- It's finally happening!! The move to Alaska that is... The dogs (Ganga, Chloe, Cheech and Chong) accompanied me on the drive up here from Texas. We arrived Sunday May 19th. We stopped by the property shortly after getting in, just to see what things looked like after a winter of site work, pier installation and setting the Tin Can on stilts. I will continue to work on creating and uploading the videos of the drive up here, and hope to have them completed within the next 2 weeks. Once I am caught up there I will then get on a one-video a week schedule to keep you updated on the remodeling process, construction process and the move in; along with some fun times and adventures in the Great Land!

Things are lookin' up. It will be fun to watch your progress. it will come together quicker than you can say Jack Flash. 🙂
Thanks Tom!! I certainly hope you're right... lol
Hot Damn, can't wait to see the progress. Be safe.
Thanks John!!
Sounds great. I love it when people's dreams come true... enjoy!
Thanks Diana... I hope it does, but this is my life we're talking about... lol
So excited things are coming together for you! Looking forward to watching what's next.
Thanks Corina!! Yeah, slowly but surely...
Looks like one heck of a solid foundation to me! I'm looking forward to seeing it all come together. Congrats! -Dusty
Thanks Dusty!! The guys I used for that work have those piers custom built by a metal fabricator in Kenai. They are each rated for 90,000# load bearing capacity!! While there were on site over the winter I had them go ahead and place the piers for the 2 additions I'll be making to the container this year and next. The deepest pier had to go down 27 feet to hit solid rock!! And, they welded the container to the frames, so unless there is a really major shakey-shakey, it's not going anywhere! LOL...
Good to see you finally made it up. Excited to see the progress. I drove by your place a year ago; sure looks different today. Thanks for sharing! 😊
Hey Allie!! How's it going?? Yep, I'm up here now...until Labor Day weekend, when I fly back to TX to get another load of my "stuff", my 4Runner, and the remaining dogs. Then I drive back up here again, and will be here for the long haul at that point. Yep, I had folks doing work on the property over the fall and winter, and they did amazing work. Now the Sky Cabin is about 4' up in the air, thus the new name... lol!! I'm still staying in Kenai until the middle of next month at which time I have to move in to the container, ready or not. Over the new 2-3 years I'll be building expansion on it so that it will end up around 1400 sq. ft. when completed. You drove by huh??? You should have stopped and painted "Allie was here" on the walls... LOL!!! That would have been priceless! Take care young lady!!
Thanks. What brand of carport is that? Did you just put it up or was it there through winter? Have fun.
Thanks for watching!! That is the large ShelterLogic Garage-in-a-Box. It's been up for 2 years now. The winds up here have shredded both end pieces. I ordered new, super heavy duty ones from ShelterLogic, and have them with me in the truck. I'll be replacing those in the next couple of weeks. I also put up a smaller version called a Shed-in-a-Box in 2022, but the winter of 2022-2023 destroyed it. I wasn't here to clear the snow off of it, and it collapsed and totally twisted up the frame. I have a new one of those being shipped up and should be here in a couple of weeks.
Looks like a damn fine place to be, and getting better by the minute. Looking forward to seeing your progress. I enjoy your videos, thank you.
Thanks for watching and the cool comment. It'll come together...not as fast I'd want it, but it'll get there... lol!!
