In case you're interested, there is an exceptional cover by a guy named Henning May who has a unique voice, very gravelly and deep, almost hoarse at points, yet very warm and melodic, pitch perfect. Usually Henning is the lead vocalist of the German band AnnenMayKantereit, but this is only him, on a rooftop somewhere. In the video he's not even singing, instead listening to his own recording on headphones, looking around, smiling, smoking a cigarette.The track is his own piano and vocals, and I swear it is the most beautiful and heartfelt version of the song I've ever heard! You will love his voice, everyone does, it's quite unique in the whole world: If you don't want to react do yourself a favor and give it a quick listen on your own, you will not be disappointed, and you will want to hear more from Henning, his voice is addictive... Elton John also did many of the Lion King songs, which are all great. Of his other sings, I always like the duet for Don't Go Breaking My Heart.

Maybe try Good bye Yellow Brick Road or Bennie and the Jets. I like the songs on the Madman Across the Water album best, though.
My brother used some of the lyrics from this song for my father's eulogy in 1973.
My favorite song by Elton John is "Crocodile Rock." It's a fast song that's very different from this song. I'm sure you'll love it; it's a lot of fun.
