Great interview. Mike is such an enigma and he's so honest about everything. That situation in the book with Melvin and his girlfriend is the most messed up and unwinnable tragedy.

The entire band has seen some serious shit. Definitely recommend listening to the audiobook version of their book, I gained so much respect for Smelly with all he personally went through.

@@mdog86 that book was the first experience I had with an audiobook, and they did a great job on it. I keep meaning to look for more punk rock audiobooks, but always forget. Can you recommend anything good that covers 80s or 90s punk bands?

@@scottbaylo I haven't read any but apparently a ton of bands have their own books. Henry Rollins' is supposed to be good, Greg Graffin has his called Anarchy Evolution, also Scar Tissue by Anthony Kiedis. Not sure if those are audio versions or not, just a few I've heard are highly rated.

Can confirm the dead are horrible. Saw them in 92 or 93.

Ya great ....so. he is not really sober for himself or for his daughters but temporarily because" he feels like it".. or rather it is because he is in the honeymoon phase of his relationship with somebody who is also sober... I wish he would wake up and give a s*** before somebody comes and attacks me oh, I have been a loyal fan since '86/87... I'm not trying to criticize just instead point out what a cool human being he is without drugs..

Successful independent labels were/are no different to a major label.
