- The DJI waterproof case is a cool little gizmo that allows you to take the Pocket 2 underwater and capture some great footage. It's very reasonably priced and definitely worth the money.

𝐔𝐏𝐃𝐀𝐓𝐄: Big thanks to Marcos B.F. in the comments below for pointing out that I accidentally skipped a crucial step. After turning on the WP case in accessories, go back to settings and swipe right. Find the WP case mode icon and tap it to enable. This will allow you to power it off while it's in the case! Problem solved, yay!!! Thanks again Marcos, much appreciated! 🎉
Now if we can just figure out an easier way to remove it from the case. I wish DJI would have installed a little pull tab on the Pocket 2 specifically for removal from the WP case, similar to the tab on GoPro camera batteries to make for easy removal.
My idea would be to place a strip of fishing line or other thin wire across the opening and then lower the Pocket into the case. Then when it’s time to extract, pull up on both ends of the line, pulling out the Pocket from the base not the gimbal.

Hi, When you turn on the waterproof case under accessories, there is one more step outlined in this video, while in camera mode, you swipe down and then left to reveal the underwater case accessory option to turn off into waterproof case mode, once in that mode, button 1 will turn on and off the Pocket 2. Also wen you turn it on it will turn the gimbal to a 45 degree angle for the underwater case.

Thanks for making this video. I am a news reporter/editor and have ordered one of these to produce web video. We do a lot of storm coverage and I cover a resort city, so water shots are going to be very common!

not sure if mentioned in previous comments. but you can press and hold the left (#1) button to power on and off the unit. only after it's already set in waterproof case mode.

Nice Kelly. One way to do it is that I think the Pocket 2 will power off after a certain time of being idle. Maybe set the auto power off to the lowest limit? Just an idea.

You can program the camera for turning off after 1min on standby and that's all !! Osmo Pocket 1 has that option, so 2 should have it too

Just got mine and tried it out! Any tips on avoiding fog? I use the antifog strips but here in south ga it's so hot when I jumped in an extremely cold spring it still fogs up bad:(

Hi Kelly, great video. I would like to get this water proof case for my pocket 2 to use on SUP board without purchasing another action camera like Hero or DJI OSMO Action, one concern is that if not always soak the case in water, is it going to over heat the pocket2 while recording? I noticed pocket 2 will getting kinda warm if I recording for over 15 mins. Thanks.
Hi, I have noticed that the Pocket 2 does get warm inside the waterproof case, especially on hot days, but I've never had any problems with it OVERheating.
Is there a way to change modes while underwater? (ex. going from video to slo-mo) thanks for the video!

No audio while in the case ? Will it pick up some audio before you actually dive in, in case you want to say something?
Good question. Not sure of the answer. I'll do some testing and let you know.
Sorry for the long delay. Yes it will pickup some audio, but the quality isn't great.
Once you power it off do you need to reset the settings so it does it in the case or does it hold the settings. Example I’m going scuba diving and I want to turn on and off to save battery
If I'm not mistaken it will hold the settings, but not 100% sure.

In camera view, swipe down on the touchscreen. Swipe right to find waterproof case mode and tap to enable and to disable the said function.

How is the quality of photo/video above water with the case on?
I work on the water so very liable to splashes and occasional swimming but the majority is above.

But does the gimbal stil work in the case or can the camera be only in one exact position the whole time, I mean can the gimbal still correct the camera if you move your hand to much when filming, Thankyou for the video!
Yes, it absolutely still works in the case. Range of motion isn't quite as wide, since it has the big case around it.
Thanks for this review! I was planning on buying this to get some shots in the sea. However I do wonder if the case causes any scratching to the pocket 2, and whether or not you can use ND filters whilst the pocket 2 is inside the case? Thanks :)
Thanks so much for watching! I used the waterproof case quite a bit over the course of a week in Florida and didn't notice any scratching. I didn't try using ND filters with the waterproof case, but I definitely think they will work. There's plenty of clearance inside. Have a good day.

Hi, I just came from scuba diving with the Pocket 2 and had a red filter on it to compensate for the deep water footage, no problem at all. :)

I would be so afraid to do this. I've heard SO SO SO MANY bad reviews about the Pocket 2 waterproof case, with water getting inside and ruining the camera. I think i would rather buy a cheap $50-70 dollar action cam for diving.
I've never had any problems with it.

I need help please. I went to accessories and change it to waterproof. How do you prevent the gimbal from locking up in the waterproof housing is it a setting? It moves around and I can’t get it to work properly. Sorry I’m new to this.
After turning on the waterproof case in 'Accessories', go back to 'Settings' and swipe right. Find the WP case mode icon and tap to enable. Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any more questions. 👍

Hello. Can you shot video in vertical mode when the P2 is inside the waterproof case? also stabilization works ok?
Hi Edwin. What do you mean by "vertical mode"? The Pocket 2 isn't really made like a smartphone in that regard. Is that what you mean? If so, that's not really an option.
@@KellyGreenYall Hi. You can use the P2 in vertical mode, also called portrait mode for instagram stories. I had used mine that way. Can you use the portrait mode inside the waterproof case? Or is there not space the case for the gimbal to move?. Thx.
@@edwin8808 Oh yes, sorry. Plenty of space inside the WP case for the gimbal to move.
Aspect ratio is 16:9. Stabilization works great inside the waterproof case.

I love the Pocket 2 for its portability, stability and terrific footage. You can also get some really cool accessories for it, including that waterproof case. I take mine just about everywhere. Get the creator combo (link in description), you'll love it!

Anybody know if it also works with the wide-angle "lens" ?
I'm sure it'll fit physically, but would a bit of a bummer,
if you had to crop because the casing was in frame.
Didn't try it, but there seems to be plenty of space for it.
Would guess it would but parts of the case would probably show on video.
I just tried my waterproof case's power button and it works on and off. 😉😊😁
