Honestly way better than I expected. I do hope in the future, PH movies and shows fix their audio "techniques" where they increase the volume for the vocals/conversation of the characters. If we compare it to US/Japan, it really sounds unrealistic.

GMA can't mess this up. V5 was a big part of our culture. I grew up watching V5. They gave justice to it. So proud.

Some Japanese have been tweeting about the teaser and I think it’s good. Thank you for your reaction vid. Every episode has to be sent to Toei for final approval. That’s how much GMA worked so hard to make this faithful to a classic.
hmm yeah Japan has to catch up on mech adaptations. So far off the top of my head they've only done Tetsujin-28, Patlabor, and..thats it?
No Mazinger Z, no Getter Robo, no Gundam (unless you count G-Savior movie from early 2000's which wasnt made in Japan anyway), no EVA

GMA 7 has a long history with Voltes V. When the originally aired series was about to reach its conclusion with the appearance of the mechanical eagle, it was cancelled. It took a long time for viewers to finally be able to watch the ending. Voltes V was one of the first giant robots I ever drew on paper.
Ryu, this anime tv show has a very historical significance in our country. As much as this is from Japan (a part of the trilogy which includes Daimos and Combatler V), this very particular show was embraced by the Filipinos. Voltes V is very much Filipino as it is Japanese. It's already a part of our pop culture.

Voltes V is a big part of all Filipino 90s kid. I have good confidence in GMA na kayang kaya nila to.
The names were changed when it was dubbed in English in the Philippines. Kenichi Gou is Steve Armstrong, Ippei Mine is Mark Gordon, Daijiro Gou is Big Bert Armstrong, Hiyoshi Gou is Little John Armstrong, and Megumi Oka is Jamie Robinson. Kentaro Gou is Ned Armstrong, Professor Hamaguchi is Dr. Smith, and Professor Sakunji is Dr. Hook.
For the antagonists Prince Heinel is Prince Zardos, Ri Katherine is Zandra, Rui Jangal is Draco, Zuul is the same, Do Bergan is General Bolzak, and Emperor Zu Zambajil is the same.

@@budgiecat9039 The US version was a redub with American voices. It was a compilation of the first 3 episodes and a few others in between. But it didn't cover the cover the entire story. The Philippine Voltes V movie was just a compilation of the last 4-5 episodes of the series. This video is the US release.

See, this is the only thing about reacting a Philippine TV series that has its potential to be recognized in other countries. No problem about the visuals and overall production of it, it's just the English subtitles. Hopefully weeks later they'll update it to make it more understandable especially other countries may see it as well.

Voltes V since 1960 here in the Philippines. 1980 anime Diamos, Dragonball Z, Bioman, astro boy, Machine garcy, Shader all is japanese anime. 1990 Ghost figther, flame of recca, sailor moon, in my youth years.

we are a bi-lingual country. We speak both tagalog and english and combine the two most of the time. In Philippine cinema,, both are usually used in dialogues. We hope this gets shown in Japan as well dubbed in japanese so that japanese audience could also appreciate this.

back in 1977 or 78 when this was first introduced, Voltes V was 6pm Friday-night habit for many kids like me then. Every kid on the street rusheds home to switch on their B&W screens and start gluing their eyes. It was an engaging anime story then and it still is now. What made it unique then was apart from the usual struggle between the conquered and the conquerors, the backstory behind the Boazanians are also interesting- the politics, the royal blood situations, the hunger for power was just as riveting as the stories of those being invaded. So for me to see this live adaptation 40+ years later is nothing short of a treat for the eyes. It is a gift from my childhood for me. Nostalgic and also excited for this new retelling

GMA is the only tv station that aired Voltes V several times since 80's and i am sure they will aired it every weekday 1hr with commercial
The names used are the western names from way back in the English dub of the original anime show in the 70's. Both the US and the localized English dubs share the same names for all characters. For you guys in Japan, they're Kenichi Go, Daijiro Go, Hiyoshi Go, Ippei Mine and Megumi Oka while for us here they're the Armstrong brothers (Steve, Big Bert, Little John), Mark Gordon and Jamie Robinson.
hmm same thing happened in the U.S. when Golion (Voltron) got localized as well as Macross/Southern Cross/Mospeada (Robotech), Space Battleship Yamato (Star Blazers), Mazinger Z (Tranzor Z), and Gatchaman (Battle of the Planets/G-Force) got localized

Thanks for your very good reaction. It was translated in english when it was shown in the phils in the 80’s, so those names and characters remains plus some tweaks. It was nade in the phils, mostly CGI. I also hope that it will be shown not just in japan but world wide 😊

I grew up watching Voltes V here in the Philippines. I am 49 years old now and this brings fond childhood memories. I am among the kids back then who even memorized the theme song in Japanese. I am so excited about this. I can't wait to watch it. Thank you for making a reaction video for this.

The team members are:
Steve Armstrong: the leader and eldest of the 3 Armstrong brothers, good with guns and hand to hand combat
Big Bert Armstrong: the 2nd of the Armstrong brothers, he is if I’m not mistaken good with judo or aikido
Little John: the youngest of the brothers, he is good with tech stuff and considered a genius
Mark Gordon: a rodeo champ, He is also good with guns and whip
Jaimie Robinson: she is from a ninja line and the daughter of commander Robinson who is friends with the parents of the Armstrong brothers

As a Gen-Xer, this brings back childhood memories. First time I watched this was in the late 70s along with Mazinger Z. Until former Pres. Marcos banned these anime series due to too much violence, a lot of children were devastated including me.

I think it will be on Netflix and it was on approximately of 80 episodes and there on its 80% of creating this project and yes i think there will have english subtitles sooner or even other countries subtitles cuz i think the three station in thailand is already rooting to get this to air also on there station so i think its possible to make it to japan also

When we were young, way back then voltes v was our favorite cartoon series in Philippines.
I was a kids then when Voltes5 was so very famous…and kids became so addicted to it…to the extent that some kids don’t go to school because, they don’t wanna to miss it…but i do go to school, for our school is near my home so no worries about the time slot.

We were curious what the Japanese fans have to say about this being in Tagalog. As a kid, I watched the English dub back in the 80s and I wish it were in English even though I can understand both. It was interesting to hear your perspective as someone from Japan.

I'm Voltes V fan since I was a kid back in 1978 when it was first shown on GMA net work every friday but removed by the goverment because of violent scene but Voltes V came back in the first part of the 21st century in tagalog language but I like the english version because it's more nostalgic but I wish they make this into a movie I waited but there is no interest until I saw the trailer and I"m happy that my fellow country men do the acting and produce the television movie of Voltes V I'm 56 years old now. I first watched the animated version when I was 11 years old but Voltes V you make me a kid again so let 's volt in Voltes V you'll always be my hero. The language they use is tagalog and english or tag-glish
Phillippines are fanatic of Voltes V and for sure they will play that movie in your country coz it was orginated in Japan.
Teleseryes are aired per day and not per week. But for this quality, I think it would be much better if aired per week to make sure the staff gets sufficient time to give the best quality as possible. Im certain they are still polishing the later episodes and having it per week gives them time to do so. We already know the storyline as we watched it way back but Im here for the retelling of the story, visuals, etc. Kudos to the entire production team, actors, etc!

This one took years to make so we're spared with some quality issues fortunately. My remaining issue is gonna be the writing and the new characters they're going to add to appeal to non fans.

I think after it airs in the Philippines. It'll probably be air in Japan too. Also they need to render it more before it air in Japan so that the movements of cgi become more smoother.

This better be consistent. Gma is known to do heavy drama thats out of the original story just to upplay the actors. We who have voltes v as a childhood hero wants to see more of voltes v and the team than sideline actors that wast really in the series. I hope and pray thay do this right. IMO, If it's going to be a series with more than 24+episode(40mins ea), it should be break down into seasons, it shouldn't be rushed esp if there are still under production episodes, so the production team could have enough room to breathe and time to prep.
Toei probably has the distribution rights for VVL in Japan so I expect it will be showing in a Japanese channel. Either that or they can do a Japanese-cast version of it which won't be hard for them production-wise since it's already 100% done on the CGI effects front. I'd watch it too.
I'm just curious why Japan didn't do the live action adaptation first they far more ahead in technology to pull it off

Maybe the public and Japanese population interest isn't high as compare to the Philippine market population, viewership and ratings mataas talaga.

Good example Tsubasa soccer anime was very populary in every football nations in the world including here in Asia unlike Slamdunk basketball isn't popular in Thailand, Singapore, Vietnam even Middle East because basketball is not big as football/soccer in Asia.
Same also to Voltes kaya itong Japan didnt bother and risk to produce a real life action robot figure because market population is quite low in most countries in the World.
They rather watch Power Ranger and Avengers dahil yun po mas kilala sa mundo.
