      Welcome to "Independent Service Shops" who have more bravado about fixing cars than actual SKILL to work on an exotic car. Lots of mechanics will brag that they can fix stuff, but get WAAAY over their head.

    • @lscarlet2475
      @lscarlet2475 5 років тому +5

      Honestly iv heard WAY WAY more horror stories from the main dealer on older exotics than Independants, the trick is to vet the independent. For a 90s ferrari I'd be taking it to one or two specialists with good reputations that solely work on classics or the one that only works on out of warranty/factory support ferrari.
      Theres a point where the dealer isn't training people on stuff and the mechanics won't have seen one where you have to transition to specialists. It's also where people who were trained by the marque but left because they got fed up with the bullshit tend to end up if their good mechanics.
      The main cost of working on an exotic like this is having to travel to theechanic in a lot of ways, the guy I'd be taking this too is 9 hours drive from me for Example.
      Its the same with porsche, ducati, old triumph motorcycle stuff the ONLY companies who I'd take a classic to for work would be Aston Martin and Rolls, Aston have a department at the factory that handle it, trains mechanics specially and you'll get it back with period touches, rolls again have a similar setup but it's not as simple or quick as going to the main dealer.
      Owning these cars mean you have to be an enthusiast and know enough to recognise that a mechanic is in over their head or is competent.

    The 348 is my favorite ferrari of all time. I remember seeing one in my neighborhood when I was a kid and it did a great impact on me, it was those kind of cars that makes you a petrolhead. Maybe it’s not the fastest or mythical ferrari of all time, but with 360 Modena wheels on it and some headers work, this car is just perfect for me, simple, reasonably fast to let you enjoy its full potential and I think 80’s - 90’s designs are getting quite the cult status they somewhat deserve. Really underrated !
