Carlisle, Galloway and Godolphin are my favorite from PDM. I like Layton exclusif but i dont own it yet. I will. Habdan and Ojaun are also great. I have a decant of Habdan. Btw, Galloway is beast mode for me. Versatile and enjoyable. Thanks

It's a phenomenal fragrance, truly one of the best in my collection! The creamy sharp sandalwood dry down is intoxicating. One of the few fragrances that garners unsolicited compliments. Masterpiece.

Awesome review! I love Carlisle as well. This fragrance has given me the most unsolicited compliments out of all my bottles. Definitely the best from this great house in my opinion and I've pretty much sampled them all. Herod is up there as well and a close 3rd for me is Habdan. I really wish Habdan received a bit more love in the community, but to each their own.

Couldn’t agree more with your take on this one, I love Carlisle. I can smell this on myself all day (as I can with a number of PDM scents) and thats what makes them worth the money compared to other high end niche fragrances in my opinion 👍🏻

Loving it Chris,how you are justifying in buying this fragrance working over a three year period. I have to start thinking like that. My problem is I spray too much,I also like to spritz before i go to bed. Good job as always.

Got a small sample of this and at first, i didn't feel it would be to my taste. The 2nd time, i wore it on, i still felt the same but the 3rd time, i got a fantastic scent bubble and really started to appreciate it! Even my mum who rarely comments on my colognes, said it was really nice. I soon decided to buy a full bottle and have no regrets! Got an unsolicited compliment from a couple while i was at work too and was asked how much it was.....they were gutted at the price lol. It's a good one for sure.
A great example of how a scent can grow on you. It takes a few wearings before the olfactory senses can appreciate the nuances a scent can be layered with. I'm glad you grew to like it!
May I add its long lasting on clothes , I mean it stays forever, I still smell the scent very clearly after a month an half on my scarf, wonderful fragrance

Just received my Carlisle and I effing love it. I went a bit nose blind after 15 minutes the Missus came home and said she could smell it approaching the front door !

Smelled Pegasus, Herod, Godolphin and Layton before, but this is the 1st PdM, that gets me 100% from top to base. Still smelling the pleasant drydown from my teststrip sprayed almost 1 month ago... so the performance is not bad (but the PdMs have all great longevity)! Great quality notes & well done from perfumer Quentin Bisch. Get a bottle next winter. Great review & recommendation, Chris! ☕🌞👌

Carlisle is amazing. The rum note you mentioned is quite prominent off my skin; glad you pick up rum in it as well. I also get the oud-ish punch swelling from beneath the composition. I'm addicted.

It's the best in my opinion from the entire line. You are right about that seeming tobacco note... It's rich, creamy, sexy and smells very expensive. I love Carlisle and I am going to get a backup bottle... in case.

I recently got my first PDM bottle it was Godolphin and they threw in samples (Layton and Pegasus) , ive seriously been missing out. These are beautiful!

When I first tried this at Harrods, I think my nose became nose blind and I was kind of 'meh' to it. Months later, I'm glad I got a sample and DANG! Feel for it hard!

I bought a sample of this and wore it this afternoon. Positive feedback from those around me. It does not require many sprays, and i suspect 2 have sprays would be enough. I will buy a full bottle of this before the sample runs out.

I just got a sample of this a couple weeks ago. You are right. This is almost a masterpiece. Maybe it is a masterpiece. I seemed to pick up cinnamon apple with tobacco. It is gorgeous. Probably going to have to buy this one

I tried this one today, I must say the opening was too strong for my liking, and I didn’t really like it.. Buy my god, the dry down is just fabulous.. After the 1st hour passed, I fell in love with it.. But I am on it with you, try this one before you buy.

Carlisle is a BEAUTIFUL fragrance!!! One of the very best from PdM! Do try Habdan and Darley if you haven’t.
Habdan is pretty much 99% AdP Oud and Darley is 99% Original Santal/Reflection/Le Male... Just slightly sweeter/brighter/smoother and that typical PdM beastmode performance.

Darley is too slept on, tried it at the store and was really really impressed. Almost bought it at the spot but will Wait for warmer weather. It would be beutoful in warm spring and summer.. my first impression was better then Reflection mans.. le male not even close

If you have the opportunity you should try D600-Carner barcelona, has nothing to do with this one but I really like it and it´s not as famous as other niche scents, really pleasing, wearable and for any ocassion scent. Give it a try, !

I bought a bottle and had been using it past couple of weeks at work (although more a cooler weather scent ) and it really works well in pleasing me and those around me.
Hey mate I got a sample of carlisle and as soon as I got it i didn't really like it as much I do own layton but I just wasn't feeling it but when I went back to it omg I loved it!!!! I love this fragrance so so much I just don't know why I didn't like it at first sniff even tho I own layton maybe my noise was having a break during that moment...who knows hahaha, I got myself a bottle and i'm just waiting for my precious juice to arrive!! I just want to ask you how many sprays do you do and where do you apply?? carlisle reminds me of a stronger niche version of tom ford noir extreme which I love that fragrance so much I'm so glad I brought a bottle of carlisle!! i'm from Australia and they don't sell it down here we have to import it from the US or Europe which is a shame cause it's a masterpiece in my opinion! if you can get your hands on it get it...but I 100% agree to sample just in case if it's not your taste haha
Some of the best scents are the ones that grow on us. Sometimes our noses aren't developed enough to appreciate a composition but upon revisiting it at a later time we can be ready for it.

Which batch code u had mate? And how's the performance? Some people say 2019-2020 batch is not so good?
I have a doubt regarding the cap of carlisle? I have got a carlisle where the presentation and batch code looks all right. But two issues : Cap of my Carlisle is different from that of my Herod and Oajan bottle. In the case of my Herod and Oajan, I need to put some effort to remove the cap from the bottle , this is not the case with my Carlisle bottle.
Second issue: Smell doesn't change much and projection is very poor after 30mins. Remains as a faint skin scent for another 6 hours!

Do you know why carlise and akaster have the name one the bottle but others from the range dont?
I get a black liquor-ish vibe when I smell directly off my skin that I do not like but when it's in the air it smells beautiful (chocolate, tobacco, woody vibe). I sprayed on my jacket and walk back in, it was fantastic. But I just dont like wearing on my skin because of that black liquor vibe. Having said that, people like it off me so I am little lost :p

Chris, I just got a sample of Carlisle last week... it’s very good. Still trying to decide what my first bottle should be out of Carlisle or Layton. I live in Dallas, Texas so might start with Layton due to the summer heat here. I find quite a few similarities between both tbh, especially on the dry down with Carlisle obviously a little darker with that oud/tobacco that comes through. Layton has a fantastic dry down too and is complex in its own right. I think I have to start with Layton due to the versatility but Carlisle will be next on my list from PDM. Cheers for the review!

I did get a sample from Luckyscent. It is very cozy and enjoyable, and there is a unique spiciness to it. Not quite bottle worthy for me.

The tobacco was kind of light, and I did not like the osmanthus flower note. Its an apricot smelling flower that didn't feel right in the blending.
Tabac Rouge, Red Tobacco, and Tobacco Vanille, are my top 3 tobacco frags.

Actually prefer both Oajan and Layton Exclusif myself. I just feel like it falls a little flat in the late mid to base, and takes on a hollow milky quality. The sillage is also very similar to 811 Absoluto by GP, although that one is far less woody and more unisex IMO. Thanks Chris!

PS: Yeah It's a blind buy hahaha, but I sampled layton and herod a while ago, and I loved'em. Some may say Carlisle's a mix between those two, so I guess I won't be disappointed (I HOPE SO :D)

Parfums de Marly has REFORMULATED Carlisle. I own an older formulation which has an alcohol concentration of 77%. The new formulation I see in stores has 81% alcohol. My formulation is a dark ORANGE / AMBER color. The new formulation is a very light, faint copper color. The new formulation does not last as long and it smells different. Parfums de Marly fragrances are ALWAYS getting reformulated and become much weaker than their ORIGINAL releases. Parfums de Marly HAS NOT been transparent when it comes to the reformulation of their fragrances. Herod, Layton & Oajan have also been reformulated and have 3%-4% more alcohol in newer batches.
But it is still very strong. You almost dont smell any differences

It's a good shout about trying before you buy. I don't know why but this fragrance reminds me of an older mature woman. It leans feminine to my nose, I really wanted to like this one but It's just not for me

I've compared them directly and like them both. The tobacco notes are very similar but they are not identical, though I think for me they are readily interchangeable. Carlisle is a bit more refined and perhaps fruity, whereas Red Tobacco has slightly better longevity for me and has a slight spicy component. My plan is to alternate them as long as I can get them. Discount prices are not too far apart.

It's unisex but most discounters market it as a woman's fragrance. To my nose it definitely does lean feminine, smells like an old woman, but everyone's olfactory is different. Maybe try a sample from fragrancesamplesuk?
