everyone who made the arrangement too.

For those who like information about Dimas' songs: The story behind this song is very interesting: The band that accompanies Dimash is the same one that composed the song, without the singer who died after a heart attack! The band is also from Kazakhstan and this performance by Dimash revitalized the song. In addition, the final part he added, with an oriental technique. The song was originally performed in 1998 and the band's name is A'Studio (Russian-based Kazakhstani pop music group, "Alma-Ata Studio", city of Almaty). Just like Dimash changes his tone and technique within a song, he also is so varried in the music genres he does songs in. So my point is, almost every song you pick from him will be completely different and show something new you haven't seen. He has original songs but I almost feel it's too early for you to jump there. I kind of want you to see a progression. So, I suggest Adagio from the "Singer" competition which is in English. Or "Hello" from the "Singer" show also in English. Or do "Unforgettable Day" from the "Singer" which is in Kazakh and Chinese. "Unforgetable Day" is an original song....it's his song that he composed. At the end of the performance, you can see Billionaire Igor Krutoy, a famous Ukrainian and Russian music composer, performer, producer, and musical promoter, in the audience giving Dimash a standing ovation while all the other audience members were sitting on the derriere. This was the moment he decided to come out of retirement and compose masterpieces for Dimash to sing, such as I miss you, Ogni Pietra, Your Love, just to name a few. It must be very satisfying for him to sit down and compose music without constraints (limitations by ordinary singers). Most vocal coatches are saying that anyone can learn how to sing with practice and technique, you can learn to be a great singer with a very huge amount of hours. However, Dimash has an incredible talent and he is probably born with vocal cords that are more flexible than an average person. His performances is a combination of talent & technique. He couldn't have reached this level of perfection without hours of hard work assisted by voice professionals. But normal people can't expect to reach his level only with dedication and hard work.

No babies, it didn't take Dimash hours and hours of practice. Dimash began his music studies at the age of five and still does vocal training 3-5 hrs. a day every day. He now has his Ph.D. in music composition. I can see I am 2 yrs. late coming to this party, but I didn't see any of this info in the other comments. Hello, I’m from Russia! The story behind this song is very interesting: The band that accompanies Dimash is the same one that composed the song, without the singer who died after a heart attack! The band is also from Kazakhstan and this performance by Dimash revitalized the song. In addition, the final part he added, with an oriental technique. The song was originally performed in 1998 and the band's name is A'Studio (Russian-based Kazakhstani pop music group, "Alma-Ata Studio", city of Almaty). The dead singer left the band in 2000 and passed away in 2015 and his name was Batyrkhan Shukenov. I enjoyed your reactions, but you have just scratched the surface of understanding Dimash's capabilities. Dimash is the son of professional singers and, thus, was learning to sing while in his mother's womb. Indeed, a reviewer from India made a very insightful comment that he sounds like music is his first language, and I think that could very well be true. He then began singing lessons at age 5 and has now begun his Ph.D in music. His range is 6 octaves, and he an innovator who sings in many different voices, colors, and styles. Every song is different. He plays several instruments and has sung in 12 different languages. A lot of people recommend starting with songs he performed in a Chinese competition among professionals, which is when he first went viral in 2017. As the only non-Chinese singer, he was not allowed to win, but his first album went platinum there literally in just a few minutes. Still he is much more successful in Asia than in America, but he hopes to move to the USA soon to improve his English and truly achieve the worldwide acclaim that he deserves. @@verakvancouver2988 I guess it depends on your definition of original. for me if a singer debuts a song and releases it, its an original irrespective of who wrote the lyrics or composed the music. Idk if Screaming was sung by anyone else before Dimash or whether Thomas Parisch wrote it for him which would make it an original. and most people associate the song with the artist who sings it anyway. Like Olimpico we associate with Dimash as the original singer but know that its an Igor Krutoy composition.

But the author of the post differentiated songs composed by Dimash and for Dimash (which is right thing to do) and placed “Screaming” in a first category, that’s not the case. It has become pretty normal to listen to Dimash switching many different tones and colours in a song masterfully. That is what differs him with others. But the best part is it’s done naturally. It feels right, it doesn’t sound forceful, strange or awkward, it becomes part of the whole story. Excellent job to everyone who made the arrangement too.

For those who like information about Dimas' songs: The story behind this song is very interesting: The band that accompanies Dimash is the same one that composed the song, without the singer who died after a heart attack! The band is also from Kazakhstan and this performance by Dimash revitalized the song. In addition, the final part he added, with an oriental technique. The song was originally performed in 1998 and the band's name is A'Studio (Russian-based Kazakhstani pop music group, "Alma-Ata Studio", city of Almaty). The dead singer (to whom Dimash was a fan) left the band in 2000 and passed away in 2015 and his name was Batyrkhan Shukenov. The lyrics are by the poet Ilia Reznik together with Baigaly Serkebayev, who is the keyboardist with long hair, which we see in the video accompanying Dimash.

Just like Dimash changes his tone and technique within a song, he also is so varried in the music genres he does songs in. So my point is, almost every song you pick from him will be completely different and show something new you haven't seen. He has original songs but I almost feel it's too early for you to jump there. I kind of want you to see a progression. So, I suggest Adagio from the "Singer" competition which is in English. Or "Hello" from the "Singer" show also in English. Or do "Unforgettable Day" from the "Singer" which is in Kazakh and Chinese. "Unforgetable Day" is an original song....it's his song that he composed. Or do "Confessa / Diva Dance" from the "Singer" which is in Chinese and then Italian.

Most vocal coatches are saying that anyone can learn how to sing with practice and technique, you can learn to be a great singer with a very huge amount of hours. However, Dimash has an incredible talent and he is probably born with vocal cords that are more flexible than an average person. His performances is a combination of talent & technique. He couldn't have reached this level of perfection without hours of hard work assisted by voice professionals. But normal people can't expect to reach his level only with dedication and hard work.

No babies, it didn't take Dimash hours and hours of practice. Dimash began his music studies at the age of five and still does vocal training 3-5 hrs. a day every day. He now has his Ph.D. in music composition. I can see I am 2 yrs. late coming to this party, but I didn't see any of this info in the other comments. The man giving Dimash a standing ovation is Igor Krutoy. He is a retired Russian billionaire composer who came out of retirement after hearing Dimash sing to compose music just for Dimash.
