Hollywood superstar, Oscar winner and legendary comedian, Robins 1982 original stand-up masterpiece Robin Williams Live and Uncensored! is being released in Australia for the first time.
With over 40 industry honours to his credit, including an Academy Award, two Emmys, four Grammys and six Golden Globes, and his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Robin Williams has become one of the most successful figures in entertainment history.
Born in Chicago, his family moved to San Francisco when he was 16 where he was voted Least Likely to Succeed by his fellow graduates at high school! His comedy skills were honed in college, but he briefly studied political science before enrolling at the prestigious Julliard School to study theatre.
After graduating he performed in clubs and by the mid-70s hes guest-starred on legendary shows like Saturday Night Live, Laugh-In and The Richard Pryor Show, with his talent for improv being there from the beginning.
In 1977 he won a guest appearance on Happy Days as the alien Mork from the planet Ork - during the audition Robin sat on his head on the chair which led to his own series Mork & Mindy.
Hollywood was soon calling and a string of classic hits followed Robin excelling in dramatic and comedy roles in the films; The World According To Garp, Awakenings, Aladdin, Mrs Doubtfire, Jumani, The Birdcage, Patch Adams, Licence To Wed. He made Oscar nominated performances for Good Morning Vietnam, Dead Poets Society, The Fisher King as well as the stand-out Oscar winning performance for Good Will Hunting.
His latest film, the buddy comedy Old Dogs with John Travolta, is releasing in Australia on Boxing Day 2009.
Robin is a great supporter of charities around the world, benefiting health care, human rights, education and environmental protection, and has been a regular performer and host of the Comic Relief charity show. After a 16 year absence from stand-up comedy, Robin came back with an award winning sold-out U.S. Tour, and mid-September hell resume his current sold-out U.S. Tour, Weapons of Self Destruction.
Robin Williams comedy classic stand-up show Live and Uncensored! recorded live in San Francisco in 1982, is being released in Australia for the first time in 27 years on DVD. It features Robins trademark free associations, million-mile-per-hour speech and riffs on the social and political absurdities of the world, his zany, off-the-wall humour never ceases to dazzle as he yells, skips and swears his way through a series of crazy characters and improvisations that reflect that indelible Williams hysteria, plus heaps of Special Features. Live and Uncensored! In stores from September 9.
A light went out, the world is a dimmer place. We will miss his mad cap sense of humour , he was a genius. Thanks for sharing yourself with us, Robin. RIP
Robin is a special genius, he's one of the few Americans who can do an accurate Australian accent.
Honestly, I have never felt so down seeing a famous actor passing. I feel like this man was part of my family. god bless mate
Im with you, I have never been so affected by a celebrity dying, he was such a unique guy it's a tragic end to all his countless years of making all of us laugh that he felt so down in his own life. It's a waste.
Blue Whovian We should celebrate how lived and not think of why or how he died .
187noneed I'm finding it hard at the moment not to think about it, especially since he did it cos of monetary problems, it really is sad. But time does heal
Blue Whovian
You,nor any of us know the "REAL TRUTH OF HOW HE DIED",but it is very sad.More for his family.
Probably the best interview I've seen with him. What a loss!
Props to Rove! He was able to hold it down with Rob and roll with him during the interview. Made it a legendary interview in Australian TV. Awesome
OMG so good and I love when he does the Mrs Doubtfire voice. Great stuff .RIP ROBIN WILLIAMS
OMFG I laughed so fucking hard at the end, he turned the word dildo into a masterpiece!
i knew about him when my dad made me watch mrs. doubtfire, i fell in love with him. he was so funny had our whole family laughing. he is part of many people's childhood. he will be missed.
One of the Funniest interviews with RW I have seen. So sad he is gone.
What a natural talent, it just never turns off! Rove and Robin seem to get on really good too which is awesome.
A great, fun interview and this single clip alone gave me a new found respect for Rove who was quite funny himself as they bounced jokes off each other.
gotta love robin...the king of ad libitum brilliance, dry wit and deadpan delivery
rest easy x
Robin Williams funniest man in the world!
The only interviewer that has ever kept up with RW for a whole interview!
He is a comical genius. No one will ever be able to replace him!!

@euginam91 i dunno about that, you should see me performing heart surgery, its fucking hilarious : )
this was spritly
@andrewglover6 Thanks
lol the interview fell apart, as usual with Robin.
What was with the fake laughin in the background ha .
only robin williams can make heart surgery in the least bit funny... thank god he's still with us... mazel tov
wow, pink hooding with a suit........
But.. who would you turn gay for???
This Australian guy with a voiceover at the beginning is irritating.
Name is Ryan. I used to find him funny… when I was 14…
Yeah but that's only 'coz Rob was 4 months on from his open-heart surgery! They're not s'posed to be back to "normal activities" for at least 6 months after that. Some don't even make it off the table alive! But then again Robin Williams was never normal. From my personal study of embryology (foetus formation) I'd say his conception was a different one. Not Immaculate, but probably the opposite to that (whatever that might be).
terrible camera angles! Disgusting! Almost as bad as modern family... Great interview though!
insects took their own life haha
Did his surgery affect his speech? It sounds a wee bit too slurred
Can the canned laughter.
hes lame
now these were the days when rove wasn't a total sell out good days
