Yes. Agree. Their old songs are the bomb to me. I still listen to them until now. Try listening to their 1st debut song Lovesick. I'm sure you are going to love it. Their genres varies from rock to pop rock to even rock ballad song. Correct me if I'm wrong, they closely working with japanese producers also.

I have been a fan for almost 15 years since 2007 so I am not giving up, I think they are great live, they have great music and it is almost the only music I like, the members most of them were not the typical idols trying to act cute and fluffy so I could get on board without cringe every time, so Thanks for the support and even if you don't do a public reaction for what people might say, please check their concerts, especially the one in 2017 in Japan it was a killer. I saw them in 2015 in NY and they were great, they came to Best Buy Theater and we had a blast.
Lee Hong Gi is one of the best vocalist in Korea and totally underrated. Even when he's singing a song that's not my favorite style, I have to listen because the talent level is bananas. But also FTISLAND was one of my first kpop loves, and this song is from 2014 when I was first into this world. But I think you might like it a lot, so:

Yeah the scandal was shocking for everyone, including the other members of the band. Honggi (the vocalist) even publicly reprimanded a fan on Instagram who was trying to "stand up" for the despicable things that guy did. The post went viral and was used to show some delusional fans that if the guys own band member can drop him, you can too.
Anyway thanks for reacting to them! They have some great music, my personal favorite songs are Wind, Take me now, and Fade out (Still pissed it wasn't the title track tbh)

I'm so happy you like their music. I definitely recommend you listen to their japanese discography on your own, as it would be dangerous to react to them on youtube. The japanese songs are just that amazing.
I also recommend a ballad next. Wind or Severely. A very old amazing song would be Don't Love. Hongki's voice is a glasscase of emotion. Also No better Days or Into the Light, if you want to hear the basist sing. He is amazing too :)

Please check out more of their work, I personally am a really big fan of Shadows :D A more mainstream song would be Wind, it's rather recent and meant for a broader audience in Korea. :)

Thank you so much for reacting to this. I haven't listened to FT Island since this song came out, even though they were always one of my favorites. Jonghun used to be called Prince of Kpop because he was so handsome with a perfect half smile, and so charismatic and perfect. *sighs* It made me cry and I had to stop this video half way through. Apparently, I am not over this yet, and I don't know if I ever will be.
Hongki is by far one of the best vocalists in the industry. I saw them in concert YEARS ago and he was tired and jet lagged and probably hyped up on too many "monsters" and he still sounded perfect.
Came to watch Reaction vid of YWB by Day6, then saw Nflying's Hot Potato.. then Here FtIsland's Pray.. 🙏 thank you for recognizing the k-bands..
btw. Ftisland, CNBLUE and N.flying plus former band Honeyst are all from same ent. company called Fnc Entertainment who home bands that were trained in Japan before debuting in Korea.. (which is such a good strategy for their foundation as bands)
FTIsland is the whole reason I got into kpop. My daughter was obsessed with Wind. It was her most played Spotify track for 2 years. It showcases Hongki's amazing voice. Hongki also did a duet with Hwesung from N Flying. Yes a ballad but just wow! It will be interesting to see where they go after Hongki's military service and Minhwan (the drummer and proud father of soon to be 3!!) And tyeah, they're going through some stuff but unlike Jung Joon Young the band is more than the one in trouble. You should check out Wind defintiely and Take Me Now.

In fact, this song is written to memorize Sewol-ho chimmol sago. To some degree, I agree with your understanding of the MV to rebel against upper management. If possible, plz watch their live versions of Pray and Take me now. In the live, drummer has the solo part which is stunning.

Ft island is the group that opened me up into the rock scene in Asian music. Minus their controversial member and everything, they made mad good music. I would still recommend “Take Me Now” by them. It’s the first song I heard from them and it’s still by far my favorite
In my opinion Hongki (the lead singer) has some of the best vocals in the industry. I would highly recommend listening to Wind as well because it's a gorgeous song. He also has a ballad duet with Hweseung, the lead singer from N.Flying, called Still Love You and their vocals on that are breathtaking! I really enjoy your reactions, keep it up!
They have been out since 2007... They had a very huge fight with the management for that year, the album wasn't promoted, but it was what they wanted to do. The song Out of Love live is amazing... Lee Hong Ki is in the army now but he is considered one of the best vocalists of his generation, he has done so many solo songs and OSTs he is amazing...

Thank you for doing this band. They are incredibly talented young men. That drummer you kept talking about was 14 when they debuted and the oldest was 17. They were the first Idol band, bands like Day6 and Nflying were built off their formula. The members that are left should not be punished for Jonghoon's despicable behaviour, they are amazing musicians. Lee Hong Ki has one of the best voices I have ever heard, he was one of the first people that got me in the Kpop scene 8 years ago. Thank you again for checking them out. Pretty much any song performed by them live is great.
FT Island have so many amazing songs. "Take me now" was the first one I heard and "Shadow" is amazing as well but my favorite thing about them is how versatile they are. As of their earlier career "I Hope", "Love Sick" and "Hello Hello" is still my favorites lol. But I definitely recommend "Wind". Its more of a rock balled and one of the reasons Hongki is my most favorite vocalist ever. And of course, their b-side tracks are just as amazing as their title tracks. As of recent comebacks I think "God Bless You" is their most recent, at least all together.

They are a Korean metalcore band who were the first heavy rock band to finish top 6 on the popular Korean television show Superstar K.

Dude, literally 2 months ago I commented on your reaction to MAMAMOO's Hip video that you react to FTIsland video "Shadows". You HAVE to react to that video. It is by far FTIsland's BEST song! Please react to FTIsland's "Shadows"!
They had a one album out last September before Hong ki's enlistment the song Quit is out, they had one out in 2018 the song Summer's Night Dream was really good, they had two Japanese albums out that year, Lee Hong Ki did a solo album and the bassist Lee Jae Jin had a Japanese solo album last October called Love Like the Films with the members of FNflying, he was helping them as the bassist before they got the new member they just got, FT Island is probably getting two new guitarist from the same disbanded band Nflying got a member from it and they might get the guitarists from there too, is what us the fans believed since Lee Hong Ki is not giving up on FT Island and neither are we.
I'm so glad you reacted to them! Please know that what the guitarist did isn't related to any of the other members. Honggi (the singer) even reprimanded a fan trying to stand up for him, saying that he should be punished for the things he did.
This is one of my favorite songs from them! While I do like their more "poppy" music, their rock music is always my favorite. A couple of my fave songs from them are Shadows & Take Me Now. Some of their more "poppy" songs would Hello Hello & Madly. They also have more ballad-y tyoe songs such as Wind & I'm Still With You.
Honggi has an amazing voice & I love his solo stuff so much. His collab with N.Flying's singer is amazing!

I love Lee Honggi's voice. My fav album is "Where's the truth?" and Take me Now is a amazing song. Unfortunately we don't know how will be the future of them, but they did a amazing job and have a great future (excluding that guy that I refuse to say the name 😔)

FTI has struggled for their entire career cause rock music is hardly supported by the mass audience and among the korean industry. FTI was one of the first rock band to debut (aside from TRAX) and they were the first group from their company. So they had to find their own ways w zero guidance and they were super young with all members in their teens.
Due to the lack of rock bands and also due to how the broadcast stations works, FTI hardly had chances to perform live - plus they were all goodlooking which caused them to be labelled nasty names like “pretend band” or “just pretty boys with no talents”. They eventually were sent to Japan cause Japan has a larger rock fanbase - their Japan success gave them hope but also cause their Korean market to diminish.
Pray album was special cause all along FTI were forced with concepts they didn’t really like, and Pray album was the sound all members has always wanted and fought for. Thankfully Pray did well but unfortunately due to them going against the company’s wishes, their company barely made use of the opportunity and didn’t promote them well.
FTI has TONS of good songs, i personally hope you can check out their live concert performances for Out of Love, Want and Lose!
If you want some really heavy stuff definitely check out Bursters!! They're not very popular but they're definitely talented. I dont have any specific song recommendation so if you do listen to them, I'm sure you'd enjoy any of their songs!

FT Island is known to be the most open artist especially in their era. They don't hide much. They'd rather spill the beans on their own rather than giving the media the satisfaction of spilling the juicy news. That's a summary of what the MUSIC VIDEO means. The people with make up on are curious people who wants to see what's inside this box (the artist). They wanna know anything good and dirty. In the MV, the band blew up the box and let the noise come out. They don't care what people would think. As you may already know, rock bands in korea are not that well appreciated. The genre "rock" is what I mean.
Jonghoon made a mistake and he deserves what he got. I still like him as an "Artist". So, some people woun't understand but I don't care. I'll still wait for the day when he will be release from prison and see him learn his lesson and maybe get a second chance. Their are still fans who thinks the same way as I am.
Seunghyun made the right choice to leave the band and the company. As a fan, it still hurts but I would rather he did what he did than let his inner struggle consume him. You already know what is happening to the kpop world. Some are still struggling and some took their own lives. I would rather see Seunghyun be someone else besides a band member. I really cannot handle losing another ult (after SHINee's Jonghyun). He will always be FT Island and Primadonna's (fans) sunshine. I don't want him to lose his smile.
As a fan for a decade, this has been tough. No matter what happens, all 5 of them are still FT Island in my heart. Despite what FT Island had gone through, 2019 was the most hardest. They are basically homies to me and homies don't lose their love for one another. I'm sure the other members are upset of what Jonghoon did but I know they still care for him and will accept him again in their life.
Before, I only cared for their music. I didn't mean to get attached to the band. I will and still listen to their songs always and forever old and new. It's their music that lead me to adore them as an artist. I may have some bittersweet feelings when I see the two former members but it won't stop me from enjoying their music.

I’m pretty sure the theme of the MV was the Sewol ferry tragedy where hundreds of students died in a ferry and the politicians and officials did nothing. The people outside the cage represent the people that let them die.
Yassss!! Thanks for this reaction and for praising Minhwan skills on the drums I feel like he doesn't get the recognization he deserves and he like my second favorite member. Also, Lee Hongki's vocal skills are always on another level and he is one of my favorite vocalists. If you want to hear what they sound before Pray, you could look at Love Sick it'S their debut song and the most popular for the band in South Korea. And there so many songs that are good by them some that you could react like Take Me Now(my first ever ft island song), Shadows, Severely, Madly, Hello Hello, Bad Woman, Wind, Puppy(which got a funny mv) and they did do recent comeback actually last year they did God Bless You and this year they did Quit. It's a big commentary I did but these are just a few recommendations for you :) Also keep the good work i really like your reactions :)

Their Japanese discography (mainly Five Treasure Island to present) is my favourite. Their Japanese concert dvds are amazing too. The song that introduced them to me is 바래 I HOPE. It's a Korean song that's more poppy. And their debut song 사랑앓이 Love Sick is a classic. Very angsty.
Pray was the first Korean rock song I ever heard and the song that Introduced me to FTIsland. I was watching Music Bank (Korean music show where groups perform weekly) years ago, suddenly this band comes up and starts playing and I'm SHOOK! I was a huge rock fan before getting into kpop (rock is still one of my favorite genres still) so I was immediately in love with the song and Hongki voice. I searched them that same day and ever since been a fan of their music. Yes, i still decided to support the rest of the group despite what happened cuz like u said, they don't deserve to pay for the other's wrong doings. Pray is still my favorite song of them (cuz of the emotional feeling I get from it). It speaks to me. I really recommend every song of them. Day6 and FT. Island are my favorite Korean bands.

The guitarist that recently left Song Seunghyun was actually an added member. In the first 2 years of FT Island, they had another guitarist (Oh Won Bin) who ultimately decided to leave the band in order to pursue other genres of music.
FT Island was one of the biggest love of my life. And Hongki's voice is my eternally most favourite voice of all times

There’s another band that is in the same era as FTISLAND, it’s call CNBLUE. They also lost a guitarist and sub-localist/succentor. Some of their famous song are “I’m a loner” and “sorry sorry”. They are really good too!
FTISLAND’s “Love love love” is another recommendation I have for them.
This song is indeed a song that they used to "break out" of their idol image, BUT in Korea. In Japan, they've worked on the sound that they want to do for a while, since their indie years there in 2008/9, and then, their major debut in 2010, so this kind of sound isn't a new thing for them. Maybe you would like to check out Shadows? It's a Japanese title track of theirs, but I kind of can predict that it might be to your liking as well! :)

I got listening to FT ISland due to the fact that I grew up with the 90's and early 2000 rock in the US. I am a nirvana x guns and roses freak, but I think Ft ISland is more like MOtley Crew x Guns and Roses mixed up. Loved them until the scandal by the guitarist..... sad. the singer was so talented.....
As for the context in which they wrote this song - check sewol ferry disaster in which happened in Korea. Many people died, and the majority were high school kids who were told by the captain and staff (the adults) to stay in their rooms...they listened... most drowned...some managed to send text messages to their parents & families, realizing they won't be saved in time. The captain was the first to escape 😔. That tragedy affected not only them... if you look at the video again...things will make sense.
That's about the context. As for FTISLAND, to truly appreciate Hongki (the main vocalist) vocals, check Wind (I will also recommend 나무/tree, cause JaeJin also sings there, and his voice is also beautiful).

Ok, first of all, Hong Ki, the main vocalist is by far one of the best and more emotional singers out there. He is a GENIUS!
I've been following them for a long long time and I like every genre and style they have done, everything suits them, that's how good they are as musicians. As I've said Hong Ki is a very emotional singer and his ballads pull your heartstrings like, it hurts but it's beautiful. Indeed their japanese music is heavier (maybe you could say it has a j-rock kind of sound), you should listen to their japanese music, you will love it. I'm sure!
Now as you said the elephant in the room. I'm glad you decided to concentrate on the music and left everything else out, you are right, we can't just refuse to listen and appreciate good music because one or two of the artists are scum. Their music is STILL great music, and it has nothing to do with them as persons. Of course it would be perfect if everyone was good and admirable, but that's not how real life works, sadly.
I've seen a couple of your reactions, I'm a new subscriber (yay!) and I really like them. I love that you investigate and care, and honestly, I like how you think. Very down to earth, very honest. It feels like having a conversation about a common like or topic. You rock!
I have been a fan of the guys since the beginning and will continue to support them regardless of the mistakes of 1 member. This is one of my ALL TIME favourite songs of theirs - I often drive around with this on the stereo up full bore and drum on my steering wheel like I was Minwhan - I’m not. Lol. HongKi’s vocals are something else - he sings incredible ballads but I LOVE hearing him belt out like this.
I'm late, but you have to check their live performance out though. Their concerts. FT Island is a rock Band, they were actually more popular in Japan when they first started before they decided to give Korean pop market a try. In the past, they have worked in both Korea and Japan. But, you're right this album is actually them coming back saying we're going to do whatever we wanted, to their agency. Hongki the lead singer is incredibly talented. They convey the feeling of the song very well through his singing and his expressions. Thanks for keeping them alive.
Glad you're reacting to FT Island. I have another fave group but if I had to listen to one Korean it would be Lee Hong Ki. His voice is amazing. I never get tired of hearing it. Even without music it's super powerful.
You may find this interetsing but their drummer, MinHwan, is widely considered a genius in his field. Also, as for their sound, they fought for years to be able to make more rock and less pop music. One of their more famous old ones is Love, Love. Their last big one was Wind.

I really love this band and it's such a shame that the scandal will always be a stain on the band but I hope everyone just forgets about the other guy and still continue with the rest of the band. I mean after all, lots of bands go through member changes either way so it's not anything unfamiliar. (It's a shame since that banished member was also my favourite member....I felt so disappointed about him but I love how the rest of the band members were able to move forward despite this setback)
Ok one left bc he want to be focused on acting and the other is in prison bc he deserve it, Hong Ki, Jae Jin and Minhwan deserve recognition bc they’re so talented and Korea don’t appreciate them enough.
And about the video, the meaning is about on 2014 in Korea occurred a Sewol (boat name) tragedy, in resume the staff keep tell the highs school students who were on board to be on the top floor down while ship was sinking, that’s why at first he was trapped on a cage and them the rest as well while those people with masks was laughing at them and also the lyrics of the song is about that tragedy.
The best thing about FT Island is that even though Hongki is one of the best vocalists in all of Kpop, each and every member of this group’s can SING. All of them. Man, I miss them.
