    Perfect, Guys. Thanks! I'm going to be getting out there for the first time this year. Didn't have an appropriate setup last year so I'm looking forward to the migration. The plug modification help is awesome.Coming to the shop for a whole setup in April.
    I'd love to see some common riggings you use for jigs/plugs - knots, leader lengths, etc. The video where you showed the fly teasers was a good example.

      Thanks for the comment chase. We will definitely be showing more of our riggings when we do more 'on the water' filming this upcoming Spring & Summer! We look forward to seeing you in April!

    I think it’s also to do with migration patterns. I had a great year in 2020 and this spring was my best yet. Huge bass were caught in jersey and Boston last year and it seams like the migration literally slipped by the canal. ATLEAST a lot of the larger pods of fish did!

    Like the series please show close ups lures and give us a chance to get a good look .If you consider profiling various surf casting rods with comparison of features would make for interesting series.Note Seible swimmers outfished everything I used last summer

    I'd like to see you guys talk about:
    Best locations at the canal to fish.
    Rules and regulations, as I think commercial stripe bass fisherman can't fish there anymore due to all the issues, and the non commercial rules and regs.
    Best time to go, tides, night vs day time fishing.
    Etiquette, as I think there's been a lot of problems there, especially at night.

    How effective is that outcast pencil popper pink color at canal? Between floating vs sinking, which one would perform better?

    • @DanEvan
      @DanEvan 3 роки тому +3

      For the canal I’d always choose a sinking pencil. Not something so obsurd that it sinks like a bank sinker, but a slow sink. There are certainly lures like a 4 oz loaded cotton Cordell that you can jig subsurface. But using a slow sinking pencil with the high speed reels we use and the current, and proper angler input, it’s not difficult to plane a properly setup pencil to the surface. Beyond just the distance that most sinking pencils provide, you can dictate how high or low the plug rides in the water, if a fish takes a few swings and misses you can stop the plug and it will sink down and back giving the fish a clean underwater take at the lure, and sinking pencils tend to hold and not get tossed around in the current as much as their floating counterparts. Also, unlike when you pause a lure like a spook and it remains in a natural parallel position on the surface, your typical floating pencils sit tail down with just the nose coming out of the water. So for me, I’ll take the extra distance, and ability to control the lures action and presentation.
      Just my opinion for what it’s worth.

    • @GooseHummock
      @GooseHummock  3 роки тому +1

      Dan pretty much took the words right out of our mouths! We really like some of the Ocean Born pencils and cup nose popper in the SLD as we can use it subsurface or any other water column we want. It also gets us that little bit of distance which can be huge sometimes at the ditch!

    Would really love to see a shoot out between the Slammer 6500, Saltx 6000, Cabbo 5000-8000, Saragosa 14000 and saltist 500-6500. these are all the main reels i see down there that arent $1000
    everyone and their mother says saragosa, i think i am the only person alive who doesnt like the way shimanos feel.
    I am looking to get the slammer and the saltx this year. along with a battle 3 high speed.

      @@GooseHummock Sweet deal, thanks for replying. I nailed a 40+ inch fish last year on my 10ft 1-5 penn battalion and a tsunami evict 5000 55lb braid.
      I use super slick to try and avoid wind knots, would love to see a line comparison. I just put yellow 55lb on my new Slammer 6500. do you think line color matters at all?

    • @williamwalsh6282
      @williamwalsh6282 3 роки тому

      I love Shimano and have several... but bought a Diawa BG 5000 for the canal, it is a beast for $130. The guy at Bass Pro a 5000, fishes the canal and wishes he had gone even smaller to the BG 4000, has the same drag but less line capacity , so just don’t use backer, it’s smaller and lighter which is always the aim.

    Fellas, less selling and more learning/tutorial. I am more inclined to go to your shop the more I LEARN how to fish from you and the less you push products. Push the products when I get there (believe me at that point in person I will buy everything you point to). This is constructive criticism only. Sincerely trying to help even though I know it is just my opinion.
