  • Storms can often cause Lake Trout to go on an aggressive feeding frenzy. Today we are jigging deep for a chance at huge Lake Trout during a rain storm. It doesn't get any better than this.

Please allow these big Lake Trout to stay big and be fun for future generations of fisherman. These species live up to 50 years and can get over 45inches in length, a 30-year-old fish is over 25 years old. Plenty of 18 to 22's to eat that taste great.

good stuff, and a 30 yr old fish is definitely over 25 yrs old, haha(need a little proofreading above)

Insane video. What is the best time of year to go out there and jig fish these incredible fish?

3rd and 4th week of June: I’ve been going 3 years now and May is way too soon and have to really find them. Mid June it picks up but way late at like 3pm. Toward the end of June for some reason it’s all day long and multiple fish in a matter of few hours. When you’re looking at maps. Look for humps and ridges so many fish.

@@MountainStateAngler Thank you so much for this information! So many fisherman like to play it close to the chest with that kind of information and I really appreciate it! One last question if you don't mind. What depth is it best to look for them in during that time frame?

    • @MountainStateAngler

@@user-qj2yh3iz7p glad you asked 55 to 75 is all you need all the way up until start of July, from July on target then 85 to 110feet. As water cools they’ll go deep. I highly recommend you fish Fort Peck at least for Lakers 3rd or 4th week of June by then it is lights out and perfect water temp for them.

@@user-qj2yh3iz7p great! I have learned over the last two years how certain times are better than others. Always make sure on the map you fish on top of humps and between them, that is where they’ll cruise!

100% Fort Peck Marina. Scott Collinsworth, call the place and book with him. I did a two day trip in this video and I scheduled another two days trip with him July 11th and 12th.
