    Can you ground directly to the table? Or does the coating prevent that.

      Yes you can ground direct

    How thick is the actual material of the table? I know a complaint on some of the other brands is its so thin, the normal clamps don't work as well because they can't leverage against the thickness of the table like they are supposed to.

      3/8 top and 5/16 sides

      I wouldn’t worry about the clamps. I have a 2 x 3 Grizzly table I use for some small set up and other things when I’m not using my Siegmund. It’s just under 3/16” and standard 5/8” clamps work just fine. Don’t believe the people who tell you they won’t work with a table that’s thin. Yes, they do angle over more, but the swivels account for that and there’s no problem. There shouldn’t be a problem with this one either. Though be careful when clamping to the sides as 5/16”CI is brittle. Don’t over clamp. If you’re going to make your own clamps, make sure the 5/8” portion is actually 5/8”. If it’s a few thousandths less, it will also add to the angling.

      @@melgross I don't know if this table is made from the same but I have the very similar Langmuir table. It's made from ductile cast iron and probably won't crack easily but does dent rather easy being ductile iron. I'm curious in the Primeweld table being nitrided is more resistant to dents.

      @@1990notch nitriding makes it a bit harder, but not by much. The main advantages is rust resistance and that BB7 don’t stick as easily. Is this really ductile iron? That’s more expensive than the normal grey. Im not too concerned that someone might break the edges. But, you know, when you watch him at /fireball Tools, he’s like a kid. He always over tightens things when he dies tests, and possibly when he works. So if someone is ham handed and thinks that powering the clamp is good (it isn’t!), then just maybe they could crack it. A lot of people don’t uunderstand metal that well. If a tube is slightly curved, Kay it sideways on the table, bit with the curve up or down. It’s little things like that, that make it easier.

      @@melgross I just now looked at the Langmuir site, they state it's Nodular iron which I think is the same as ductile. It is rather soft though. I tightened down a build-pro clamp too much I guess, it left a slight indentation from the shoulder of the clamp base. I'm thrilled to have the table though. All things considered.

    Have you seen the new Fireball Dragon wagon? It looks a bit more heavy duty then this.

      @@OFFICIALUNDIt’s twice the weight and has dragon scale, and heavy duty adjustable legs with casters. Fireball actually has tooling available. Langmuir doesn’t sell any fixtures last time I checked.

      @@ToolCrime This video isn't about Langmuir, it's about Primeweld's table. I'm not even taking a position about which one is a better value, all I was pointing out was that pointing out that the Fireball is "built more heavy duty" without mentioning that it costs 170% as much as the Primeweld is like saying that a Ferrari is a faster car than a Toyota Camry without mentioning the fact that a Ferrari costs 7X (or whatever) as much.

    Nice review! Wish I'd had this option before getting a cheap folding welding table. The table is kind of small, but is priced accordingly. If it's flat and multiple tables can be connected, then you can 'grow' into the size table you need as you can afford it. Unfortunately the PrimeWeld specs don't include a measure of flatness. Since it's cast and ground, it should be good. Even really good. Can you comment on flatness of the top? Have you used a precision straight edge to evaluate?

    • @ChadMyers73
      @ChadMyers73  6 місяців тому +1

      I do not have a machinist straight edge. I did put a 48” steel straight edge on it off camera with no light protrusion if that helps at all. Thanks for watching!
