Winter is setting in and its never a smooth one for me.
So I find the route as to the cause for the pond to trip the electric.
We have a bit of fun finding it and use the ugliest brolly in the UK that isnt actually waterproof.
Oh well this is Koi Fish Johnny we dont do sensible.

Rule number one with anything that has threads,use ptf / plumbers tape. Creates a water tight seal. Have done the exact same on my own vari control wiring and have never had an issue,outside year round without issue. Also can put like a shelf over to keep the heavy rain off too and protect it from the worst of the weather and last keep them under the units. hope that helps some👍

Maybe the brolly or your polycarb is dripping water straight onto the control box connections. I believe taping them up helps

Had the same thing happen, dried it out and wrapped the joint in cling film and not happened since

If your not running water through your skimmer/tempest line I personally would drain them to avoid freezing 🥶
Not a bad idea TBH mate but not sure if I can get all water out and keep it out
Either PTFE tape in the thread mate, or wrap some Gorilla Tape tightly around the outside…. 👍🏼

Mine are wrapped in self amalgamating tape as one when I got in first rain I had your problem

Hi Johnny,
What you need to do is once you get them working you need to wrap up where they join them together on up and down so you sealed them with electric tape I had the same problem with àuto feeder and after I did what I just talking about and it stopped it and it as been fine since mate.

It's a known fault with those connectors when outside esp with heavy rain in fact water can penetrate the actual control box . 1st step self amalgamating tape on the cable joint
2nd step shelter the control boxes just a piece of polythene over the top will suffice

Heat shrink tube it’s very effective for electrics. Yes if you had to unplug its not reusable. When u shrink it if forms a resin seal type around the cable at both ends. Slide a length down wire reconnect make sure all ok slide over the connector and shrink with heat 👌

Get some electrical amalgamation tape wrapped around connectors mate it’s really good tape and waterproof hope this helps by the way nice pond and lovely fish you’ve got there

M8 tell some from a koi deal ea pond pump are not from ea they are boyo and all ea do is by them in put a ea sticker on them re boxing them best pump I ever had was aquaforte
