I thought the empath crying for Drax was a touching moment. Normally, empaths usually handle sadness and tell the audience they are sad lol. He must be reeeally sad inside.
That was one of the best moments of character development for Drax. Showing how he may seem stoic, and kind of odd, but inside, he has deep and emotional wounds of his loss of his family. All in about a 10 second moment with her touching him and instantly bursting into tears. Loved it.
hellsong23 this movie did an amazing job showing the characters relationship with each other and showing each character individually when Star Lord is like but he's my family and Gamora was like but I thought you already had your family I was like oh my God
As a testament to how awesome this movie was, my wife DID die from pancreatic cancer just a week before this came out and I still enjoyed it. Gotta admit - there are points where I was triggered but my circumstances shouldn't detract from my thoughts of the movie and she wanted me to see it for the both of us. She loved all the marvel movies. Guardians was her favourite by far. As time went on she was less and less in the mood for movies and didn't see anything from civil war onwards, but she was eager to see Guardians 2. We kept making goals of "make it to this trip, or that event and the one she missed out on was making it to see Guardians 2. I'd even contacted the cinema to see if there was a way to get an advanced screening but it wasn't to be. My kids loved the first one - we just skipped forward till after he was beamed up, but it's going to be hard to skip those parts in this one so will have to delay them seeing it for a few years unfortunately. Will probably go and see it again soon for a re-watch though.
Paul Robinson my sincere condolences my friend. I was very triggered by the first one due to similar circumstances between my mother and myself and actually went in 5 minutes late the next three times I saw it because of that scene. I can't say you ever get over it you just learn how to get through it in a better way, and I guess movies can be a part of the healing. Best wishes pal.
There were a lot of tears in our theater at the end. That funeral scene was incredibly touching. I'm kind of tearing up right now just thinking about it.
tbh i thought peter quill was going to use his cool space helmet to survive the vacuum of space like he did in the first movie, but he never used it although he used it many times in the fight right before.
Doom which was stupid because it was digital/holographic every time he's used it except when it needed to get "broken" for plot reasons. HUGE pothole which made the death meaningless.
Doom His dead was well done. It also showed the audience that James Gunn isn't scared to kill off an important character. I also liked that he didn't end the movie with a joke, everyone left the theater with there hearts a little broken.
I'm really bummed out by the loss of Michael Rooker's character. I've loved him since "Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer". He's one of the most criminally under rated actor working today. I hope he's still on contract with Disney/Marvel so he could perhaps show up in a Star Wars film or maybe play a different character in a Marvel film but he's got so much prosthetic make-up on that he's unrecognizable. Here's to having unreasonable dreams...
James Gunn was going to bring Nova in the Guardians of the Galaxy. But he didnt want to have two human heroes in the same team. I do hope to see him the future as well though!
They referenced their own issue of being a "middle" story when Quill and Gomora are arguing about having an unspoken thing and Peter says that Cheers had to delay the romance and meaning so that the episodes could continue to build the tension and flirt, because once the romance is solidified the story arc is over. It's a meta reference to their own movie being a tension builder and not a completer.
my favorite moment in the movie and one brilliant piece of acting is when normally totally cool and goofy Peter Quill says "you killed my mother" to Ego full and Hatred and anger for his Dad. so damn good. also I totally agree that Rooker should get an oscar nom as best supporting actor for this! RIP YONDU
IH8YH I love his reaction to when Ego says "sorry I had to put that tumor in her brain" and everything stops for peter and he just starts firing his gun so many times into Ego not even giving a shit what he said before about him being his father or anything all he had to say was that he killed his mom and he flipped the switch so quick.
IH8YH They needed that moment where ego says he gave her cancer because he was so likeable but the moment he says it you just go "oh kill the Fother Mucker."
One of my favorite scenes in the first movie was when Quill yells at the guy in the prison listening to his Walkman and he says "Hooked on a Feeling, Blue Swede! That song belongs to me!" Hurts my heart man. So do Rocket's emotional scenes in the first and second movies.
Just imagine the comedy gold when they meet the Avengers. Captain America: "watch your language" Drax: "how can you watch a language? that is impossible"
While I love this movie, The Winter Soldier is still the best 2nd movie. It's actually the best MCU movie. But, GotG Vol 2 soundtrack is one of the best soundtracks - of any movie ever (along with Almost Famous and A Knight's Tale).
Julie Harden it's pretty good but let's not get hysterical. They knew they couldn't talk volume 1 and it doesn't compare to those other movies I think most would agree.
I did not love Vol. 2 as much as Vol. 1, but I still loved it. The reason why I still love it is because the shit has fucking heart. It has a soul. Drax was a dick! But when he's sitting there with Mantis, and he's talking about his family, and she touches him and he just starts crying. It's like damn, he is really hurting inside. And when they're about to leave Ego, and Peter isn't there, and he's asking where is Peter, for all the shit he talks he has made a connection with this group of individuals. Then when you see how he holds Baby Groot at the end, you can see that he was a dad.
Yeah I dunno Doc, I mean like, I think we just went like, back...back in time or something...man. This is some serious shit right here Doc, I mean...holy shit...
I did as well. I disagreed with Kevin and Mark's sentiment, I think this one had more meat and interesting dynamics going on than the first movie. First movie was a good set up, this one was a good film.
Jordan McMichael I did too. I love the character growth and deeper development of everyone's relationships, especially Yondu. The scenery was also far more beautiful and interesting. and finally I am a big Kurt Russell fan, and his part in this movie made me happy.
When Rocket set up the Ravager ship to take out the Sovereign ships with the 360 degree laser shots, I immediately thought of "The Last Starfighter." Anyone else?
Freek: there's really no need to be such a dick. I'm guessing you're just some kid. And if you're an adult, then wow. I'm glad someone else brought up the sound issue because I was wondering if it was just how the video loaded on my end. I'm also guessing it's because of where they shot the video this time.
Yondu's Southern "Country Boy" Accent is the best thing they could have done with that character and Michael Rooker's delivery is what sells it the first film and makes it work in Vol 2. This is definitely Yondu's movie and it works.
Listening to the two of you describe this movie lays out exactly why 1 is a filmmaker and the other is a critic. Imagination is key here and one can find wrong in a bowl of Joy and the other can figure out a way to make great use of a bowl of poop.
Sorry, buddy. I looked around all over for ya, but couldn't find that exact design. There's a very similar one on Red Bubble, but it doesn't have a detailed face. There's a chance that it's a Ript Apparel shirt, but they don't have a search feature. Might wanna try to browse through the selection over there. I tried!
the movie is perfect imo. 10/10... i loved it. gotta say imo because you offend a lot of people for some reason. marvel have really gotten a lot of haters recently. i dont get it.
I'm glad that they finally explained Nebula to me. Having not read the comics, I didn't know the story about how or why she was half cybernetics yet was a "sister" to Gamora, so this was some nice filler. That said, I loved it! It was an amazing film that I felt exceeded (maybe just barely) the first movie, which I thought impossible. Thumbs up!
Yes, but it was paced like a serial killer, horror type movie. It had a gloomy atmosphere and feel. T2 just went, here's our balls and they RULE. Same with Alien and Aliens. Nothing wrong with either, just two VERY different movies that somehow matched their predecessors. Very hard to do with a sequel, though lately, sequels have been upping their originals. TDK, Capt. America: Winter Soldier, etc.
Well...Arnold was saying "here's my balls and they rule" throwing hillbillies out of a phone booth, throwing a guy through a wall, shotgun killing the gunshop owner, owning an entire police station, etc. That stuff is BAD ASS and some of it is even hilarious (because, Arnold...). The real difference is T2 was big and had groundbreaking (SFX). I will also say it made Arnold kid friendly. For a long time T2 was my fav movie but not after I finally saw T1.
T2 also kept that great narrative and storytelling from the first. People forget how deep T2 really is amongst its peers of action movies. SFX are still ahead of most films today.
I really loved the connection between getting his first two "soundtracks" from his mom and being able to have the next one be from his dad (Yondu). Its a touching idea that we carry parts of our parents with us even after they are gone.
Baby Groot Opening Credits sequence? Legit...my favorite sequence in ANY of these Marvel Movies. Agree the Star Lord version was unexpected and definitely showed the tone, this one just made me happy. I had the biggest smile on my face and just felt good.
Guardians of the Galaxy (both films) did for me what the "Back to the Future" trilogy did long ago. Few films of this comedic nature are so well-rounded in terms of cadence, story arch, visuals, music and talent; simply put, you just don't want to get off once you take the ride...I love it!!
I think I realized Yondu was SPOILERS going to die was when he was talking to Rocket about them being alike. I was like "Oh, this is Yondu's redemption, he has to die. Fuck."
Wowee Gee Weez Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2 is Awesome, Amazing and Outstanding.Great story, Great humour and Great Visual EFX. What a ride!!! James Gunn killed it.Can't wait for the Guardians Of The Galaxy to team up with the Avengers! What a great Summer (It's Summer In America before you SAcans crucify me) Movie!!!It had soo many hearfelt emotional moments!!It's been a minute since I felt soo good after a movie!
I really have to agree with Kevin. In a movie that is literally knitted together from a seemingly endless array of amazing moments, the one moment that steals it all... "I'm Mary Poppins, y'all!" I lost it. And like Mark, I also got a huge kick out of Russell's goofy smile and hair.
Myself and the others in the theater laughed "out loud" more than I remember doing in Vol 1. And I freaking love Vol 1!!! Plus Vol 2 just lingers in the mind for a while after seeing it. Which Vol 1 did for me as well. So Great movie in my opinion.
Quick correction on what Marc said about Mantis: The character is German / Vietnamese (in the books), though the actress Pom Klementieff is French (tough did not live in France for most of her childhood) with a French-Russian father and Korean mother.
I literally check my UA-cam several times everyday just waiting for you both to post even though I have the notifications on 😬 but keep up the awesomeness gents and mr Kevin smith, I fucking love your movies man first movie I can recall from my childhood is and always will be clerks fucking rad man
I'm glad I watched it twice cause I was a tad underwhelmed the first time even tho I really enjoyed it but the second time man everything clicked with me. So much heart
Another cool review with a lot a heart. I was surprised however that you didn't mention the big reveal of Ego's plan with the skulls and depictions of all the women he used across the galaxy to perpetuate it. That scene nailed me to my seat. In any case, I loved the flick and as always, enjoyed your review. Ya big Fanboy.
This movie was AWESOME! Baby Groot was hilarious, but I think I missed simple-minded, adult, badass Groot! His parts in Vol. 1 when he was kicking ass were my favorites, and we didn't get any of those in this Vol. Again I love Vol. 2, all the characters, all the comedy, all the cameos, and the story line. I think this movie would be equal with Vol. 1 if it had more raw power fighting like adult Groot's scenes. One new thing with this movie that I experienced was the Stan Lee scene. Usually I don't catch what Stan Lee is saying because I just think "Stan Lee." This time with his cameo I thought "Sta..THE WATCHERS!!!!" Great Review guys I was excited to hear what you both had to say. I now have to rob homeless people of there money to go see it again. LOL.
For me, that scene towards the end of the movie where Rocket tells the crew they have to leave Ego's Planet, is my favorite scene of the film. I dunno I just love that scene, he shoots Gamora to stop her from killing herself from saving Star-Lord, and when Drax keeps asking Rocket where's Quill? I just love it!
Just got home from my second showing.. It seems the popular thing to do(many critics and fans) is say Guardians 2 was good/great but not as good as the first. I could kinda see what they were saying, but after my second showing, NO Doubt about it to me there are many elements of Vol. 2 that are flat out better then the superb Vol. 1 . I can't choose which I like better and that's saying a Lot!
Loved this movie. The characters are intertwined and work best as a unit, like the Temple of Doom stones get brighter and stronger the closer they are together. The best Marvel UNIT so far and soooooo fun fun to watch. I laughed a lot, I was totally immersed in the action and even gave a holler of joy when Yondu escaped and then cried a little when he sacrificed himself. I haven't felt so many different emotions during one film in ages. Awesome.
Gun did some excellent character development this time around which worked SO perfectly. I was worried the humor would fall flat or feel forced but it was just plain spot on. Admittedly there were two jokes during the very grand final action set piece that didn't work as well -- one went on way too long and the other was ill placed and undermined the momentum of a great battle scene but those are quibbles. 4.5 / 5 stars.
Saw Vol1 and Vol2 as a double bill (had already seen Vol1 but did not mind watching it again). Did not leave the cinema until 2.15 am and enjoyed every single minute of it.
I thought the #family stuff was refreshing compared to the last 4 Fast and the Furious movies, but I agree with Mark that the family core isnt as compelling as the trauma core. Great discussion guys, thanks :)
I will say something nice about the movie. People (Critics What the Flick) keep saying they didn't like the soundtrack. I actually liked the soundtrack. I instantly revognized Fleetwood Mack in one scene, and it was fitting and great when they used it again in the father son fight.
1) We really needed a flashback with the mom. We needed Peter to show us how much he loved his mom, not just tell us, when that's his key motivation at the end. 2) They tried to give Yondu the Snape treatment, but we had 8 movies with Snape and that revelation scene was far stronger than the stuff with Yondu. 3) Marvel manages even be able to make a one-off villain out of a living effing planet. I like these movies, but I'm so over the villain of the week formula.
Loved Nebula. Her arc with her sister and how it progresses amounts to, "you need redemption, _I don't_." I thought that was damn daring. There is no real happy ending for those two, it's too late. That's bold. Nebula looks to me like she's 100% ready to die trying to kill Thanos. If she's going to die, I truly hope she goes like a boss. Nebula is hardcore; purple cyborg waifu af.
Just ONE of the many great things about both Guardians movies is how well they stand up to repeated viewings and how much more you pick up each time. Gunn seems to have fallen into his perfect environment with deeper meaning and emotion wrapped in some of the most gorgeous eye-candy to hit the big screen. That and his knack for matching the musical cues so perfectly and yet not always blatantly. That music in the scene with Rocket and Yondu - I could watch that rather murderous and near psychopathic over and over, chuckling every time and then realise what just happened and how subversive that scene is. I am really not so keen to see the Guardians handled by anyone else or see them rubbing up with the Avengers - but Gunn apparently has creative control of the characters sooooo maybe... Show less REPLY
I liked this better than Winter Soldier...but then again..I like the less traditional movies anyway. Winter Soldier felt very traditional to me. Not like super cliche or anything, just very standard. The twists didn't excite me or change much of anything to me...SHIELD was always sketchy so the Hydra twist didn't surprise me. With Guardians Vol.2, it was heavily foreshadowed and I kinda knew what was going to happen for most of the movie, but every beat of the movie had so much heart. The characters seemed so much more real than any of the Earth-based heroes. I have a hard time comparing the 2 Guardians movies to choose a favorite. But without a second thought I can consider Guardians my favorite set of MCU movies.
As someone who was adopted, the whole growing up not knowing, and Peters relationship with Ego just broke me. It never occurred to me that it affected me because of that though.
I loved the opening sequence. There was some amazing stuff going on in the background. And continuous surprises which wouldn't have been possible if it focused on the battle. Focusing on the battle would have been a mistake. I was impressed as hell. I have never seen a sequence like this in any movie before. Having Starlord dancing again would have been boring and a cliche. I feel like a lot of people wanted this to be a copy of Guardians of the Galaxy 1. I also feel baby groot was mined out and again- that would be wanting the same thing repeated. I felt GG2 was as good as GG1. I would give them the same rating. And if GG2 was a rehash of GG1, that would have been terribly disappointing.
MCU Top 10: 1: Captain America: Winter Soldier 2: Avengers 3: Captain America: Civil War 4: Guardians of the Galaxy 5: Iron Man 6: Ant Man 7: Doctor Strange 8: Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 9: Avengers: Age of Ultron 10: Captain America: The First Avenger
Between his words and his hands Kevin, is a Master at accurately and honestly describing fleeting observational thoughts. Since he's smart and creative, it's kind of like Space Mountain for empaths.
For all the movie sequels that claim Empire Strikes Back as their primary inspiration, Guardians Vol.2 is the first that actually matches the most daring aspect of Empire - that it's non-linear story without a clear narrative thrust. Both start with the end of an adventure and pull the heroes together in the end, but the middles are very meandery, with the main protagonist going to an isolated planet for introspective soul-searching while the other half of the family has a series of misadventures with the antagonists. Empire Strikes Back is guilty of everything Marc criticizes Guardians 2 for. :)
I loved both Guardians movies. Back in 2014, they were doing the 4D preview at Disneyland and it had me more excited for the movie. Now the sequel is out and I made it a point of going to Harkins Tempe Marketplace and watching it in the Cine Capri (look it up). May watch it a 2nd time, but try out the Harkins Camelview At Fashion Square in Scottsdale. I find it interesting how that theater plays mainstream releases alongside indie, foreign and art films.
Saw this twice this weekend. Both showings the entire theater was roaring laughing. I laughed more at this then actual comedies lol. Part 1 i adore but 2 just is on par if in some ways better. Either way both are wonderful films i can watch on repeat. From yondu to drax the entire cast of actors is what makes these films. I could spend 30 mins writing how great these are but I hope we get 10 guardians movies. And yeah it's a shame bautista or rooker won't win awards but dam they should
Definitely preferred this to the first. I LOVED the first one, but this was like Empire Strikes Back in terms of sequels! The Watchers WERE perfect!!! That just did it for me.
thursday the 4th. went to my small neighborhood theater (live in PDX, but we have smaller, non corporate theaters) for a 7pm show. most films I don't care for HD, 3D, IMAX BS; plus I don't make shit for wages, so I'm glad there's these cheap theaters that can show the movie for $7 for an adult.
Back then when i saw the first one and the scene came up where Yandu called him for the stone i knew that they had a father son relationship and that Yandu felt like his father. They dont talk like people that are just freinds or people bound by circumstances the talked like a father and a son. I love that and many things about this movies. For me Gunn made the best Marvel Movies so far, its jsut my personal opionion so dont hate me now :P. What i also really liked about that Mary Poppins scene is not only that its funny but Quill not using the oportunity to make fun of Yandu after all because knowing Quill he wouldnt have named him Mary Poppins without the initial Intention of making fun of him and i guess in that very moment we see that Quill saw more then just Yandu the guy who kidnapped him he saw his true Father and didnt want to hurt or emberass him, and give him a sence of proud he so misses from the other Ravanger Groups and even his own family who sold him. Not only did Yandu sacrificed his place amongst his Ravanger People to save Quill in the end he gave his life ;( At least thats what it seemed to me.
"He might be your father,
but he wasn't yo daddy!".
That line fucking made the movie.
Yeah he's Daddy is a child killer WOOOOO
I thought the empath crying for Drax was a touching moment. Normally, empaths usually handle sadness and tell the audience they are sad lol. He must be reeeally sad inside.

hellsong23 this movie did an amazing job showing the characters relationship with each other and showing each character individually when Star Lord is like but he's my family and Gamora was like but I thought you already had your family I was like oh my God
Agreed. Relationships are an ongoing thing, they don't just have a happy ending at the end of Vol. 1.
You all are beautiful... On the inside
As a testament to how awesome this movie was, my wife DID die from pancreatic cancer just a week before this came out and I still enjoyed it. I started bawling when Rocket told Yondu that there was only one spacesuit
tbh i thought peter quill was going to use his cool space helmet to survive the vacuum of space like he did in the first movie, but he never used it although he used it many times in the fight right before.
IIRC there is a close up shot after the helmet got smashed fighting Ego.

that Mary Poppins line was the fucking play of the game.
I'M MARY POPPINS Y'ALL
Joaq Wizard Phoenix is he cool?
Joaq Wizard Phoenix That was without a doubt the funniest line in the movie. I laughed so hard I couldn't breathe.
hahahah I laughed my ass off at that joke
so this is the new "Dormammu i´ve come to bargain" ?
Well, the actor took a selfie of himself with the Mary Poppins book, so it's definitely a thing.

John Summers What we need is a Ravagers Netflix show starring him as Yondu, showing the years he spent raising Quill. That would be so badass....
Still waiting for my boy Nova to be a guardian or in the mcu
Preferably Richard Rider, and not the new kid. The new kid is fine, but he still hasn't *earned* the name yet.
I really want Richard Rider.
James Gunn was going to bring Nova in the Guardians of the Galaxy.
But he didnt want to have two human heroes in the same team. I do hope to see him the future as well though!
Dan S yo chill

Oh! That's pretty fuckin' cool!
Man of The West
That's cool
as Kevin would say, good pull. I did not catch that as a meta reference, but you are absolutely right.
Thank you Captain Obvious, what ever would we do without you

Young Kurt Russell made the movie. Flying around world to world laying space pipe
Ok... Young Kurt Russell? I didn't see him young, but I think I missed some of the first minutes. Was he in there?
Afonso Lucas yes, in the very beginning
Yeah, Kurt Russell had the swag goin' on.
Young Kurt Russel looked like claymation in the car.

Yes! " I'm your daddy"
IH8YH They needed that moment where ego says he gave her cancer because he was so likeable but the moment he says it you just go "oh kill the Fother Mucker."
I mean I saw that coming miles away. Of course he was the one the caused the cancer.
One of my favorite scenes in the first movie was when Quill yells at the guy in the prison listening to his Walkman and he says "Hooked on a Feeling, Blue Swede! That song belongs to me!"
Hurts my heart man. So do Rocket's emotional scenes in the first and second movies.
Just imagine the comedy gold when they meet the Avengers.
Captain America: "watch your language"
Drax: "how can you watch a language? that is impossible"
But I have to admit I dont love The Winter Soldier all that much. To me it felt like something you would see in the straight to dvd bin.
While I love this movie, The Winter Soldier is still the best 2nd movie. It's actually the best MCU movie. But, GotG Vol 2 soundtrack is one of the best soundtracks - of any movie ever (along with Almost Famous and A Knight's Tale).

This movie was so damn good.
This is truly one of marvels best!
I for one can not WAIT till they meet the Avengers.
Drax is just comedy gold!
my favorite part is where Peter turns into Pac man to destroy his dad
That was just evidence that Chris Pratt is still Andy Dwyer
Your lighting has Marc phasing in and out like Morty McFly on stage.
Morty McFly?
There lived a country boy named... huh... geez, Johnny! His name was, was Johnny, B. Goode....

Victor Creed ITS METAPHORICAL!!!
Victor Creed Did you wake up in the morning and decided to call yourself TazerFace?
Victor Creed What was your second choice?
Victor Creed Scrotum hat?
Anyone else love Vol. 2 more than Vol. 1 ?
I did. idk, can't explain it, just did. very glad.
I did, only by having a better villain. I highly love both, but Kurt's Ego (lol) puts it over the top for me.
I did..That ending really hit the unexpected emotional weight from a Character I wouldn't thought
I did as well. I disagreed with Kevin and Mark's sentiment, I think this one had more meat and interesting dynamics going on than the first movie. First movie was a good set up, this one was a good film.
Jordan McMichael I surely did..the first was amazing but I enjoyed the second movie more.. especially in 3d
Jordan McMichael I did too. I love the character growth and deeper development of everyone's relationships, especially Yondu. The scenery was also far more beautiful and interesting. and finally I am a big Kurt Russell fan, and his part in this movie made me happy.

Then again, the sound in their studio-recorded videos isn't usually that great either.
So... never mind.
The audio was a little rough, you can tell they didn't have their usual set up.
It really sounds like the sound is going through some kind of compression. And even the video is kinda messed up, just weird is all.
Freek: there's really no need to be such a dick. I'm guessing you're just some kid. And if you're an adult, then wow. I'm glad someone else brought up the sound issue because I was wondering if it was just how the video loaded on my end. I'm also guessing it's because of where they shot the video this time.
The audio is making me want to stop watching, it sounds so all over the place that it's unpleasant.
I agree about GotG Vol 1 - when my kid saw it, I thought "here is his Star Wars" - not that Force Awakens crapfest
Robbie Rulz! People keep saying this but GOTG doesn't have the awe factor and intriguing universe that Star Wars has.
That Ming the Merciless shirt is hypnotizing with the red light pulsing. I have a suspicious urge to give my life for Max Von Sydow.
Evan Fowler I've looked and tried to find that exact design and I'm not able to! anybody have a link?
Sorry, buddy. I looked around all over for ya, but couldn't find that exact design. There's a very similar one on Red Bubble, but it doesn't have a detailed face. There's a chance that it's a Ript Apparel shirt, but they don't have a search feature. Might wanna try to browse through the selection over there. I tried!
the movie is perfect imo. 10/10... i loved it. gotta say imo because you offend a lot of people for some reason. marvel have really gotten a lot of haters recently. i dont get it.
COREY M as much as they make great movies there not all perfect
COREY M The higher on top you are, the more haters you have
Juls Token true but to say they can do no wrong is a dangerous way of thinking too
natanael murga yeah but who says that? Nobody. Plenty of people and fans criticize Marvel films.
And if Stan Lee is an agent of the Watchers, then Mallrats is in the MCU!!!!!
Doug Cowell, good pull! But then so is Heroes, since Stan Lee was a bus driver in season 1.
Thumbs up!
Really love Marc's insight on how the Guardians were all connected by their personal traumas..
Nebula's backstory was brutally perfect.
i loved how he got a zune at the end lmao
Review starts at 3:13 , thank me later
Amir Flappy-port thanks
The force is strong with this one
Daniel Medjedovic Agree Vader.
to the top!
Sounds better if you set it to 480p too
Shoutouts to my nipple sensitive peeps ! its great to finally have a movie representative .
We are Drax.
I really enjoyed the movie in 3D. They did a good job of finding more to do with it than long arrows.
Terminator and T2 weren't even the same style of movie. Terminator was more of a horror and T2 was more action.
T1 has a lot more action than it is given credit for when you consider its ALL action from the bar scene to the end.
I've been saying this for years! T1 was horrifying as a kid
when Father and Son played at the funeral 😭😭😭
They killed Chibs in GOTG2. I got teary eyed when he died.
Sal Scalici I literally was like no fckin way they are killing my dude this quick
I really loved the connection between getting his first two "soundtracks" from his mom and being able to have the next one be from his dad (Yondu). Its a touching idea that we carry parts of our parents with us even after they are gone.
These are the only movie critics I really care about
Baby Groot Opening Credits sequence? Legit...my favorite sequence in ANY of these Marvel Movies. Agree the Star Lord version was unexpected and definitely showed the tone, this one just made me happy. I had the biggest smile on my face and just felt good.
rocket racoon laying down traps for the ravagers was one of the most iconic scenes of this movie.
Of all the reviews I've seen that try to nitpick this movie but not really convince me of their side, Marc has actually made some good critique.
Guardians of the Galaxy (both films) did for me what the "Back to the Future" trilogy did long ago. Few films of this comedic nature are so well-rounded in terms of cadence, story arch, visuals, music and talent; simply put, you just don't want to get off once you take the ride...I love it!!
I love what Kevin did for those 2 guys with the tickets. Spreading the Marvel love! :)
I finally saw this movie last night for the first time, and the ending had me bawling, that cat stevens song just brought out the waterworks.
I really have to agree with Kevin. In a movie that is literally knitted together from a seemingly endless array of amazing moments, the one moment that steals it all...
"I'm Mary Poppins, y'all!"
I lost it.
And like Mark, I also got a huge kick out of Russell's goofy smile and hair.
love the new intro guys. METAL.
hey man a two hour conversation over webcam would change both our lives you're the man
Myself and the others in the theater laughed "out loud" more than I remember doing in Vol 1. And I freaking love Vol 1!!! Plus Vol 2 just lingers in the mind for a while after seeing it. Which Vol 1 did for me as well. So Great movie in my opinion.
Winter Soldier was for captain America what Empire was for Star Wars (the way i see it)
And Vol.2 was for Guardians what Empire was for Star Wars (the way I see it).
I am yet to see it, perhaps this thursday :)
Except the good guys win and the story is bad.
Did anybody else pick up on the almost "Tango and Cash" reunion?
Quick correction on what Marc said about Mantis: The character is German / Vietnamese (in the books), though the actress Pom Klementieff is French (tough did not live in France for most of her childhood) with a French-Russian father and Korean mother.
Yondu was the best character in the movie
Tell me you didn't choke up at "he may be your father but he ain't your Daddy"
I literally check my UA-cam several times everyday just waiting for you both to post even though I have the notifications on 😬 but keep up the awesomeness gents and mr Kevin smith, I fucking love your movies man first movie I can recall from my childhood is and always will be clerks fucking rad man
I'm glad I watched it twice cause I was a tad underwhelmed the first time even tho I really enjoyed it but the second time man everything clicked with me. So much heart
Loved 1. Liked 2 but will need to see it a few more times to get a good idea of how I feel about it overall.
GeekFurious loved vol1 and loved vol2 even more..it has so much heart.. incredibly emotional movie
Awesome.
"I'm Mary Poppins Yall!"...Loved this movie...wow did I get choked up with this emotional ride. Amazing visuals as welll...sniff!
The new intro theme is pretty sick
Gun did some excellent character development this time around which worked SO perfectly. I was worried the humor would fall flat or feel forced but it was just plain spot on. Admittedly there were two jokes during the very grand final action set piece that didn't work as well -- one went on way too long and the other was ill placed and undermined the momentum of a great battle scene but those are quibbles. 4.5 / 5 stars.
It's really cool going back to watch Vol. 1 after seeing Vol. 2, the subtle references to his father and what not it's really cool!
Let me predict the review without even watching it:
"Loved it. Loved it. It was awesome, best movie ever"
Someone's been watching too much Nerd Crew.
They actually said it didn't reach the heights of the first one.
[Is that a Sarlaac pit? No, it's a toilet.] Funny!
I loved it too , it felt like a stage play w/ special fx's space opera , and very emotionally invested in the characters relationships

"I'm Marry Poppins Yall!!"🤣
MCU Top 10:
1: Captain America: Winter Soldier
2: Avengers
3: Captain America: Civil War
4: Guardians of the Galaxy
5: Iron Man
6: Ant Man
7: Doctor Strange
8: Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2
9: Avengers: Age of Ultron
10: Captain America: The First Avenger
Yay, a LONG episode
I enjoyed this movie so much more the second time.
Between his words and his hands Kevin, is a Master at accurately and honestly describing fleeting observational thoughts. Since he's smart and creative, it's kind of like Space Mountain for empaths.
Mark 16:26 this film was about the God Complex vs Opening up one's Vulnerability in order to become a better person.
Kevin Smith in the house! Man I love this guy.
Thank you for recognizing winter soldier. Hands down marvels best #2 movie.
They did the young face thing with Jeff Bridges in Tron 2 as well.
They even mention "Cheers" in the movie when Gamora and Starlords argue after dancing
And yeah it's a shame bautista or rooker won't win awards but dam they should
Question: Kevin which movie that you made which one was your favourite
Definitely preferred this to the first. I LOVED the first one, but this was like Empire Strikes Back in terms of sequels! The Watchers WERE perfect!!! That just did it for me.
Pom Klementieff isn't just French, she's French Canadian.
thursday the 4th. went to my small neighborhood theater (live in PDX, but we have smaller, non corporate theaters) for a 7pm show. most films I don't care for HD, 3D, IMAX BS; plus I don't make shit for wages, so I'm glad there's these cheap theaters that can show the movie for $7 for an adult.
