Hongki (the singer) is such an iconic voice in Korea, he's easily got one of the most recognizable voices in the industry. Even people who don't listen to ft island will hear his voice and go "oh that's lee hongki!". He always sings live and is such a powerhouse, and FTIsland is just overall SUCH a great band.
YES!! Love the FTIsland reaction and the appreciation for k-rock. FTIsland definitely is more of a rock group that generally likes more hardcore style music but their company in their earlier years preferred them doing softer songs.
FTIsland is quite an older group being out since 2007. Their company is FNC which houses a lot of K rock bands including CNBlue, N. flying, and HoneySt each with their own styles. Personally I feel FTIsland shines with their hardcore or deep rock songs, CNBlue with a classic rock or pop rock sound, NFlying with their energetic fun/light hearted songs, and HoneySt which is a newer band that does more bright sweet sounding songs

One of my favorite genres of video is people going on Hongki's radio show and trying to sing FT Island songs to impress him. Here's Seungkwan living out his dream singing alongside Hongki (ua-cam.com/video/UNRPB5-rXGs/v-deo.html), Yoo Jaehwan who does pretty well until he begs Hongki to bail him out ~3:30 (ua-cam.com/video/cgnyHsZg7so/v-deo.html), and actor Kim Soohyun is a good sport and clearly appreciates having Hongki as a duet partner to back him up (ua-cam.com/video/ZC-zoOiU51c/v-deo.html).
AND THE BEST THING: Ilhoon and Peniel doing a cover of the classic FT Island song Love Sick (ua-cam.com/video/TVx_ZhCETeY/v-deo.html).
I actually saw those two songs live at their 10 years concert in France and damn the atmosphere, for Wind we were all holding lightsticks and/or banners singing with them like one heart, really emotional a lot of us cried while he was doing the high note and us singing "I will go. I will find" etc, and then Take Me Now dear lord: screaming the lyrics, jumping and moving our lighsticks violently to the rhythm. Definitely FTISLAND concerts are something to do in a life 🤘💛
Edit: you will NEVER hear someone with perfect vocals live but Hongki can jump, run amd drink alcohol on stage he still nailed every notes specially in Wind he's not human. He's a CD Player that's the only explanation I have. OH AND PRAY IS A MUST TO WATCH BOTH MV AND LIVE CAUSE I'M CONCERT THE FEELING IS UDYEHEUWDGEUE
ohh, lord, I was there tooo, i came from Spain to Paris for this concert, and I cried a lot for the Hongki voice... I will NEVER forget this day!! But The drunk play was too much lol, poor Jaejin...
yep seriously ft island is one of the best band i know! especially the vocalist hongki is the best vocalist i know..seriously you should check their songs more, because everytime i listen to his vocal, i just get shocked
Lee hong ki is well known in south korea for his singing abilities.. There is no doubt when he singing and he always singing live (no lipsync) even though his throat is sore.. you should watch they live version especially in their concert..

FT Island debuted in 2007, Wonbin left pretty early (2009 if I remember correctly). Current members are Jonghoon (leader & pretty much plays different instruments in every song lol but was the piano in Wind), Honggi/ Hongki (main vocal), Jaejin (bass), Seunghyun (Guitar & raps a few times lol, us Primadonnas consider him our rapper), & Minhwan (drums). All the members can sing and can sing well at that but Honggi is the main vocal. But yeah Wind was the release for their 10 year anniversary. Definitely recommend that whole album, it is amazing. So they have a great sized discography especially since they also have their Japan releases which are great too.

Thanks you for reacting to ft island its actual going to be their 11th anniversary in june. They debut in 2007. And were fnc first boy band. And s korea first boy group that play instruments 😂. They werent seen as a band. Thank you so much for recognizing their talents. And lee hong ki is one of Koreans best vocalist. And one of the oldest group in kpop that hasent disband.

Lee hong ki sings like a god even when hes sick, hangover or running like crazy on stage . Its mind blowing.
They boy has talent and he never practiced vocal lessons or practices. And jaejin, minhaw, seungyhun, and jonghoon just have the perfect team work. Its incredible they write and compose their own music and play different instruments and have beautiful vocals also.
Ft island doesnt get enough recognition and are less popular of the bands but are older they are know very well in Korea and internationally but by the older generation not the new kpop fans. Which is so sad cz they dont respect older groups or their music. They pick pretty faces over talent and quality music. Thats why i will always stick with bands. Just like you said " bands always have the most unique vocals and talents".

Hongki's voice never fails to give me goosebumps.
There is a relatively new video from Kiss the Radio which Hongki was the DJ for where he sings Wind as a duet with Seventeen's Seungkwan and it is seriously amazing. Seungkwan being able to sing one of his idol's songs with his idol and his cute fanboying over Hongki's vocals all while killing it is so precious :D

FTISLAND is even older than CNBLUE. They are on 11 years and are CNBLUE's seniors. They started out as 14-17 year olds (international age)
The main vocal hongki is LEGEND vocalist in korea and he recently collaborated with hweseung main vocal of N.flying in ( Still Love You) mv which is and will be the best collaboration of 2018 ever

Thank you for reacting to FT Island, i think the same about korean bands, they're something else, There's so much variety and they don't sound the same, each of them have their own color even FTIsland songs have very different styles, especially their most recent ones. On the other hand I can't say the same with dance groups.
Lee Hongki's voice (main vocalist) reminds me of Journey's Steve Perry voice.
Not every dance group has the same style all the time, SHINee has such a variety of songs and they are all amazing.
FTIsland is my favorite rock band from Korea and Hongkis voice is one of the absolute top voices, Thank you for reacting to them.

If you ever come across this comment, check out Bii - Nothing At All. He's Mandarin Pop/Rock but I think you'll appreciate his voice. The song itself makes me think of Creep so definite winner. I had the fortune of traveling to Hong Kong in 2018 for his concert, yes just to hear him live, and it was worth all the coins. He's an experience.

Hello, i know i'm late but here i am telling you that FTISLAND's songs are ALL awesome. and Hongki (the vocalist) also have his own solos... do get into them even deeper. Their newest song is 'Quit' and Hongki's newest song is 'Mixtape' (it is japanese)

What I love about korean bands is that each of them are unique in their own way, each korean band that i checked out, FT Island, N.Flying, CN Blue, Day6, The Rose, Guckkasten, Drug Restaurant, all of them have their own sound, maybe it attributes to their vocalists that each have their unique voice and each band dip into different genre/vibes there is.

Ft Island is turning 11 years old this year They have 5 members Jong Hoon the leader Piano and guitar, Hong Ki lead vocalist, Jaejin second vocalist, Seunhyun Piano and vocals Minhwan drums and vocals they write their songs since 2012... Please check Ft Island's Crying in the Rain Korean version it is an epic song... don't get anything before 2012 because they were more ballads than rock and pop sound chosen by their agency, but concerts, check Tornado, Fish, Black Chocolate, Love sick, Memory, flower rock, out of love, last love song, morning coffee, their Japanese music is super great they just released their 17th single and their 8th album in Japan 8 days ago.

Just a note for CNBLUE, Starting Over is a release from their Japanese album and there’s no MV for a Korean version - not sure if you knew or if this would change your schedule/song choice :P
CNBLUE do a good job and often change their sound album to album
I highly recommend Between Us, it’s the title track from their most recent Korean release, the earliest being ‘Loner’ which was their Korean debut
They actually debuted in Japan first and their band name stands for Code Name Blue :)
