Chergui is a fragrance from the french house of Serge Lutens and contains notes of Tobacco, Honey, Incense and Hay. All these notes combine to provide the wearer with a delightful and intoxicating composition.

When I was starting out on my fragrance collecting journey, every frag reviewer - and there was just a handful pre 2010 - had chergui in his top 10. But nobody is mentioning it - and the house of lutens - anymore. Glad to see an old favorite getting much deserved love again.
Yes Chergui is a timeless classic and always deserves exposure.
This was a total blind buy for me. At first, I didn't really care for this but I must tell you that this grew on me and I love it now! It is especially great for the cooler months. To me, It's a beautiful, mature, classy fragrance.
Try this in the summer, it just works for me. Gorgeous stuff
It IS a gorgeous fragrance. I am a fan of Orientals to begin with so falling into Chergui was easy for me. YES the details are where it shines. It has a great attitude, true. Very saucy sexy French joie de vivre that conquers the senses.
Childhood memories pop up all the time for me in fragrances. The good ones for the most part. My latest review as flooded with childhood memories of the hill fires in Southern California.

Falling into Chergui. What a lovely way to put it and that's exactly what happens with this fragrance. I'm super pleased with how my channel is progressing. 1k is a milestone that once seemed so distant but now I can smell it! At first, I didn't know how to feel about this fragrance. However, after wearing it multiples times, I love it. It's an amazing fragrance.
Agreed. It's quite complex and sometimes busy fragrances might not be love at first sniff. Chergui is so well balanced and elegant.
It’s a work of art. People say it smells feminine , on my skin it’s quite masculine and everyone who’s smelled it agrees

this is the first time for me to give it a shot! And actually i'm not quite sure what is the tobacco scent, but i do get the smell of honey. What is lovely is that the smell of chergui reminds me of the film 'DUNE', the desert planet and the spice, the hot wind blowing up the sand. Just like a brainstorming！
Love your video! Already loved Chergui (it is beautiful, no?) But, loving Chergui aside. LOVE LOVE your outtakes, as much as the video! Also, want to say that my husband hates perfumes, I love them and we're still not in divorce court, but he will actually wear Chergui when I wear it out, we're actually a matching team. Both of us have a light hand when wearing but you walk by our table and you smell Chergui, people have given us so many compliments. Now, I'm going to have to see ALL your reviews on you tube, I just found this when I googled Chergui for a repurchase. Thumbs up. You...are just haywire, LOL LOL

I absolutely love this scent ! Love at first sniff !! Even better than Aramis Tobacco Reserve! Not that expensive even if you’re looking for the vintage bottle.

Just received a decant after years of curiosity. This invoked a scent memory for me too, although I’m not exactly sure of what specifically. Something intensely familiar, something comforting and warm. I just might need a full bottle
I just ordered a decant of this... my favorite frags are tobacco based... Mancera Red Tobacco, Zaharoff Signature Tobac, Initio Side Effect, Replica Jazz Club... and so on... very excited to test this one

Very different. Chergui is more classical and elegant with more subtlety than TV.

This is a really nice scent from start to finish. The hay aspect is by far the strongest note in the scent with honey sweetness and tobacco right behind. I love this in the fall and winter for sure. Nice review sir.

Thanks for the review! Went to try Back to Black but was really disappointed, for me it was all about honey, and I mean Milk&Honey handwash =\ now quite intrigued to try Chergui if honey is not so strong in this one.
Yes Back to Black gives you a BIG honey hit. I like how it plays off the tobacco. But yes, Chergui definitely dials the honey down.

We have restrictions on perfume when sending out of the UK so apologies if it doesn't reach you. I'll be sniffing all the customs officials next time I fly to see if any are reeking of O'Unknown!

Off topic but is there a difference between PP's oils and sprays? Great vids!
A great question! The oils are slightly higher concentration and will last longer on the skin but don't project as much as there is no ethanol evaporation. The sprays are a touch more diluted but contain ethanol which evaporates to give you a bigger scent bubble. Layer both for the ultimate combo of longevity and projection!
I would like but I hate honey in scents, and I'm worried that it will get nausing for my nose

I own the old formulation of Chergui and have tried and tried to like it but I just can't. Ugh. To my nose it is a vanilla harsh chemical synthetic smell like a cleaner maybe some rotten leather and CINNAMON.
