Everyone around Mustafa tries to convince him to walk towards the throne. However, Mustafa sets off to save his father. Mustafa barely makes it on time but Suleiman gets suspicious because Mustafa has known about the assassination.

And also, I remember when Suleiman orders Bayezid come to palace. He tell Hurrem that he come because of his mother not because of Sultan.

H wanted Suleiman to live forever so none of the kids would be weeded down to one. Fatma wanted only Mustafa to live among the nephews.
Finally, a son who defends Hurrem. Both Bayezid and Cihangir are disrespectful towards their own mother. I'm glad that Selim put that annoying Fatma in her place. Good for Nurbanu, she also stands up for herself. Bad day for Fatma lol

Selim did for the sake of power. He said in fromt Hurrem to gain support from his mother. Not more than that.
None of her son respected her except Mehmed n Selim did it for her support n for the sake of power else none of them except selim accepted her tyranny against Mustafa.
Selim did this for selfish purposes in order to appease Hurrem and win her over to his side. It's disgusting. Hypocritical and pathetic. Moreover, Hurrem is not similar in this regard to Safiye or Kesem. In the end, she chose not the son who tried to bribe her with power, but the one who was conscientious, honest and merciful.

Good man Selim! Never let someone insult your mother in front of you and get away with it! No matter who they are! Selim may not have been the ideal candidate for an heir, but he wasn't stupid. He knew Fatma was trying to pit him against his own mother because she wanted to be in charge. He also knew his brothers were more in favor of Mustafa and could potentially turn against them if it came down to it. With Mehmet tragically taken from them by Mahidivran, Selim knew he had to be the one to protect his mother since his father won't due to still being mad at Hurrem for the spying fiasco.
Also because Suleiman, at the end of the day, *cannot* protect Hürrem from the coming power struggles… because his death will have been what caused them.
Thus, Selim really is the smart son here. Bayezed, and Çihanghir are both sort of playing the Ned Stark “trust their intentions” card… but GRRM’s been writing those books long enough that Selim probably read the first book and learned a lesson in surviving politics:

Historically Selim actually did not want the throne, he just had to get it in order to survive. In fact historically it is said that he was an emotional man, suffering the trauma of the execution and death of his brothers and so he took solace in wine. He did not like war and thats why people considered him weak! To prevent fighting among his sons, he had publically announced his son Murad as his successor while he was alive, something that was previously unheard in the Ottomans.

All prince’s in the Ottoman Empire had equal right to the throne and no prince supported any of their older or younger brother because they clearly knew that if one of them ascends the throne, he would kill the rest and that’s how it had been throughout the history of the Ottoman Empire until the time of sultan Ahmed ( when the practice of fratricide was reduced but not completely finished ) so every prince wanted the throne for himself, no matter how deserving one prince is for the throne, his brothers would never support him since it means that all of them would be executed once he ascends the throne and mustafa’s case was no different ( in the series they showed that if mustafa succeeds the throne he would send selim and Bayezid to provinces but that’s all fictional )

Really pathetic how Fatma fails at her rather obvious move to turn Selim against Hürrem and then has to take her anger out at a concubine. She may have seemed impressive after her arrival, but it's clear now she holds almost as little political skill as Hatice, who was easily the stupidest of the sisters of Suleiman
She was indeed more clever and smarter than Hatice, but powerless compared to the other sisters. Hürrem didn’t taker her seriously though, Sahuban was the most threatening sister, even Hurrem couldn’t defeat her.

They will leave capital palace and live in their own palace. They have no right to interfere in the power of Hurrem Sultan and the daughter of current sultan, Mihrimah Sultan. After Valide Sultan died, Both of them (mihrimah and Hurrem) has the highest rank in the imperial harem than sultan siblings, which they know as previous sultan daughter. Not all sultanah will remain living in the main palace. When their father's reign ended, their position and power would also change.

But I think it is not right to deprive any person from their birth right, it extremely angers me that the daughters are treated like trash and the sons like some sort of god, despite the fact that both has the exact same blood, and rights. For example, Hatice would be equal or superior to Suleiman as she was the older sister, but now we tell them to "go back to their place" from the palace they were born in. Fatma needs to shutttupp and remember that Hurrem is the FIRST HASEKI SULTAN -Haseki Sultan's position, used for a century, reflected the great power of imperial consorts, who were former slaves, in the Ottoman court, elevating their status higher than the Ottoman princesses, and making them the equals of the empress consorts in Europe.
When the position of valide sultan was vacant, a haseki could take valide's role, have access to considerable economic resources, become chief of the imperial harem, sultan's advisor in political matters, and even have an influence on foreign policy and on international politics. These cases happened during Hürrem Sultan, Safiye Sultan and Kösem Sultan's eras.
