For anyone new watching this, do not put thermal pads on top of the old ones! They have to be 1mm thick exactly, making them 2mm thick leads to overheating! and less than 1mm and the system doesn't start!

Hey I just have a question, can the thermal pads be replaced for thermal paste? I just don’t have the pads and was wondering if I can change the pads for the paste. Would be very appreciative if respond
NOOOOO!!!! Well thermal pads and thermal paste have the same function, there are specific thermal pads for a CPU. You cannot just use any thermal pads and expect it have the same outcomes.
Liquid Metal Conductonaut delivers the best result for sure. Traditional thermal paste would be Kyronaut. Best bang for buck would be Arctic MX-4/NT-H1 or NT-H2.
@@taytzuleong5584 why would you recommend him liquid thermal compound? although it is correct as a fact, but he was commenting on a video about PS4 maintenance. no one should use liquid metal on PS4. it will ruin the system within 1+ years only and not to mention that it is very risky if it spilled on electronic circuit!

Excelent video! I replaced the memory thermal pads....and when i try to open it again...its attached to the metal part...i can´t open it. Any suggestion???
When sticking pad, make sure no air bubble formed in between surfaces. Don't handle it with bare finger. Oil and dirt will reduce its performance. Clean the surface thoroughly with isopropyl alcohol first before applying it. Make sure your thermal pad is thick enough to fill the gap. slightly thicker than the gap is OKAY because once it will be squished to desired thickness once you have assembled the system. If it is too thick, the APU won't touch the heatsink properly and your system will overheat.
thickness of the pad on the memory chip is crucial. too thin it won't contact. too thick it will leave air gap on the APU. both case will ruin the system. also, application is not too easy. if air bubble is formed between the pad and the heatsink or memory surface, it will fail your system too. handling the pad using bare hand also contaminated it with dirt and oil, further reducing its potential. You do need so many logic in here.
MX4 is good too, no worries~~In my country Malaysia, the Arctic pads are expensive. You can opt for GELID pads too or the Thermal Grizzly Minus 8 pads 1mm in thickness.
