I'm glad Nintendo settled the 2D versus 3D Metroid dispute with,
"Why not both?"
That's true
Remember Other M?
that game doesn't exist. We work to forget it.
nintendoluigi The writer of that story has the nerve to tell fans that we didnt like playing as a girl. Samus is a girl yes but she is a badass with a tragic backstory that made her who she was. IMO fusion as the best writing and P3 has the best action, he shouldve studied those two more for good character development if that what he was going for (because it was NOT achieved)
2la84me1 That was a joke artcle. Sakamoto didn't say anything like that.
Now talk about how Gamexplain is going to do a 4 hour analysis over a Logo
Gavin Visco *The analysis machine will tell us that "the game comes out in the future, it will have samus, the 4 represents a timeline, and that andre will never come back ;-;"*
Weege220/YTB if this is all true then you must own a time machine, no one can be this accurate against the analysis machine 🤔
Gavin Visco *Future Weegee 😎*
Weege220/YTB can you travel in the future and tell us when Smash for the Switch releases
Gavin Visco He won't.
Why is the cookie monster talking to me about metroid..
muppetist
It's just a blue Elmo or blue Grouch.
Luna102 he is also a youtuber
Ethan Bradberry IKR! Not all muppets know each other🤣
its grover not cookie monster
Sakamoto didn't actually say that people didn't like Other M because Samus is female. The source for that quote was a former site that was the video game equivalent of The Onion - i.e, satirical fake articles.
TheFantasticJoe I loved Other M and am not excited for Prime 4. The purpose of prime was phazon and I don't know how you can continue that. I know it doesn't have to be but I have very mixed opinions on 3D Metroid. I like adventures but I really hate first person games as a general rule.
The thing about samus that she's the mute badass who if you piss off would punch your teeth down your throat without her power suit. She's not ment to talk or even listen to orders. If she wants to use something she will!
Prime 4 is defiantly gonna cover the loose ends with Sylux, so theres that.
kain the dragoon And see, speaking for myself, that’s the kind of characterization Samus shouldn’t have if people want me to get invested in her character. Also, it contradicts her manga characterization.
WOAH WOAH WOAH
NO HOTEL MARIO HD??????!!!!!!!!!
SteamRamSam no... sadly no hotel mario hd or Zelda cdi hd ;-;
Guys, guys, please.
There's no Sonic the Hedgehog '07 or Mario's Time Machine 2. E3 would've been better. You know how hyped the fans would be???
E.T. 2: The landfill grows bigger
on Ataribox (look it up it's actually a thing)
Atari spokesperson: Oh believe me, it will be good. *wink
Never before has the number 4 been so loved.
Jacob Spagnotti Smash Bros 4 3DS/Wii U
Oh yeah...Well TECHNICALLY Nintendo never called it Smash Bros 4!
Never be4
Jacob Spagnotti it's been loved 4ever
Jacob Spagnotti Sm4sh
One day people will stop quoting the thing about Prime not being canon, or an alternate universe or whatever, because uh, that's a mistranslation.
They're a *side-story*. There's a huge difference there.
Oh. How interesting. Someone like me who is learning japanese I can understand why misstranslations happens so frequently. Those who translate wrong to me sounds like they haven't learned the language in-depth like I currently am.
The thing I'm so excited about with Prime 4 is that it's gonna be in HD on some of Nintendo's most powerful hardware.
Actually, Switch *is* Nintendo's best hardware period (in docked mode. Handheld mode? Go talk to Xenoblade 2)
Yeah I can’t wait, but I don’t think Nintendo knows that
@@requiem165
You definitely did your research
Retro Studios may not be making Metroid Prime 4, but Kensuke Tanabe (the producer of the Prime trilogy) is leading the new team. It was thanks to his vision that Retro Studios managed to put together such an amazing trilogy of games! I wish the new team the best of luck!
Really? He's gonna help them? That makes it 5x better.
( P.S I love you Commonwealth realm )
WiiManElite federation force is not a bad game, it just came out on the wrong time.
WiiManElite I think you're confusing him with Yoshio Sakamoto, because I didn't find anything linking Tanabe with Other M. He did produce Federation Force, though, so I'm still a bit wary.
Federation Force was a spin-off game, and I'm pretty sure Prime 4 isn't a spin-off
Tanabe is a mixed bag. He was also in charge of Paper Mario: Sticker Star, Chibi Robo Zip Lash, Federation Force
*gunshots screams explosions*: I sleep

Heh
Black-Hearted_Cartridge *REAL SHIT?*
Prime 4 better have gyro. Think about it: get a swivel chair, go into handheld mode, and you suddenly have the most immersive Metroid game ever made. You literally look around by looking around! It's like you're holding a box looking into another dimension, and that dimension is Metroid!

Yellowpanzer wtf kind of format is that?
Yellowpanzer but those are all good
Metroid 4 > Half-Life 3
Yexel Orio Metroid 4 > all other fps games
Agree
*Metroid Prime 4
"Metroid 4" is an alternate title for Metroid Fusion. It appears in the opening sequence before the title screen.
Yexel Orio Metroid 4 is Fusion.
Not really. Half-Life 1 and 2 are considered perfect games, as same as the Portal "cousins". Prime 1 is a perfect game, but the other two...
It's simple. We thought Metroid was as dead as Mega Man because of Other M and Federation Force. And last year was Metroid's 30th anniversary. What did we get? A game that nobody wanted and a game that was a fanmade remake of Metroid 2. And what did Nintendo do with the fangame? Hire the creator? Put it out on the Wii-U to sell that dying console? Nope. The cease and desist now makes sense because they were in a spot. They couldn't just show Samus Returns because that would steal thunder from Federation Force. They couldn't just leave a fanmade remake up because it's a conflict of interest with their own remake. It was a spot and there was no way to avoid disaster. The most they could hope for was to fix everything this year. Take the hit of bad PR, and fix the company's image the following year.
They sure did fix it, though.
That's how I'm looking at the C&D, that Nintendo was making an official remake and didn't want "competition," for a lack of a better word.
a bit off on the fanmade title. AMR2 had been in development for long enough while the new, flashy remake has probably only been around for a while. Venting aside, the fanmade remake still looks holds its ground against the new remake (at least the metroid fights seem a bit better in the beginning in comparison). I also doubt that Samus Returns was even planned for prior to that awful attempt of a cash grab that Federation Force tried to be.
jay c
He never said anything about development time...
okay but nintendo did let the guy finish his project at least
I started replaying my Metroid Prime Trilogy this weekend.
Laurender same
Laurender my GameCube memory card got courrupted!😭
Taco Pants27 mine got corrupt too, but it deleted everything and now it's been good ever since... happened like in 2010
Metroid, from my perspective, is in the same position Fire Emblem was pre-Awakening. It all comes down to this.
I agree
GoldenCyclone4 I'm a huge fan of Fire Emblem, but didn't really like awakening.
Agreed it all comes down to the game and the fans
GoldenCyclone4 I think a lot of core fans are back and they will sell will. I am putting my money were my mouth is and buying Return of Samus day 1.
Where does this fit in the zelda timeline?
RIght after "Link's Crossbow Training".
Top Dawg It's after the Soul Calibur 2 split, but before Zelda CDI.
Top Dawg right after Link meets yoshi
Top Dawg Metroid Prime 4's plot:
Samus goes to different planets that have Nintendo's IP's on them (one planet has Hyrule, another the Mushroom Kingdom, etc.) and has to stop them from blowing up.
Then the meta ending has her journeying to OUR planet where she saves Nintendo who has mysteriously been trying to blow up all these planets, but in truth we're being mind controlled by some alien she has to defeat.😉
PopstarChamp but it can't be a metroid game....without a escape sequence......Unless it's that good, then nobody would mind, maybe.
Binge watching all of Arlos metroid videos after the reveal of dread 😂
I just wanted to tell you that the thumbnail of the 4 coming down from the heavens with Metroids acting as angels is absolutely fantastic.
The video thumbnail reminded me of Sesame Street.
Arlo: "And this video was brought to you by the number 4!"
ThatGuyWithTheTripod Arlo kinda looks like a nose-less Grover
"that's FOUR! FOUR main Metroid Prime! Ah ah ah..."
Long-time fans know. That 4 appearing was the hypest part of E3. They even delivered 2D Metroid for those nonplussed with Prime.
What we're all still desperately waiting on for the switch:
-Our goddamn virtual console
-That smash bros game (I NEEDS IT)
-Something like Wii Sports for the switch (give me bowling, sword fighting, dogfighting and darts, and you will not see of me again... and look, Arms is good n all, but it's only boxing. I want moar.)
On the plus side, they officially won E3 and I'm satisfied enough with the games they released to last me over a year.
Doesn't mean I still wants more
OlliesRealm
It took more than two years for Smash 4 to come to the Wii U. Be patient.
I'd smash
English translation of Pokemon TCG 2 for the GBC.
Because I thought Prime 4 would never happen...
Smash isn't coming to 2019/2020
Don't forget Super Mario Galaxy 3!
I admit it, I screamed and ran around the house as soon as I saw it.
So did Arlo
Me too
SAAAAAAAME
Omg saaaame
I was at school so that was a... fun talk with the teacher afterwards.
If it's crazy for us Nintendo nerds to go insane over a logo,
Don't sports nerds do that too?
It's just a nerd thing in general. Everyone went crazy when the DuckTales reboot was announced even though it was just a logo shown.
Nob Gob | Bananas are berries.
Not So Epick From Miiverse you also have to take into account that some people knew who was making it. creator of powerpuff girls and wander over yonder.
Thanks for summing this up so perfectly, Arlo. I've seen people confused about why everyone's so excited about just a title screen for a game we won't get for a year or two. Now whenever anyone is confused or even cynical, this is what I'll show them.
As for Retro Studios, though, most of their talent that worked on Prime has left over the past 10 years. The company is not what it once was. Hence, I'm not concerned about them not making it and neither should anyone else, because if they did, it would be practically by a new development team anyways. But Kensuke Tanabe, the producer on every single Prime game, is working on this one as well, so it does have some traditional direction.
I think that the controls are going to be like Breath of the Wild's aiming (and Splatoon's, I think, but I haven't played it myself so I don't know) where gyro aiming is for precision and the right stick is for broad movements. With or without lockon, I don't know.
I'm pretty sure that the Phazon arc is over, since it was literally ended in Corruption, but the story is most likely going to involve Sylux. As for the Prime "universe," I think what was meant was that the Prime games are pretty disconnected from the other titles, as opposed to Fusion and Other M which piggyback on Super Metroid a lot. Also, it's clear that "Prime" denotes a brand in terms of gameplay and aesthetic that's distinct from the other games (Metroid PRIME: Federation Force has little in common with the 2D games at all).
Sakamoto saying that players didn't like Other M because of a female lead is apparently sourced in a satire article and isn't what he actually said: www.reddit.com/r/Metroid/comments/67p19a/sakamoto_never_blamed_samus_gender_for_other_ms/
DelanoSeven Yeah, it's just an unfortunate consequence of titling that many franchises run into when they're not planned out in advance. Halo, Metal Gear, and Resident Evil are some franchises off the top of my head whose titles have little to do with many of their later entries.
Diem So true. As much as I adore the Prime Trilogy, I want the Phazon arc to be over. By all means, bring back the Prime gameplay, but focus on a different story. I've been waiting 15 years for a continuation of Fusion's story. But I highly doubt that'll happen anytime soon, if ever. But, really, this is all just nitpicking. At the end of the day, we're getting 2 new Metroid games, and that makes me ecstatic. As long as the games are good, I'm happy.
I do not play Metroid, but I do hope it does well. If they want 4 to sell they need to make sure of a few things though (opinion).
1.It has to be released with nothing to overshadow it, aka don't release it when another more popular franchise is about to.
2.They have to somehow make it so Veterans and Newcomers of the series can enjoy the game, in other words, a newbie doesn't have to play the other three to enjoy 4.
Not trying to be a downer of an amazing series, but there is a lot on the line for this game and I hope for the best.
Mark Guyton As a fan of the Metroid series, I strongly recommend you to take up either Super Metroid (you can emulate it with a lo-fi computer, it is considered great and is really accesible) or Metroid Prime 1 (you can play it on GC on Wii and it made me fall in love with the saga).
Definitely check them out if you like exploration-based games.
Mark Guyton
They need to market it well
This actually describes my hopes for Pikmin 4.
I bet you're gonna fight a corrupted Sylux in Prime 4 since his ship was in the secret ending of MP3
Shockwing And he appeared at the end of Federation Force.
Time to bust out the good old Analysis Machine to see what this logo's hiding...
Freaking out isn't cutting it.
Jett Spitzer I have moved past the current plain of existence and can see time in all directions. All due to metroid prime 4.
Would you say you have achieved... PRIME. (Props if you get the reference!)
Keegan Sanders lmao!!
subbed, I want all information relayed through puppets from now on
2D and 3D metroid huh?
*flashback*
sonic mania and sonic forces
Both companies are doing THE SAME THING. (Nintendo and sega)
Metroid actually draws alot of parralels to sonic. Not much, but you can see the connections. (The history of the games, and the general consensus, not the actual games themselves)
also both companies are the same company these days, i think releasing a nostagia bomb and a new game at the same time is a really good move anyway, caters to a bigger market
Veronica Trigueros metroid prime is strictly 3D where as forces is a mix
Mania was okay. Forces is dog shit.
*_When people complain of no smash i wanna die ;-;_*
Weege220/YTB go back to switchforce
Harry Hodge *Thats a first, people usually say "Go back to GamexPlain" 😏*
Weege220/YTB and Animal Crossing. Nintendo is trying to please fans people!
Weege220/YTB only non-smash fans could say that but oh well, I play smash on the Wii U anyways and I'm completely satisfied with it. I prefer them taking time to polish the game and releasing a good smash than a disappointing one (which Idk what has to be done for smash to be disappointing)
Weege220/YTB "Go back to GameXplain."
"Screeblegloobleshmuh."
-Arlo 2017
Yeah but solid snake
Can we talk about how the Omega Metroid looks like a Xenomorph?
That is the point. Metroid draws heavily from the Alien franchise (Ridley named after Ridley Scott, Samus based off of Ripley.)
*Whispers softly* Mother 3....:(
I tried it on emulator and the combo system and its impossible so i needs it on switch
Be careful Arlo, you get too excited and you might go blind.
Alleosus Squirt To be honest I really hate this title, I mean wtf is just a freakin title we don't know gameplay, we don't know who's making the game, and more important we don't have anything new I mean wtf. People can play the prime trilogy on the wii and Wii U, and the first two on the GameCube I mean those games are still playable and stand still to this day, why does everyone wants more. I hate this mentality of people wanting what we already have instead of something new, does people even know that what make the trilogy a masterpiece was that it was a whole new idea for the metroid saga??
Emilio Felix For me it's the same as reading an excellent book or movie series. when you read the last one that's made you have a two sided feeling to it. on one end you want more you want to see more of the amazing universe you've come to know and love so much.On the other hand however you don't want a new one to ruin what made the older ones great or even possibly ruin the entire series for some people (mass effect I'm looking at you). I've played all the prime games at least 10 times each, and while I am sceptical of them ruining such a beloved series for me I am hoping that this one is another masterpiece like the rest.
Well to be fair Nintendo even can revolutionize the prime saga, still the only thing that I can relate this to the Prime saga is the name and thats it. All the people who worked on Retro studio and the Prime trilogy they already left, the director of the Prime trilogy made Recore and we all know how that went, Retro studios aren't even doing the game, I mean for what can say I expect absolutely nothing.
"we should still be using boardgames and tools from 1000 yeras ago, why everyone wants to make new things and experiences?????"- you
wtf??
This is how I first reacted to Arlos Switch logo😂
WiiManElite haha we will see😂
Hi Arlo, I just ordered my first metroid game (zero mission btw) and I've been playing for 3 Hours Straight while watching your metroid videos.
Arlo, you are seriously my favorite UA-camr out there. I loved how you started and ended the video. I also loved the random dancing you did at the end of one of your other videos. Keep it up!
While I am not a Metroid fan, I was still really happy when the games were announced because it made me glad for the Metroid fans since they FINALLY got what they wanted
Never been a Metroid fan since I'm too young to have bought the older games, but this makes me feel like I could get into it in the future.
Jam Usagi All of 2D games are on Virtual console actually and the Prime Trilogy compilation is on the WiiU Eshop, although Super Metroid isn't for original 3ds and Fusion and Zero Mission are WiiU only (although fusion was part of the 3ds embassador prpgram way back when so if you can get your hands on an embassador system you can play it on there). Also, it should be noted that since Prime 1&2 came out on the GameCube the control scheme is different fron thd original.
What if Samus Returns retcons events of Metroid II to fit events of the Prime trilogy, Like how Zero Mission retold the first game in a new way.
@giorgioskb: There is a better word for that: Main-series.
@WiiManElite: Not really. It's been confirmed that the Wrecked Ship and the Space Pirate Mothership are two different entities. In fact, there are three things supporting this fact:
The first thing is that there is a corridor between the Mothership and the Chozo Ruins. It extends further below in Crateria. This is especially noticable in which the tileset doesn't match up with the rest of the Mothership including the hatch (they look). Moreover, the tileset resemble more of Super's Wrecked Ship (even the default walls are green, contrasting the purple and blue Mothership).
The second thing is the framework in Crateria. These look like the ones from the Wrecked Ship from Super Metroid. Keep in mind that when you enter Crateria, the Mothership hasn't even landed yet (it only does this officially after you have entered Ridley's lair and you have to enter Crateria to enter his area).
Last, but not least, check out the layout between the Crateria lake and the corridor between Crateria and Chozodia (bottom entrance): The lake is basically the cavern version of Super's Crateria Lake (there is even the item in the bottom left corner and the enemies are the same) and if you do some graphical changes in the bottom Crateria-Chozodio-connection and add treadmills on the ground, you get the first room in Super's Wrecked Ship.
In what way does it not already fit?
And Zero Mission really just added inconsequential fluff; it didn't change established events.
...You do know Other M takes place AFTER Metroid II, right?
While I'm not justifying the..interesting...change to what little of Samus' personality we had at the time, I have one complaint to your first post, in that, considering that the Last Metroid SAVED SAMUS' LIFE, AT LEAST TWICE (technically once at the time because Other M came before Fusion) it'd be kind of hard to just be all like "K thnx for saving me." That just seems...really freaking weird to me, although I do think she focused a bit too much on it.
The main point I'm getting at here is that I don't think she obsessed over the Last Metroid because of "female motherly instincts", but instead because the damn thing saved her life, which in of itself is an immense powerful act.
I randomly came across this video and while I was hesitant at first because it's hosted by a puppet...but I was won over. Excellent talking points and comparisons. I'd love to see a video detailing the long and complicated history of the Metroid series. Keep up the great vids.
Regarding that comment from other m's producer. It was a fake article. Please be careful about spreading misinformation like this.
Here's something that may get some fans excited for Samus Returns. While Mercury Studios is working on the game, Sakamoto also brought on board level designers from Super Metroid to help remake the levels. As well as incorporating Prime music into the game. And let's be honest, Sakamoto may have messed up with Other M, but he's darn good at making 2D Metroid. And as for Metroid Prime 4, according to the fact sheet, while there is a new, younger studio working on it, they've brought in board the original director of the Prime trilogy to guide them in the right direction. It's also stated that this game will be returning to the series isolated routes. Meaning it'll most likely be just Samus. As well, they stated they're planning on tying up the previous 3 games in the series with this game, while taking it in a new direction. So I don't know about you, but all of this makes me pretty excited.
I need to keep my hype down. I've been doing well so far, but I don't know if it'll stay that way.
AshXXMayftw Hopefully Prime 4 is the start of a new Prime trilogy.
If the story is more fleshed out instead of so passive, I'd be in heaven. Being isolated is one thing, but having to read loads and loads of scattered text just doesn't engage me enough. It's definitely hard to feel immersed or invested in the story when there's almost none to be had. Fortunately, the gameplay has made up for that, so I still love it to death, but I REALLY want it to be more alive and at the forefront.
Voice acting is great and all too, as long as it's not some random dudes off the street reading cheesy one-liners. Really just want Nintendo to go all-in on this so we can see it's true potential.
On the subject of Samus Returns and Sakamoto, I think he's only overseeing things and hopefully will not have the degree of control he did in Other M. With it being a remake of Metroid 2 I don't see a lousy, terrible fanfic-tier plot being shoehorned in. And surely Sakamoto is aware of the criticisms with Other M and understands not to repeat those decisions if Samus Returns wants to be good.
There's really not much you can do to a remake with the story. Maybe just add a few things to explain locations and events in the other games, but they won't add cutscenes everywhere.
I remember during the stream that he said there will be secrets of the Chozo to uncover in this remake. What exactly he means we're not sure. But it might be added backstory elements similar to how Zero Mission referenced Samus's backstory a tiny bit.
Or they could break the entire timeline even further to make it more compatible with the dumspter fire aka Metroid Other M
Fantastic job Arlo - you perfectly encapsulated how I feel about the situation and why I am simultaneously content and excited by a simple logo like this.
Your videos are so awesome man, they give me goosbumps everytime I watch them, keep it up
Two arlo videos in one day?!?!
AM I DREAMING.
ikr
1. That thing that Arlo heard about Prime not being canon was something Sakamoto said, and he's the guy who wrote Other M and produced Metroid 1, Super, and Fusion. I read somewhere that the reason he said it wasn't canon is he's so egotistical that he can't accept the popularity of the Prime games and thinks what he made is superior and so he said everything without the title "Prime" in it isn't canon, and that Other M is canon.
2. I don't think Arlo has been keeping up with anything relating to Metroid in the past two years (or he didn't read my long comment in a previous video about why I thought there would be two Metroids at E3 but that's understandable). Back in 2015, Tanabe confirmed that Sylux was the one chasing Samus in the secret ending of MP3 and that he wanted to explore the relationship between Sylux and Samus. The secret ending to Federation Force hints at Sylux stealing a Metroid from the Federation, so it's very clear that the antagonist of MP4 will be Sylux, especially when you consider Tanabe is overseeing the production of MP4.
TLDR; Sakamoto said Prime wasn't canon but might retract that statement, and Sylux is the main antagonist of MP4.
Phrygisian I thought what he had said was that the prime games and the traditional games were in two separate universes or "canons".
IrkenInvader722 Kind of? Google "Sakamoto Metroid Prime Canon," he says that he considers them "alternative" to the other Metroid titles, but says they aren't canon with the Metroid games he worked on, so technically Prime was declared on-canon to the rest of the series. Now I think he might retract that statement, but he has nothing to do with MP4.
Oh you can bet your ass prime is canon. Look for the actual description nintendo has put over Prime 4. It states that prime 4 ties the prime series with the mainline.
Artorias of the Abyss Again, this was something Sakamoto said BEFORE Other M and I have said multiple times that he would retract that statement. Arlo mentioned that statement so I was explaining it.
"Don't like playing as girls". Yeah, is that why everyone freaked out when Samus wasn't in Federation Force? Maybe they didn't like that you turned a fierce stern bounty hunter into a meek, frightened newbie. Samus has always been a female character, and nobody ever asked for it to be any different. The way she acted in Other M was out of character AND more like a female stereotype. If people want strong female protagonists that defy the stereotypes, then other metroid games did way better
No. You can't say Samus can possibly be remotely mentally stable either though. Keep in mind her whole family and everything she knew ended up dead. She has PTSD, she can't always be strong and stoic. That does _not_ mean the way she was portrayed in Other M was okay though.
It would be nice if they gave Samus a nice balance between anxious and stoic, by making her occasionally have PTSD triggers or something.
+Lady Wanderer Wait, the Manga is cannon?
PTSD can manifest in many different ways not just fear, can can also appear in other forms: like extreme violence, a tendency to latch upon thing that show you love that sort of thing
((And don't say i don't know what I'm talking i suffer from PTSD))
Also that quote was fucking fake
7:30 Actually, Sakamoto never said that the Metroid Prime games are in an alternate universe; he just said that their events were more of a self-contained story arc that didn’t affect the story arc of the 2D games. Which is true enough, but the Prime games and 2D games DEFINITELY exist in the same canon.
Came here not to watcht the video, which I'll do later, but to tell you Arlo that I love your perspective on things, your opinions are very well argumented and your videos are awesome. Big hugs from a Brazilian fan!
yeah, but where is metroid go?
Metroid: Global Offensive?
Pokemon GO 2: The Polls
thank you so much for the cc, whoever wrote them
Okay, one thing. The video was great.
But the character you use to talk with I just love.
I mean... I've never seen a puppet used as a character before.
It's always a real person, or animated one.
And that voice!
I just love this to bits.
screeblegloobleshmuh
Screebleglooblesh.
Smuh
whats the next, "Quit your bitchin' " game. My guess is either Mother or FZero
Queen Agnes Mother 3 HD on the switch would be brilliant tho
Queen Agnes that didn't stop them with kirby or smash. Both were meant to be just one game.
scofield117 Wouldn't a earthbound or zero remake make more sense?
The Manzilla Show Earthbound remake or F zero
Was gonna say that, actually, the difficulty spike near the end, or in general, could really use some balancing, and it'd be cool if they could incorporate all of the four characters to be playable, like twitch the story of it a little.
Hey Arlo, Ginnifer Goodwin will be motion captured and voicing Samus Aran in Metroid Prime 4, it's so great about it
Hey Arlo. I just want to say thanks for helping me get into the metroid series. I recently started playing super metroid and metroid prime 1 and they're really great games. I probably never would have played them if not for you, so thanks my guy.
People who never played a Metroid game before. Start with Super Metroid.
Cedars I started with the original on wii u vc. I didn't really like it, being an n64 kid. My friend kept telling me to try Prime 1. I eventually listened and loved it! I have been a huge fan ever since. I think new players should start with Super or Prime 1, depending on what kind of gamer you are.
If they want to play the series chronologically then they should start with Zero Mission
To be honest, I feel like Zero Mission is a good contender for the best in the series, and the best to start with. It controls amazingly, the level design is great, it has an optional hand-holding system that tells you where to go next if you're new, but if you know the game, you don't have to follow it at all, hell you can just avoid the statues that give it to you and not get any pointers aside from the first one. You can also sequence break the shit out of it, you can go fight Ridley with nothing but the ice beam, an energy tank, and a few missiles if you know the map well enough. It's also a vastly improved version of the original, and it's where Zero Suit Samus originated.
Retro Hero 276 Definitely. I respect what the original did for gaming, but it feels tremendously outdated at this point.
Cedars I started with zero mission, reading a chapter of the manga between levels. It kinda felt like the game had flashback cutscenes, and where the end of the game had a tie in to the manga, it felt like the way it was supposed to be played. I am playing in chronological order. Finished metroid prime 3 a few months ago. was going to go through am2r next, now I wanna play federation force and then samus returns instead.
I know I'm probably a weirdo for considering Corruption my favorite of the trilogy, but I loved IR aiming so much that it'd be really hard for me to go back to the old GCN set-up (though I think it still works for the first two games, which were entirely designed around that control scheme) or even the traditional twin-stick route.
RevolverLink Corruption was my favorite as well
RevolverLink the Wii rerelease of the trilogy allows for IR aiming in the 1st two games
The simple solution is they offer both control schemes.
Maybe use the right stick for free aim when using traditional controls if there are any puzzles that require it.
I much prefer the GameCube setup.
RevolverLink Its a great game.
Arlo is a great and entertaining channel! Keep up the great work! Is anybody else getting a Ridley vibe form the new logo for Prime 4?
So many new Arlo videos! This is Paradise!
I love how frequent you're uploading, dude! You're the best blue guy I know!
I have one word to sum up how I feel right now. And it's...
YEAH BUT SOLID SNAKE
Vezerlo Productions but that isn't one word!
It just became a word, 4 words in 1.
Vezerlo Productions ....did you just spoil the brawl cast...
...we Arlo fans really need a new default thing to quote in the comments.
You aint getting more, thats the sad truth. Papa Konami locked that franchise up in the basement.
Hey arlo, i love your videos!! i love your style. keep up the good work!
Arlo, your pure love of video games and giddiness to simply talk about them is amazing. Never change
Arlo, u always make quality content, good enough for me to never skip a video, and i hope u always keep going, thank u.
Just hearing how excited you are for this game is enough to make me happy haha
Lol I immediately subscribed after this video, I really can't wait for both of them to come out, I haven't really played through the old days games on the game boy so I'm looking forward to this
Awesome vid arlo! Im super excited for the metroid games!
I'm super not worried about Samus Returns.Sakamoto directed all of the 2d metroid games except Metroid 2. That means he directed Super Metroid. Sure other m sort of kinda sucked maybe a lot, but Sakamoto is king of 2d metroid. Having him be the producer is the best move.
New fans: Wow it's nice to see that it's back, but it's just a logo
Old fan: SHRNEUAMDMRKEOAKSMDKRPEJAKD TAKE MY MONEY
Irene Dougherty I like Nintendo too.
I only played Other M, Hunters and currently playing Prime 1. I saw the logo slowly revealing and almost cried with excitement and laughter.
Yeah, I've watched the MP4 logo about 30 times. I think I'll watch it again after this.
Glad to see how far your channel has come.
Arlo talk (why we're all freaking out over a video)
hi arlo i love your videos and cant wait for metroid prime 4!!!
I'm definitely hyped up from the logo. Although, tbh, I've never played Metroid before. I didn't know anything about the game growing up (besides from Smash bros.) and only learned about it from vocal fans on the internet.
I do want to give the game series a try though. I want these two games to be a success and hopefully a good representation of the game series. I do hope that I'll be able to play Prime 4 despite not knowing anything about the story though. Heck, a remake of the trilogy would be awesome too. I'll be patient about that lol.
If you have a Wii U, you can buy Metroid Prime Trilogy for 20 bucks.
If you have a Wii U, you could get the trilogy in the eShop
I would first get into the original games, as they're less complicated, starting with Zero Mission, the first game's remake. The Prime series takes place between Metroid 1 and 2. And if they want to push VR on the Switch (as it seems a possibility in the future), a Metroid Prime Trilogy HD would probably do wonders.
Sadly, I don't have any room for it :c
ArtMasterFrylock I've only played Super recently, and I can say with certainty that the game's reputation is warranted. I recommend you check that gane out down the line. It is best played after 1 however, as it plays with your espectations spetacularly.
Three years later and all we have is only the teaser
*M Y B E D I S C O L D*
WaPepe Buy an electric blanket! They work great!
Link the Swellow thx m8
lmao "general...space glowiness"
Me during Metroid Prime 4 announcement= oh, that's surprising
Me during Kirby Star Allies announcement= dead on the floor from excitement
I finally remembered to subscribe to this channel just now!
Theory!
What if Samus Returns ends with a sneak of the next 3DS Metroid game, a remake of Super Metroid!
Artheros5 I don't much think Super needs to be remade. Maybe just a graphical update, but even then it seems unnecessary. A sequel to Fusion is something I would want more. Because, you know, that would progress the story past it's furthest point. Unless Prime 4 is doing that?
My thought is that, since Metroid: Return of Samus Leads directly into Super Metroid Story wise. I think it would be awesome!
Spoilers:
BABY METROID!
Artheros5 Yeah, it would make sense and would be cool. Just having wishful thinking lol. Maybe they could reference the Prime trilogy in it too, like AM2R did, or maybe it will specifically reference Prime 4
Artheros5 don't ask for too much, mate. this is enough, don't push for more.
There have been only 4 Zelda remakes so far, Twilight Princess HD, Wind Waker HD, Ocarina of Time 3D, and Majora's Mask 3D. All theydid was update the graphics a bit, and add 1 Amiibo. They were more like re-releases than remakes.
I swear I haven't seen Arlo blink since the Metroid Prime 4 announcement! ;)
10:31 JUST SMACK IT 😂 i laughed way too hard right there
Videos like this are why I subscribed to this channel. Especially the ending, haha~
does Nintendo still care about F-zero and golden sun? please tell me they do.
I H Polymar!! The did make that one racing game on switch so it might be the federation force of the switch
I H Polymar!! F-zero is confirmed to not have a sequel...
I H Polymar!! Golden Sun is all up to Camelot. We'll see if they are willing to continue the series or want to make another bland Mario sports game
wuss poppin jimbo
Billythese _ aye, 🅱
Billythese _ hey 🅱️eter
A rare normalfag meme that has meaning.
holy crap follow for a free IPhone 5
Billythese _ NIGGA I SAID understandable have a nice day
your content just gets better and better, man
Excellent analysis. On point for everything.
On a side note, I wish I could get a copy of the European Special Edition of Samus Returns!
What if Retro IS working on Metroid Prime?... what if they are making an HD port of the first trilogy... specifically for the Switch.
Jeff Cross That would just be waste of money. Did you even know that Metroid prime games sold so bad in Japan that they did not release Metroid prime trilogy on wii because of that?
ShadowFalconPictures but the renewed interest in Metroid would make many want to replay the trilogy... I personally would think it makes sense to put an HD remastered version on the switch before Prime 4 is released to keep up the hype... maybe next year?
actually, it was not just because japan likes RPGs and or anime... its because metroid is "dark" dark games just don't sell well in japan (look at the Castlevania series)... anyway, don't take what I say as gospel, this is just what I have noticed, and not actual fact...
well if prime 4 doesnt come out for another 2-3 years, they could gives us HD trilogy while we wait like twilight princess HD while we waited for BOTW
Jordan yeah, exactly... that was my though... while we wait for Prime 4 we get an HD remaster XD
Nintendo has always released Metroid games at awkward times that stunt the game's sales. Whether it be far too late in a console's cycle like Super and Other M, or lack of hype and marketing like Zero Mission of Prime 2, or straight up going against the series roots like Hunters or Other M again. The only two games that were strongly marketed and released at great times were Prime and Prime 3 which (shock) actually sold quite well. Prime was fighting against an underperforming Gamecube and still pulled it off so I'm glad to see Nintendo put effort in marketing these games which arguably is its strongest franchise from a critical point of view
TheRealMattReal and fusion sold well to
Never really gotten into this series before, but because everyone is so excited I can't help but be a little excited myself. Hopefully we get more information on the game as we get closer to release, and hopefully it won't take 3 years haha. Anyway I'm looking forward to it.
Wow I subbed in one vid and this is the second I watch and instantly got me to like in a very short time and the videos seem solid
I LOVE YOU SO MUCH!!!
haha Jonathan, Metroid Dread is coming out this year and MP4 still has no gameplay footage to speak of whatsoever...
I'm so excited for Samus Returns! Hands-on impressions have been so positive.
I thought you would lay down again. You know - maybe all you're organs will simultaneously fail and you'll have to let Death play your switch again.
