    Love that you made this tutorial. Daniel Caesar's chords as I've always called them before now lol carry so much emotions but still remain beautiful. I appreciate you for the time and effort you put into making this. Thanks!

    This video is like when your friend who’s really good at taking notes lends them to you to study for a test.
    I had an understanding of the concepts - albeit abstractly; having to work through the formula to find the answer every time.
    However, having all these chord variations and the roles they play laid out so nicely organized helps see the bigger picture/their relationship to one another much more clearly.
    Super dope video ✌️ +1 subscriber!

    very late on this, but i was wondering are you basically saying "I-Vm-IV-IVm" like do I need to find ways to turn 5 & 4 into minors? struggling to understand what "forms of 4" means

    • @jojotheworld
      @jojotheworld  2 дні тому +1

      5minor can basically be represented 3 ways. As just 5minor, as 1Dominant, or as 5minor and 1Dominant in the same measure. As far as the forms of 4minor go, I’m basically giving you a bunch of chords that contain the note “b6” within the key which is the essence of the 4minor chord, which includes the b6maj7 chord and also the b7dominant chord.

    can you explain why minor5 is under go to 4?

    • @jojotheworld
      @jojotheworld  Рік тому +6

      Hmm, depending on your level of understanding of theory it might be a bit tricky to understand but I’ll try my best.
      Basically in western music the most important chord relationship is the 5(major or dominant) chord going to the 1 chord. We can extend this sequence of “5 to 1” by adding the 2 chord in front of the 5 chord because 2 is the “5 of 5”. Meaning if you start on 5 and count up 5 notes you’ll get 2. 56712. So you get a 2-5-1
      So that’s the reason why 1Dominant goes to 4, cause 1 is the “5 of 4”. We can extend this sequence going to 4 by adding the 5 minor chord, which is the 2 of the 4 chord. Basically we can “copy and paste” the 2-5-1 progression that brought us to 1 and use it to take us to 4, but you don’t always have to use both chords, you can use just one or both.
      Haha I know this is kind of a lot but I hope it made sense. You might be able to get a better understanding by looking up secondary dominants and learning about those

      @tomnguyen6880 5 місяців тому +1

      Hey man, I know I‘m late but another question regarding to that post:
      Is 1Dominant essentially not just a 1maj7? Or should I view the 1D in “Go to 4“ just as in it‘s functionality, so that it is working even without the maj7
      I hope you understand the question it‘s kinda confusing tbh 😅

    • @jojotheworld
      @jojotheworld  4 місяці тому

      @@tomnguyen6880thanks for the question. So the difference between 1D and 1maj7 is that in 1D the seventh is lowered by a half step, so in the tonal octave it would have the notes 1,3,5,b7(instead of a regular 7 like a 1maj7 chord).
      If you think about it triadically(3 note chords) then 1maj7 and 1D are identical because they both “reduce” down to 1,3,5.
      This isn’t to say that 1maj7 can’t lead you to the 4 chord, but a 1Dominant chord has a very strong pull to 4. Hope that answered your question
