I think that there is some truth here. 5 years ago, I lost quite a bit of weight and also gave up many forms of sugar. Before that, I was constantly tired and always very weak, to the point that I had to adopt many strategies just to get through the day. I was able to do things again, ride my bike, hike, so on long walks. Over COVID, I regained a lot of weight and got back into sugar, I found my energy levels were lower. My PCP wanted to start me on a statin (moderately high cholesterol). Which I did around 4 months ago. Now, I have full-blown weakness and fatigue again. This is my story, an "n" of one. But it seems valid to me. I'm putting my statin on hold for a month and monitoring my fatigue. I need to lose weight and get off the sugar, a harder option... but trying. I'm not telling anyone else to do this; this is my own little experiment.
I hope you won't stop taking your statin without letting your Doctor know...If you don't trust your present Doctor enough to tell him, find a new Doctor you can trust as soon as you can...you deserve medical support you can trust...
Great info! I just wish there was a way to get doctors to listen to this newer info concerning cholesterol vs insulin resistance & cardiac health. Most doctors are still using archaic guidelines for optimal health.
Sugar is now in the east more prevalent than it is here in the west. They're adding more sugar to fast foods in India and Far East countries because we've become wise here and we're learning.
I stopped taking statins because, like many folk I suffered muscle pain and cramps in my legs and believed that the statin I was on was responsible. The pains continued regardless so I went back on to the statin again. When I was off the statins I developed blockages in two arteries so I had to have three stents inserted to open them up. Unless my muscle cramps get progressively worse I will probably stay on the statins.
Jax, you deserve to find a Doctor who will work with you to find the cause and treatment for your leg issues and any other health issue you have...please don't settle for less
All the process has sugar in it, not just small amount but in big quantities. US Congress should pass a law to ban sugar in processed food. Sugar is an addiction just like drugs.
My aunt was prescribed statins for YEARS and it led to severe neurological damage. She finally chose euthanasia as a way out because she was unable to walk for the last five years of her life.

I had a heart attack took statins for years had another heart attack, Quit taking them because obviously they didn’t prevent it, and two, muscle aches were terrible. Started a low carb high protein diet, shed weight, got lien, feel better than ever. All my markers went down except LDL but I don’t know which particle type because I need a NMR to know that. Which I asked for but didn’t get. My Cardiologist wants me back on statins 😳
I got my LDL down to 62 and HDL to 85 with Diet. I always worked out 5 days a week but it was the diet that did it. Prior numbers were usually around 90 and 67... Cut the processed crap out and keep the sugars low as possible, Olive oil only and berberine and Tumeric also helped. Good luck to you. I was on Statins too but they were horrible for my joints
If I were you I would show this video to your doc. Dr. Malhotra is a very well respected and preeminent physician. Same with Dr. Hyman. Another video by Dwight Lundell, MD, a cardiologist in AZ. would be helpful also. If your doc is at least willing to look into it, there may be hope. If not, I would be looking for another Dr. Also, I just told my doctor no thank you to statins.😊

My mom is on 80mg of statin after 1 heart stent for 8 months now complaining of muscle pain and memory loss. Cardiologist said she has to take it for life but I’m thinking of reducing their dose but not sure if it’s safe
Dear, Ur mom will cripple if she continue with 80 mg statin. For God sake, immediately reduce to half and then 20mg, finally to 10 mg per day, within a fortnite successively. I had 2 stunts 6 years ago, was prescribed statins, but then discontinued after a year. I am now on LCHF diet, feeling strong and healthy. A reduced calorie intake, healthy balanced diet with exercise. Sure, low carb, high fat diet would improved HBA1C markers but the long term effect of high saturated fat on thr body is equally as bad. So short term a low carb diet would work but you should aim for healthy balance filled with fibre and wholegrain once you've improved your bio markers amd impeded insulin sensitivity

Please try a high dose of COQ10/ Ubiquinol which is the reduced form of COQ10 but is absorbed into the body much better. The reality is we live in a world today where people can not eliminate carbohydrates completely. Eating more meat is not sustainable for our planet, but eliminating meat means low protein and more starch and carbs.
